LINK is IEEE Student member network of Kerala Section. The presentation deals with some of the basics of LINK. It was delivered as part of a training program in Federal Institute of Engineering

6. Reasons for LINK
• Lack of awareness among students
• High membership fee: Need of more benefits
• Lack of proper training platforms
• Lack of proper transition of execoms
• Lack of mentoring/guiding
• Lack of effective co-ordination among SBs, sections and
Region.
9. History of IEEE LINK
• First program: IEEE Awareness at FISAT, Kerala on
Oct, 13th 2003
• Formulated by Mr.S. Gopakumar (Student Activities
Chair) and Mr.Prijoe P. Komattu (Section Student Rep.)
in 2004
• Trained a set of volunteers to conduct awareness
programs
• The name LINK was coined by Mr.Prijoe P. Komattu
• Formally Inaugurated by IEEE President, Mr. Cleon
Anderson in January 2005.
• College of Engineering, Chengannur played a
pioneering role in setting up LINK
• Hub teams were introduced in 2007 by Mr.Gopakumar
10. Constitution of LINK
Constitution of LINK
Article 1: Name, purpose and geographical span
Sec 1. The name of the association will be “Local Interactive Network of IEEE Students
of Kerala” which will be abbreviated as “LINK” and will be used the same in this
document hereafter.
Sec 2. The purpose of LINK is to act as a conjunctive body, ensembling the student
Branches (referred to as entities hereafter) coming under its geographical span
described in the section 3. LINK will spread the value of IEEE through out its
geographical span. The means of connecting the entities shall be, but not
limited to, online conferences and group mails and face to face meetings
Sec 3. The geographical span of LINK will comprise of the state of Kerala and
the geographical area of interest of any other student branches that come under
the IEEE Kerala section by any reason forthwith.
Article 2: A year of LINK and its Body
Sec 1: A year of LINK will span from January 1st
of the respective year till the December
31st
of the same year (will be referred as ‘year’ hereafter). By default, a year will
be the term of service of the representative body and executive posts defined in
the following sections.
Sec 2: The LINK will have a representative body comprising of the LINK representatives
from the entities. The term ‘LINK representative’ shall be defined as the person
who is an IEEE member, entrusted by the entity student branch to represent
