My Experience As A Writer Essay
Vinay Patel ENG–1031.1032–05 Professor Ward Date–12/08/17 About my experience as a writer
How to become a good writer. There is some major difference between highschool and college
essay. High school and college are different things for writing an essay because it's exploring your
more skills on writing. In high school, I never had experience as writing essay or speeches.
Because in high school, it is not require that every student have to write an essay on academic
ways. If a student doesn't want to write essay academic way, then for a student can write an essay
on his ways. Because in my high school, it does not require that everyone have to follow the
MLA/APA format. We just had to finish the essay, because it's required to graduate from high
school. But when I started my first semester in college, and the professor gave us first assignment
writing about the introduction of an essay. I was really get stressed on that time, because I really
don't understand what to write introduction in essay. But I try my best on my first assignment.
Writing my three essays has taught me how to write the essay in academic way, how to format
them correctly, and analyse the text and question before writing the essay. when I started with my
first essay, I get the idea and I use to enjoy myself to writing essay. When I get the first essay that I
have to work on, is summary/response essay. For summary/response essay, first I have to do read the

My Writing Experience With Writing
All throughout my years of schooling, I've had just about, one paper that was about one page
long, due every year. My papers never had to be more than one page in length. Therefore, I did not
have to do much writing or do many essays. Surely not enough to remember any of the
assignments. Writing has never been something I enjoyed doing, so I never bothered to many
any memories of my writing experiences. I did not think it was necessary to remember any of
them since I only had to do them to get a grade. The only writing experience I remember was the
first assignment I had in this English 100 class about a writing experience. All week long, I sat
there thinking about what to write about, but nothing came to mind as a topic. Then, one thing
came to mind, but it was so very vague, I could not write the length that was needed for the
assignment. I could only think of a few sentences to write for it. After sitting for a few moments
longer, I thought, how about I write about how difficult it was for me to write this essay before it
was due. As a student, I have always struggled in school and never paid much attention in my
classes. I never had very much motivation to go to school. When I was at school, I never listened
to what the teachers were teaching. I never really paid attention and did my work. Instead I spent
my time in class doodling on my papers. Throughout all of my schooling, I cannot remember a
single year where I have missed less than twenty days of school due to me

Essay On My Writing Experience
I have been writing essays since middle school, gaining experience from multiple teachers all of
whom had unique ways of imparting their skills on me as well as my classmates. Barring the basic
learning of Writing in middle school, most of my writing thus far has been gained in literature
classes. Because they were not solely writing classes, the goal of understanding the literature that
was being studied was often placed above improving my writing skills. Almost all of the writing
completed in the literature classroom setting were centered on displaying an ability to grasp the
concepts from the literature or to prove a concept related to the literature. I also wrote a number of
descriptive essays in which I had to write fictional stories in great detail. Another source of writing
experience for me would be the occasional essay in the various social studies classes that I partook
in. These essays were almost always...show more content...
I attempt to vary my sentence length as well as making them effective at conveying ideas.
Depending on how long I have to write, my skills in organizing the essay's ideas are adequate. If
rushed, I often write a very long introduction and first paragraph while the other three paragraphs
are lacking in length and quality. I also lack knowledge of how to organize certain types of
essays. I have written five paragraphs for almost all my standard essays that I have been assigned,
because five paragraphs is usually a requirement. In writing situations lacking a paragraph
requirement, I am often unsure how to organize the content, resulting in a poorly written essay. I
feel fairly competent in a persuasive essay, due to that being the main focus of many of my writing
experience. I have also grown used to, and understand the basic structure and organization of a
persuasive essay. In summary my experience is limited to persuasive and expository essays, but I
have become experienced in different aspects of those areas, such as researching and

My experience have been good but not so good. I'm not the best writer I struggle to get my ideas
down.
The person who helped me improved my writing was my junior year teacher for language and
composition. She took a chance with me and accepted me into the class. She taught us how to make
an argument how to analyze advertisement, speeches, and books. She opened all of our minds and
taught us how to spot tricks from the media and advertisements. My writing improved with her but it
still needs work.
I like writing persuasive essays or anything with a prompt. If you tell me write about anything I
wouldn't know what to write because there's too much to write about and sometimes there's nothing.
What I hope to get out of this class is to learn

