Air Works undertook 'Connect', a project designed for rapid and true digital
integration aligned to the group's non-linear growth. To understand the project it's
important to first understand Air Works and how it operates.
Air Works is a leading EASA certified provider of aviation MRO and painting
services and a one-stop shop for integrated private aviation services, offering aircraft
sales, aircraft management, aircraft charter, and aircraft insurance to its customers.
Air Works, today, is a group of like-minded entrepreneurs who each run specialist
businesses (in 4 continents) within the group, but whom, while they are individual
experts in their respective domains, share core values.
The 'Connect' project targeted to integrate these entrepreneurs and organizations
across different geographies with different social and corporate cultures. It is core to
the company's non-linear business growth strategy and its execution. It's also a
critical pillar to bridge the gap between the ageing workforces in one geography and
the Gen-Z of emerging economies.
Measurable Business Impact of 'Connect'
Results achieved till now by connecting People, Process and Things:
People - Many folds increase in customer base and satisfaction. Productivity in
continuous airworthiness processes like trace and track increased from 3-5 months to
350ms - 5 seconds. There was 29% drop in attrition levels while HR compliance
improved and also accuracy of people data increased from 29% to 98.3%. However,
the most precious impact which I'm proud of is the intangible impact in terms of the
harmonious mingling of the cultures of different communities and the fostering of
togetherness, especially in the age group of 35 years and less - our future workforce.
Process - Digitization of processes across organizations (Air Works, India; Air
Livery, UK; Aero Technique Espace, France; Empire Aviation Group, Dubai; and
Scandinavian Avionics of Denmark) as well as across functions (Engineering,
CAMO, Supply-chain, Planning, HR, Finance, Legal, Compliance, IT, etc.) from
zero to over 50%. This resulted in savings worth multi-million dollars and
productivity increase in double digits.
Things - Inventory accuracy went up from 16% to 97.4%. Aircraft visibility from
hangar activities to work orders improved from zero to 92%. The reduction in
shrinkage of parts, consumables, etc. is now down to single digits.
