  7. 7. <ul><li>4. Abstract Noun- Name given to something that can be felt but not touched. </li></ul>

Examples <ul><li>Brown paper packages are tied with strings. </li></ul><ul><li>Brown - Proper Noun, paper - Common Noun, package - Collective Noun, strings - Common Noun. </li></ul><ul><li>We had many exciting experiences in college. </li></ul><ul><li>experiences - abstract noun, college - common noun. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Countable and Uncountable Nouns <ul><li>Countable Nouns - Nouns that can be counted. </li></ul><ul><li>For eg. pens, chairs, 1 lt of water, 1 kg of rice, books, people, toys etc. </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>Uncountable Nouns - Nouns that cannot be counted. </li></ul><ul><li>For eg. Air, happy, smile, sorrow, anger etc. </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>NOTE - </li></ul><ul><li>Rice in itself cannot be counted, but the unit by which we measure it, that is; ‘Kilograms’ can be counted. </li></ul><ul><li>Similarly, water cannot be counted but the measurement ‘Litre’ can be counted. </li></ul><ul><li>So we take both of them and the others like them in countable nouns. </li></ul>