Reflection On Experience In Reading And Writing
Reflective Essay
As far as writing is concerned, it has never been a greater pleasure of mine than to write about
something. This semester has provided me with a bundle of opportunities to write about a plethora
of topics which I would not even have considered on second thoughts otherwise. The aim of this
reflective essay is to discuss my Literacy Narrative "Experience in Reading and Writing". I decided to
reflect on this essay as it shows my learning path of the English language. This reflection will
analyze the learning process I went through and how it was applied. The process of learning a
language is to be able to understand, read, write and speak it effectively in order to enable
communication. I will also discuss the obstacles that I faced and how I came through from it
with proper guidance. The essay is to reflect on my role as a student, guided by peers and guides
in search of verbosity. Moreover, the essay is proof of how far I have come from having ideas all
over the place and not making sense. This essay shows that I can frame my thought coherently and
provide a central topic around which everything could be related to. I believe that the essay would
be inspiring and can help others understand that language is no barrier if you work on it and shall
become one of the most important tools in life.
Most of the time when I plan on learning something, it so happens that I cannot focus on one
single idea or be able to link a group of ideas together. This has for most parts prevented me from
taking an initiative to write about it. Writing something proved challenging as whatever I wrote had
to be structurally and grammatically correct. Consequently, the pressure of managing these
problems made it difficult to have a meaningful subject that could be rhetorically satisfactory. This
essay introduces the issue initially as tries to put in the factors that were responsible for it. The
primary audience for this essay would be myself and my instructor, so the main aim was to
understand my own triumphs and tribulations this semester. While it is true that others might read
this essay, I decided to write on an issue that everyone would have experienced. For this reason, I
decided to write about learning a

Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to
prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing
especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits
in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfectessay, story, letter, and
assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will
improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different
point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting
feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me
improve.
Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on
more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I
disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the
way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point.
Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative
with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps
writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this
is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole
essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that
helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was
one of the easiest things about writing the essay.
Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a
teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of
protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the
essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic
errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't

Essay About My Writing Experience
Everyone is a writer but they do not realize it till someone points it out. Not a single day passes
without drafting something down. I realized that l was a writer when l got in the habit of writing
my daily plans in a journal, that included shopping list, class schedules, meal plan and chores. My
brains do a review of how l spent my day every night before l fall asleep. Some days are full of
interesting situations that l always write down so l can share with my family. After a week or so,
l always have time to read that journal and surprisingly, these short stories are entertaining. That
is the moment l realized that l can write anything that l set my mind on. I have had a lifetime
experience with writing. From the age 5, my parents trained me to read a book of my choice,
write or tell a summary accordingly. School started and l was fortunate to be taught English as a
second language and three other languages. During my last year before l graduated from high
school, l entered a literature competition and l acquired so much knowledge in reading and writing.
I thought my writing dream was going down the drain when l enrolled in the nursing program but

Experience Of Writing
Writing, it has it's good, and it's bad. Regardless of who you are however, you have had an
experience with it. College, High School, Middle School, etc. We all have written something at
some point in our lives. Personally I haven't been exposed to massive amounts of writing outside
of school although, I do enjoy writing songs. There's many different types from Novels, Poetry,
Music, all the way to texting. Most people I feel enjoy writing and as do I. I enjoy writing for a few
reasons,One. It allows me to relieve stress or anything on my mind and keep sane. I have a
journal to keep track of days for later memories and I add to it every day. I have a few experiences
worth sharing as well. One of my first experiences seriously writing is when, I was in Highschool,
and had to write a speech. I spent four days writing this speech. Although it wasn't what you would
call outstandingly fun. The speech was for my graduation on the last day of school BSEP. BSEP
was a project all seniors had to complete and pass to graduate. I have been out of school for two
years since that experience....show more content...
I began writing songs about a year ago. The drive really came out of nowhere I wasn't in a very
good place emotionally. Since I was feeling kind of down I began to write songs mostly R&B and
as well as Hip Hop. Writing these however doesn't require much punctuation. I write a lot of
songs, and I have compiled about 30 total in the past year. I get a lot of good feedback from the
people who have heard them but I am very skittish about singing in front of people. I mostly do it
for self satisfaction in my own head it helps me relax. I'm also building a skill that might one day

My experience throughout English 101 Essay
My Experience throughout English 101
As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest
potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic
requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my
professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for
some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me
with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. My experience in English 101
taught me to write to my fullest potential and to write what I felt; rather then writing what was
required.
In the...show more content...
Also, by revising my essays I felt that I had the chance of writing with a broader sense.
Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember
having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was
looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading
critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;"
(Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand
what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by
my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to
convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays.
Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish
writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to
write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one
type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several
other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my
style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what
matters the most is pleasing your audience (many not one), and

