This is an introduction to Robotics and Artificial Intelligence for my 9th grade Technology class.

2. What is a Robot? Robotics A robot is a machine that gathers information about its environment (senses) and uses that information (thinks) to follow instructions and to do work (acts).

3. What is a Robot? A robot is an electro-mechanical or bio-mechanical device or group of devices that can perform a repetitive or preprogrammed tasks.

5. What is a Robot? This is a diagram of a robotic space arm.

6. What is a Robot? Robots may be used to perform tasks that are to dangerous or difficult for humans to do directly, such as radioactive waste clean-up.

7. What is a Robot? They may also be used to do repetitive tasks that could be performed with more precision by a robot, such as automobile production.

9. What is a Robot? Robots are being designed to perform precision surgery, explore space, the ocean, and other dangerous areas.

10. What is a Robot? This is the DaVinci robot. A surgical robot used today.

11. What is a Robot? There is endless variety in the size, shape and jobs of robots. Some robots are used day after day in factories, while others are highly experimental and use artificial intelligence to behave more and more like living creatures, able to act independently in changing environments.

12. What is A.I. ? Artificial Intelligence A rtificial Intelligence is a branch of Science , which deals with helping machines find solutions to complex problems in a more human-like fashion.

13. What is A.I. ? Artificial Intelligence This generally involves borrowing characteristics from human intelligence, and applying them as algorithms in a computer friendly way.

14. AI is generally associated with Computer Science , but it has many important links with other fields such as Math , Psychology , Cognition , Biology and Philosophy , among many others. What is A.I. ?

15. Our ability to combine knowledge from all these fields will ultimately benefit our progress in the quest of creating an intelligent artificial being. What is A.I. ?

17. T he potential applications of Artificial Intelligence are endless. They stretch from the military for autonomous control and target identification, to the entertainment industry for computer games and robotic pets. What is A.I. ?

18. What is A.I. ? This is a drone plane with A.I features.

19. What is A.I. ? This is a robotic dog with A.I. like abilities.

20. Lets also not forget big establishments dealing with huge amounts of information such as hospitals , banks and insurance companies , who can use AI to predict customer behavior and detect trends. What is A.I. ?

21. So What Is Next? The development of every new technology raises questions that we, as individuals and as a society, need to address.