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

CT interpret effective leadership as affected by situational variables, including the followers, work
environment and tasks, and the external environment (Daft, 2005, p.111). CT includes Fiedler's
proposal of predominance and interaction between relationship or taskoriented leadership styles, as
well as Hersey and Blanchard's focus on the characteristics of followers as producing favorable or

Personal Experience with Writing
I have always considered writing to be a work in progress, and it constantly can be improved. I have
always been devoted to writing. I loved to write stories as a child because I could use my creativity
and create any type of character I desired. But I have struggled with writing as well. English has
never been my forte. I have received A's, B's, C's, and D's on essays. I truly never found my voice in
writing. In my high school, English teachers would give me mixed reviews on my writing. For
example, in 9th grade my English teacher said I was organized with my thoughts, and my writing
process was excellent. While in 10th,11th grade ,12th grade my teachers only said negative things
about my essays. Not being a strong writer made me...show more content...

creative on how I would approach it. As a writer, you have always change you writing. It was
challenging to decide how I wanted to structure each essay. But, challenge is the key towards
being a perfect writer. Finally, reflecting on English 114A/B my attitude and style of writing has
changed. My attitude has changed because now I see writing as being therapeutic. I see writing
as something to help me relieve stress. It allows me release my feelings, rather than expressing
my words to someone. Also, my style of writing has changed. Taking the English stretch course at
CSUN allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, I was able to let go of the five
paragraph essay. It was hard, but I was able to do it slowly. Moreover, I was able to let go of the
habit of starting all my essay's with a quote. It was not easy to be open to changing my writing
style. I had to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, some people are scared of change
because they believe that change is bad, because you do not know what to expect. I was not scared
to change my writing style because I look as change as challenge, and the opportunity to start
something new. Adjusting my writing style was a challenge, but I was able to do it. It is

My Writing Experience
Reading and writing has always created a sense of understanding for me in my art. Reading in the
literal sense is a way that we understand text or symbols in our minds which in turn create meaning.
Writing also in a literal sense is our way of communicating our knowledge and emotions to others
through symbols in text. The human experience for all people includes communication and through
reading and writing this experience is created. From the beginning of this course, my only prior
experience with reading and writing were high school level course over literature and reading. I had
an average level of rhetoric, reading, writing and language overall however, understanding the
significance of these subjects was never put forth in such a way until I took this course. I discovered
through this course that reading is a combination of not only our "visual information" but also our
"nonvisual information". My comprehension of reading has evolved from reading...show more

I feel that organization is both a strength and a weakness in my writing. Free writing is something
that helped me gain a better sense of my ideas and through this I was able to create more structured
ideas. However, the formation of a structurally sound essay that contains writing that flows was
extremely difficult for myself. Fluidity was a challenge throughout my time in this course, but is
was also something that created a better voice in my writing. The understanding of reading and
writing in this course was extremely meaningful for me and made a huge impact on my writing
overall. Writing motivates me and inspires me in my own work to create stories and share with
others what I feel is memorable and should be shared. Although it may never be something perfect,
writing is something I wish to continue improving on and creating in order to share with

My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years
Literacy Narrative: My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years
I have never been the type of student who enjoyed reading or writing. I have always found it
difficult to express myself by writing narratives, book reports, and any other required assignment. I
am far more skilled at speaking or verbal expression in general as I have found over the years that
people tend to misunderstand my point if it is written.
When I sit to write, I have to think about what I want to say. This is not easy for me as I tend to
think about several things at once. Clearing my mind and focusing on the writing task is a challenge
in itself. I do not consider myself a strong writer and find it intimidating especially when I know it
will be critiqued. The sense of failure when seeing the paper I worked so hard on look like the
newest local headline of a recent murder is disheartening for me. I assume I am being overly
critical of myself but those feelings seem to be redeemed when I look over the aftermath of what
was my wonderful work of mental art.
The irony of all of this is I write many different things in my current job. One any given day I draft
contracts, amendments, and addendums to name a few. I have learned a great deal from my bosses
and mentors which has made me a better writer and more aware of my grammar and proofreading
of work. My Vice President is an attorney and English major with a keen ability to find the minutest
errors. I try to take any criticism

Essay About Writing Experience
As someone who frequently writes, I have been accustomed with the difficulties of writing.
However, I have never been more challenged (in a good way) and have been required to think
more critically than I have been now having to write in Chinese. At first, the biggest adjustment
was familiarizing myself with the manner in which phrases in English are structured in Chinese.
I initially had the impression that this class was going to be "easy" in the sense of not having to
do much work but that quickly changed. Quite frankly, I even considered dropping the course
because of these reasons but I ending up confronting these challenges because of my genuine
interest in the language and the content of this course. After week one, I made it my goal to be
more engaged in class. At least initially, I would describe my participation in class as being more
passive than active, as I frequently did not engage in class discussion or read the textbook.
However, I later become more engaged in the class. Foremost, this begun...show more content...
As I mentioned earlier, writing in Chinese was a major challenge because of my unfamiliarity with
the native grammar pattern. Although the shortest, the first response was probably one of the
hardest assignments. Synthesizing and the creation of a story in another language can definitely be a
challenge. However, through that struggle something positive did come out of it, personal
development. I was able to better understand my strengths and more importantly my weakness which
fostered personal growth not only in my writing but also in others aspects.
How to convince any audience. As you pointed out, one of best ways to sway your audience is to
simply acknowledge opposition. In acknowledging the opposition, you appear more knowledgeable
of the subject manner and do not appear as narrow–minded. You are aware of the other side but still

My Experience with Writing
There are many experiences that have shaped the way I write today. For example, during my
senior year at Plainfield Central High School, I struggled with finding a way to put my paper
together using ideas and words of my own. My senior English teacher always said, "Writing a paper
is not always just citing what you found on a website. Youneed to add your own thoughts and
comments to make your paper more personal." She sat down with me after class and worked on
my paper with me to try and teach me a way to find my own words and it worked. She had me
write the paper before finding any type of citations on the internet. That way, it was all my own
words and then I could find my sources and add them in there and delete anything of my own if
needed. Another example is, when I was sitting at my kitchen table struggling to find the words
to make the paper have good detail. My mother looked at me and said, "Write how you want it to
be written. Write it in the way you believe will make a good paper." That has helped me
tremendously because when I write how I want to write, I generally like how my papers turn out so
much more. Another thing that has helped me was, about one time every week I would sit down
and write about anything I can think of. It could be what I am looking forward to doing in the future
or even just what is on my mind at that moment. I realized that the more I write, the better I get at it.
Overall, I have had a positive experience with

Essay On My Writing Experience
Of all the writing experience I gained through an AP heavy course load in high school, I look
towards the experience I gained in one class more than anything else when it comes to the
development of my reading and writing skills as a student and learner. This class was known
locally in my high school as Honors Issues in Religions, taught by Mr. Burnett. The reason this
class has held such an impact on me is because we were able to develop both reading and writing in a
variety of ways, whether it was doing the nightly textbook reading, writing 4 essays in 90 minutes in
what is known as a test in the class, the 15 page minimum research paper due at the end of the year,
or even the book review done on a book of the student's choice. All of these different aspects were

This paper was designed to gives us a small insight into what college writing would be like while
still giving us the freedom to find an interesting topic that pertained to both the writer and the

contrary to the smaller 3 page papers I was used to knocking out in 45 minutes, I was forced to sit
down and try to understand the several different research sources I had found. I also had to go
more in depth with what I was writing and formulate my sentences to try and explain and help the
reader understand what I was trying to say about my topic while still trying to open the reader up
to my point of view. All while writing this paper our teacher was also giving back mass amounts
of constructive criticism at a college level to help improve our writing skills. This research paper

Essay On Collaborative Writing Experience
The individual and collaborative writing experiences I have had helped me improve and will
improve my future writing. By using the peer editing technique, I am getting different opinions and
feedback. Sometimes we do not have the same ideas as others have and we are not as creative. By
having various corrections or suggestions, my writing will then be of better quality. In addition, by
doing this you can see what people like and dislike about your writing. If I take other's suggestions
into consideration while writing, my writing will improve because all they are trying to do is help
me become a better writer
The previous solitary writing rituals I had were not superb enough. I wrote without incorporating
much thought into my writing. For example, recently we had to write a narrative story pretending to
be a Native American coming in contact with the Spaniards for the first time. When I first wrote my
essay, it was very basic and too general. Not many...show more content...
I am constantly learning new techniques in class, but collaborative modes of writing are an
essential way to become better writers. Some people may think it is a waste of time or that it is
unnecessary because one writes whatever they chose to. Yes, they are right, although it is a great
way to get feedback. In addition, it is a great way to work with others. When revising someone
else's work, some people may have more straightforward opinions and you may think they are being
harsh on you. In comparison, others may write nicer comments when making suggestions. At times,
you may disagree with the correction they have suggested and that is normal. You as a writer just
have to learn to accept critiques and use them to your benefit. Though, peer editing is not the only
way to get feedback; brainstorming with a partner and sharing ideas before you start to write is a
great collaborative mode. By doing this, one also enriches oral communication

The company's creams inventory remains constant because it does not follow a trend in
innovation and changes so often as the other products. The surplus in inventory is a big
disadvantage since; last year's products may not be in style this year in addition to the cost of
storage. For all these reasons their cash flow is less in comparison with previous years causing that
Luxor Cosmetics keeps increasing their bank loans, creating more debt, making it harder to pay out
as 2011. In this particular situation the company could have either decrease its budgeted sales
(productions) or increase its actual sales by improving more effective marketing strategy and
research and development of its products in the markets. This way their inventory would decrease
and their cash flow would increase. (Hopkins, 2009)
Further, through effective marketing strategy Luxor

Essay About My Writing Experience
Writing is no were near my strongest subject but everyone has their weak and strong subjects
when it comes to education. I strive to become a phenomenal writer one day, to become a great
writer requires a lot of work. This work I would have to do demands for a great amount of
consistency. My writing experience has been filled with a lot of learning and recognizing that I still
need help. I am not at all the best writer. I have yet to grasp the full knowledge of writing an
academic paper. Some things I remember from high school, but other things are new to me.
Focusing on my weaknesses is key while acknowledging me strengths. As a writer, I can find good
research and come up with transition sentences but I tend to add extra information that is not
relevant to the essay and I struggle with in–text citations. I have improved a lot when it comes to
flowing into another paragraph by using a transition sentence. Without transitions the reader may
think that I am just jumping from topic to topic, rather than I state the relevance of how the two
paragraphs may connect. In the beginning of the semester my papers were not very smooth. With
help available, I was able to become good at coming up with transition sentences. In the...show more

One of my weaknesses I struggle with is being on topic. I think of a lot of things to write about, as
I begin to think I type. The information I type doesn't fit the paper. Referring to paper number
three, in one of the paragraphs I began to talk about what a friend is. That whole paragraph was
not needed. Another example would be when I would quote something that I fine significant but it
just does not fit. The way I explain it in the paper made since to me as I was typing it then as I
read over it. To fix this problem I need to refer to my thesis statement and outline to steer me back
into the right direction. My essay should always support my main

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to
advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has
created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why
English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in
America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take
advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English
IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome
obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there
are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was
something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to
organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class
was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write
about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had
many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it
flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around
more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the
basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things
like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers,
documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I
predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in
kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with
no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me...show more content...
I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic
and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I
need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My
goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or
have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge
to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays,
and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in
my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to
do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex
education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will
have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I
can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am
talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. I will have to be very precise so that
other nurses will not

Essay On Writing Experience

  • 1. My Experience As A Writer Essay Vinay Patel ENG–1031.1032–05 Professor Ward Date–12/08/17 About my experience as a writer How to become a good writer. There is some major difference between highschool and college essay. High school and college are different things for writing an essay because it's exploring your more skills on writing. In high school, I never had experience as writing essay or speeches. Because in high school, it is not require that every student have to write an essay on academic ways. If a student doesn't want to write essay academic way, then for a student can write an essay on his ways. Because in my high school, it does not require that everyone have to follow the MLA/APA format. We just had to finish the essay, because it's required to graduate from high school. But when I started my first semester in college, and the professor gave us first assignment writing about the introduction of an essay. I was really get stressed on that time, because I really don't understand what to write introduction in essay. But I try my best on my first assignment. Writing my three essays has taught me how to write the essay in academic way, how to format them correctly, and analyse the text and question before writing the essay. when I started with my first essay, I get the idea and I use to enjoy myself to writing essay. When I get the first essay that I have to work on, is summary/response essay. For summary/response essay, first I have to do read the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Writing Experience With Writing All throughout my years of schooling, I've had just about, one paper that was about one page long, due every year. My papers never had to be more than one page in length. Therefore, I did not have to do much writing or do many essays. Surely not enough to remember any of the assignments. Writing has never been something I enjoyed doing, so I never bothered to many any memories of my writing experiences. I did not think it was necessary to remember any of them since I only had to do them to get a grade. The only writing experience I remember was the first assignment I had in this English 100 class about a writing experience. All week long, I sat there thinking about what to write about, but nothing came to mind as a topic. Then, one thing came to mind, but it was so very vague, I could not write the length that was needed for the assignment. I could only think of a few sentences to write for it. After sitting for a few moments longer, I thought, how about I write about how difficult it was for me to write this essay before it was due. As a student, I have always struggled in school and never paid much attention in my classes. I never had very much motivation to go to school. When I was at school, I never listened to what the teachers were teaching. I never really paid attention and did my work. Instead I spent my time in class doodling on my papers. Throughout all of my schooling, I cannot remember a single year where I have missed less than twenty days of school due to me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On My Writing Experience I have been writing essays since middle school, gaining experience from multiple teachers all of whom had unique ways of imparting their skills on me as well as my classmates. Barring the basic learning of Writing in middle school, most of my writing thus far has been gained in literature classes. Because they were not solely writing classes, the goal of understanding the literature that was being studied was often placed above improving my writing skills. Almost all of the writing completed in the literature classroom setting were centered on displaying an ability to grasp the concepts from the literature or to prove a concept related to the literature. I also wrote a number of descriptive essays in which I had to write fictional stories in great detail. Another source of writing experience for me would be the occasional essay in the various social studies classes that I partook in. These essays were almost always...show more content... I attempt to vary my sentence length as well as making them effective at conveying ideas. Depending on how long I have to write, my skills in organizing the essay's ideas are adequate. If rushed, I often write a very long introduction and first paragraph while the other three paragraphs are lacking in length and quality. I also lack knowledge of how to organize certain types of essays. I have written five paragraphs for almost all my standard essays that I have been assigned, because five paragraphs is usually a requirement. In writing situations lacking a paragraph requirement, I am often unsure how to organize the content, resulting in a poorly written essay. I feel fairly competent in a persuasive essay, due to that being the main focus of many of my writing experience. I have also grown used to, and understand the basic structure and organization of a persuasive essay. In summary my experience is limited to persuasive and expository essays, but I have become experienced in different aspects of those areas, such as researching and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The person who helped me improved my writing was my junior year teacher for language and composition. She took a chance with me and accepted me into the class. She taught us how to make an argument how to analyze advertisement, speeches, and books. She opened all of our minds and taught us how to spot tricks from the media and advertisements. My writing improved with her but it still needs work. I like writing persuasive essays or anything with a prompt. If you tell me write about anything I wouldn't know what to write because there's too much to write about and sometimes there's nothing. What I hope to get out of this class is to learn Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Reflection On Experience In Reading And Writing Reflective Essay As far as writing is concerned, it has never been a greater pleasure of mine than to write about something. This semester has provided me with a bundle of opportunities to write about a plethora of topics which I would not even have considered on second thoughts otherwise. The aim of this reflective essay is to discuss my Literacy Narrative "Experience in Reading and Writing". I decided to reflect on this essay as it shows my learning path of the English language. This reflection will analyze the learning process I went through and how it was applied. The process of learning a language is to be able to understand, read, write and speak it effectively in order to enable communication. I will also discuss the obstacles that I faced and how I came through from it with proper guidance. The essay is to reflect on my role as a student, guided by peers and guides in search of verbosity. Moreover, the essay is proof of how far I have come from having ideas all over the place and not making sense. This essay shows that I can frame my thought coherently and provide a central topic around which everything could be related to. I believe that the essay would be inspiring and can help others understand that language is no barrier if you work on it and shall become one of the most important tools in life. Most of the time when I plan on learning something, it so happens that I cannot focus on one single idea or be able to link a group of ideas together. This has for most parts prevented me from taking an initiative to write about it. Writing something proved challenging as whatever I wrote had to be structurally and grammatically correct. Consequently, the pressure of managing these problems made it difficult to have a meaningful subject that could be rhetorically satisfactory. This essay introduces the issue initially as tries to put in the factors that were responsible for it. The primary audience for this essay would be myself and my instructor, so the main aim was to understand my own triumphs and tribulations this semester. While it is true that others might read this essay, I decided to write on an issue that everyone would have experienced. For this reason, I decided to write about learning a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfectessay, story, letter, and assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me improve. Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point. Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was one of the easiest things about writing the essay. Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't Get more content on HelpWriting.net

College, High School, Middle School, etc. We all have written something at some point in our lives. Personally I haven't been exposed to massive amounts of writing outside of school although, I do enjoy writing songs. There's many different types from Novels, Poetry, Music, all the way to texting. Most people I feel enjoy writing and as do I. I enjoy writing for a few reasons,One. It allows me to relieve stress or anything on my mind and keep sane. I have a journal to keep track of days for later memories and I add to it every day. I have a few experiences worth sharing as well. One of my first experiences seriously writing is when, I was in Highschool, and had to write a speech. I spent four days writing this speech. Although it wasn't what you would call outstandingly fun. The speech was for my graduation on the last day of school BSEP. BSEP was a project all seniors had to complete and pass to graduate. Writing these however doesn't require much punctuation. I write a lot of songs, and I have compiled about 30 total in the past year. I get a lot of good feedback from the people who have heard them but I am very skittish about singing in front of people. I mostly do it for self satisfaction in my own head it helps me relax. • 9. My experience throughout English 101 Essay My Experience throughout English 101 As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. Also, by revising my essays I felt that I had the chance of writing with a broader sense. Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;" (Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays. Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what matters the most is pleasing your audience (many not one), and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. I loved to write stories as a child because I could use my creativity and create any type of character I desired. But I have struggled with writing as well. English has never been my forte. I have received A's, B's, C's, and D's on essays. I truly never found my voice in writing. In my high school, English teachers would give me mixed reviews on my writing. For example, in 9th grade my English teacher said I was organized with my thoughts, and my writing process was excellent. While in 10th,11th grade ,12th grade my teachers only said negative things about my essays. Not being a strong writer made me...show more content... The essay prompts, that I was given allowed me to challenge myself. The essay prompts were challenging because each essay I had to approach it differently. For each essay, I wanted to be creative on how I would approach it. As a writer, you have always change you writing. It was challenging to decide how I wanted to structure each essay. But, challenge is the key towards being a perfect writer. Finally, reflecting on English 114A/B my attitude and style of writing has changed. My attitude has changed because now I see writing as being therapeutic. I see writing as something to help me relieve stress. It allows me release my feelings, rather than expressing my words to someone. Also, my style of writing has changed. Taking the English stretch course at CSUN allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, I was able to let go of the five paragraph essay. It was hard, but I was able to do it slowly. Moreover, I was able to let go of the habit of starting all my essay's with a quote. It was not easy to be open to changing my writing style. I had to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, some people are scared of change because they believe that change is bad, because you do not know what to expect. I was not scared to change my writing style because I look as change as challenge, and the opportunity to start something new. Adjusting my writing style was a challenge, but I was able to do it. • 14. My Writing Experience Reading and writing has always created a sense of understanding for me in my art. Reading in the literal sense is a way that we understand text or symbols in our minds which in turn create meaning. Writing also in a literal sense is our way of communicating our knowledge and emotions to others through symbols in text. The human experience for all people includes communication and through reading and writing this experience is created. From the beginning of this course, my only prior experience with reading and writing were high school level course over literature and reading. I had an average level of rhetoric, reading, writing and language overall however, understanding the significance of these subjects was never put forth in such a way until I took this course. Fluidity was a challenge throughout my time in this course, but is was also something that created a better voice in my writing. The understanding of reading and writing in this course was extremely meaningful for me and made a huge impact on my writing overall. Writing motivates me and inspires me in my own work to create stories and share with others what I feel is memorable and should be shared. • 15. My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years Literacy Narrative: My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years I have never been the type of student who enjoyed reading or writing. I have always found it difficult to express myself by writing narratives, book reports, and any other required assignment. I am far more skilled at speaking or verbal expression in general as I have found over the years that people tend to misunderstand my point if it is written. When I sit to write, I have to think about what I want to say. This is not easy for me as I tend to think about several things at once. Clearing my mind and focusing on the writing task is a challenge in itself. I do not consider myself a strong writer and find it intimidating especially when I know it will be critiqued. The sense of failure when seeing the paper I worked so hard on look like the newest local headline of a recent murder is disheartening for me. I assume I am being overly critical of myself but those feelings seem to be redeemed when I look over the aftermath of what was my wonderful work of mental art. The irony of all of this is I write many different things in my current job. One any given day I draft contracts, amendments, and addendums to name a few. I have learned a great deal from my bosses and mentors which has made me a better writer and more aware of my grammar and proofreading of work. • 16. Essay About Writing Experience As someone who frequently writes, I have been accustomed with the difficulties of writing. However, I have never been more challenged (in a good way) and have been required to think more critically than I have been now having to write in Chinese. At first, the biggest adjustment was familiarizing myself with the manner in which phrases in English are structured in Chinese. I initially had the impression that this class was going to be "easy" in the sense of not having to do much work but that quickly changed. Quite frankly, I even considered dropping the course because of these reasons but I ending up confronting these challenges because of my genuine interest in the language and the content of this course. After week one, I made it my goal to be more engaged in class. At least initially, I would describe my participation in class as being more passive than active, as I frequently did not engage in class discussion or read the textbook. However, I later become more engaged in the class. Foremost, this begun...show more content... As I mentioned earlier, writing in Chinese was a major challenge because of my unfamiliarity with the native grammar pattern. Although the shortest, the first response was probably one of the hardest assignments. Synthesizing and the creation of a story in another language can definitely be a challenge. However, through that struggle something positive did come out of it, personal development. I was able to better understand my strengths and more importantly my weakness which fostered personal growth not only in my writing but also in others aspects. How to convince any audience. As you pointed out, one of best ways to sway your audience is to simply acknowledge opposition. In acknowledging the opposition, you appear more knowledgeable of the subject manner and do not appear as narrow–minded. • 17. My Writing Experience Essay My Experience with Writing There are many experiences that have shaped the way I write today. For example, during my senior year at Plainfield Central High School, I struggled with finding a way to put my paper together using ideas and words of my own. My senior English teacher always said, "Writing a paper is not always just citing what you found on a website. Youneed to add your own thoughts and comments to make your paper more personal." She sat down with me after class and worked on my paper with me to try and teach me a way to find my own words and it worked. She had me write the paper before finding any type of citations on the internet. That way, it was all my own words and then I could find my sources and add them in there and delete anything of my own if needed. Another example is, when I was sitting at my kitchen table struggling to find the words to make the paper have good detail. My mother looked at me and said, "Write how you want it to be written. Write it in the way you believe will make a good paper." That has helped me tremendously because when I write how I want to write, I generally like how my papers turn out so much more. Another thing that has helped me was, about one time every week I would sit down and write about anything I can think of. It could be what I am looking forward to doing in the future or even just what is on my mind at that moment. I realized that the more I write, the better I get at it. • 19. Essay On My Writing Experience Of all the writing experience I gained through an AP heavy course load in high school, I look towards the experience I gained in one class more than anything else when it comes to the development of my reading and writing skills as a student and learner. This class was known locally in my high school as Honors Issues in Religions, taught by Mr. Burnett. The reason this class has held such an impact on me is because we were able to develop both reading and writing in a variety of ways, whether it was doing the nightly textbook reading, writing 4 essays in 90 minutes in what is known as a test in the class, the 15 page minimum research paper due at the end of the year, or even the book review done on a book of the student's choice. I also had to go more in depth with what I was writing and formulate my sentences to try and explain and help the reader understand what I was trying to say about my topic while still trying to open the reader up to my point of view. All while writing this paper our teacher was also giving back mass amounts of constructive criticism at a college level to help improve our writing skills. • 20. Essay On Collaborative Writing Experience The individual and collaborative writing experiences I have had helped me improve and will improve my future writing. By using the peer editing technique, I am getting different opinions and feedback. Sometimes we do not have the same ideas as others have and we are not as creative. By having various corrections or suggestions, my writing will then be of better quality. In addition, by doing this you can see what people like and dislike about your writing. If I take other's suggestions into consideration while writing, my writing will improve because all they are trying to do is help me become a better writer The previous solitary writing rituals I had were not superb enough. I am constantly learning new techniques in class, but collaborative modes of writing are an essential way to become better writers. Some people may think it is a waste of time or that it is unnecessary because one writes whatever they chose to. Yes, they are right, although it is a great way to get feedback. In addition, it is a great way to work with others. When revising someone else's work, some people may have more straightforward opinions and you may think they are being harsh on you. In comparison, others may write nicer comments when making suggestions. At times, you may disagree with the correction they have suggested and that is normal. You as a writer just have to learn to accept critiques and use them to your benefit. Though, peer editing is not the only way to get feedback; brainstorming with a partner and sharing ideas before you start to write is a great collaborative mode. In order to make positive contributions in the world and to feel that our life is valuable, we all need to decide on a direction. Some kids answer that they want to be a firefighter, scientists, doctor, or an engineer but as we grow up, our interests start to change and they don't stop changing. When I was young, I wanted to be a firefighter, because for me, putting out fires was an exciting thing to do. When I grew up, my thoughts and my interests changed. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net
