3. The MBA programme is well structured and integrated course of business studies. The
main objective of practical training at MBA level is to develop skill in student by
supplement to the theoretical study of business management in general. Industrial
training helps to gain real life knowledge about the industrial environment and business
practices. The MBA programme provides student with a fundamental knowledge of
business and organizational functions and activities as well as an exposure to strategic
thinking of management.
In every professional course, training is an important factor. Professors give us
theoretical knowledge of various subjects in the college but we are practically exposed
of such subjects when we get the training in the organization. It is only the training
through which I come to know that what an industry is and how it works. I can learn
about various departmental operations being performed in the industry, which would, in
return, help me in the future when I will enter the practical field.
In today’s globalize world, where cutthroat competition is prevailing in the
market, theoretical knowledge is not sufficient. Beside this one need to have practical
knowledge, which would help an individual in his/her carrier activities and it is true that
“Experience is the best teacher”.

19. INTRODUCTION OF FIRE
Fires have been classified into four groups A, B, C, and D
Class A fires - are fires involving organic solids like paper, wood, etc
Class B fires - are fires involving flammable Liquids.
Class C fires - are fires involving flammable Gasses
Class D fires - are fires involving Metals
Electrical fires are not included, as they can fall into any of the classifications. However
if you use a water extinguisher you must isolate the electric supply first as you could be
electrocuted. In addition it must be remembered that certain electrical apparatus
maintains a lethal charge for some time after it has been switch off. What should you do
if you discover a fire? You must get everyone out as quickly as possible and call the fire
brigade. However you may discover a fire in its very early stages and think that you can
deal with it yourself. The first thing that you should remember is that fire spreads very
quickly. Even a small contained fire can quickly spread, producing smoke and fumes
which can kill in seconds. If you are in any doubt do not tackle the fire, no matter how
small. You can put yourself at risk by fighting the fire. If in doubt, get out, call the Fire
Service out and stay out.
New F Class for fire extinguishers
19
20. The British Standards Institution (BSI) published a standard which introduced a new fire
classification for cooking oil and fat fires, Class F, which was BS 7937 and now has
been replaced by BS EN 3-7 2004 + A1 : 2007 Characteristics, performance
requirements and test methods.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Manufacture of the tank-type or cylinder fire extinguisher requires several
manufacturing operations to form the pressure vessel, load the chemical agent, machine
the valve, and add the hardware, hose, or nozzle.
Creating the pressure vessel:
• 1 Pressure vessels are formed from puck-shaped (disc) blocks of special
aluminum alloy. The puck is first impact extruded on a large press under great
pressure. In impact extrusion, the aluminum block is put into a die and rammed
at very high velocity with a metal tool. This tremendous energy liquifies the
aluminum and causes it to flow into a cavity around the tool. The aluminum thus
takes the form of an open-ended cylinder with considerably more volume than
the original puck.
41
42. Necking and spinning:
• 2 The necking process puts a dome on the open end of the cylinder by
constricting
In a typical gas-cartridge extinguisher, a spike pierces the gas cartridge. The
released gas expands quickly to fill the space above the water and pressurize the
vessel. The water can then be pumped out of the extinguisher with the necessary
force.
the open end with another operation called spinning. Spinning gently rolls the
metal together, increasing the wall thickness and reducing the diameter. After
spinning, the threads are added.
• 3 The vessel is hydrostatically tested, cleaned, and coated with a powdered
paint. The vessel is then baked in an oven where the paint is cured.
Adding the extinguishing agent:
• 4 Next, the extinguishing agent is added. If the vessel is a "stored-pressure" type,
the vessel is then pressurized accordingly. If a gas-cartridge is necessary to help
expel the extinguishing agent, it is also inserted at this time.
• 5 After the extinguishing element is added, the vessel is sealed and the valve is
added. The valve consists of a machined body made of metal bar stock on a
lathe, or a plastic injected molded part on the economy versions. It must be leak
free, and it must have provisions for threading into the cylinder.
Final assembly:
• 6 The final manufacturing operation is the assembly of the actuating handle,
safety pins, and the mounting bracket. These parts are usually cold formed—
formed at low temperatures—steel or sheet metal forms, purchased by the
manufacturer from an outside vendor. Identification decals are also placed on the
cylinder to identify the proper fire class rating as well as the suitability for
recharging. Many of the economy versions are for one time use only and cannot
be refilled.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
Training and development plays an important role in any organization. It refers to the
imparting of specific skills, abilities and knowledge to an employee.Training &
Development need = Standard performance - actual performance. It improves current or
future employee performance by increasing an employee's ability to perform through
learning usually by changing the employee's attitude.
Need for Importance of Training:
1) Heightens Morale
2) Reduce Supervision
3) Reduce Labour Problem
4) Minimum Accident and Wastage
5) Increase Productivity
6) Increase Organizational stability and Flexibility
46
47. 7) Fulfills Manpower needs Benefits to Employee
8) Obsolescence Prevention
9) Learning Time Reducing
In KANADIA FYR FYTER PVT LTD. the training period is one year. HR
Department arranges training for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers depending
on the need.
KANADIA follows the two method for Training :
Methods of Training:
1) On the Job Method:
The most common and formal on the job training program is training for a specific job.
Which involved methods as describe under.
2)Off the Job Method:
In off the job method there are involve two things which may be one is lecture method
and another is conference method which helps to off the job method
1) On the Job Method :
Experience : This is the oldest method of 'on the job training'. This
method has proved to be very efficient though it should be followed by other
training methods to make it more meaningful.
Coaching : On the job coaching by the superior is an important and
potentially effective approach. Superior is properly trained and oriented. The
technique involves direct personnel instruction and guidance, usually with
extensive demonstration and continuous critical evaluation and correction.
Job Rotation : It is another 'on the job training method' in which worker
is imparted training in a variety of jobs and is shifted from job to job for this
purpose. This method helps the worker to be versatile in many jobs.
Apprenticeship : A major part of training time is spent on this job for
productive work. Each apprentice is given a programme of assignments
47
48. according to a predetermined schedule which provides for efficient training in
trade skills. In Mother Dairy Human Resource Department also provides this
type of training. E.g. a machinist, a mechanic.
Training Center Training : It involves classroom training imparted with
the help of equipment and machines identical to those in use of the place of
work. Theoretical training is given in the classroom while practical work is
conducted on the production line.
Job Instruction : Training is an 'on the job' and the trainee learns how to
perform his work while working on his present job. The training is imparted by a
trainer, supervisor or senior and experienced co-worker at the very work
situation.
2) Off the Job Method:
Lecture Method
Conference Method
Lectures Method : This method is useful when concepts, attitudes,
theories and problem solving have to be discussed. The lecture can be used for a
very large group to be trained in a short time.
Conference Method : The conference is ideally suited in consultation
with the person in charge of the seminar

54. Michel Porter’s Five Force Analysis
Porter’s 5 forces model is one of the most recognized framework for the analysis of
business strategy. Porter, the guru of modern day business strategy, used theoretical
frameworks derived from Industrial Organization (IO) economics to derive five forces
which determine the competitive intensity and therefore attractiveness of a market. This
theoretical framework, based on 5 forces, describes the attributes of an attractive
industry and thus suggests when opportunities will be greater, and threats less, in these
of industries.
1. The threat of the entry of new competitors
2. The intensity of competitive rivalry
3. The threat of substitute products or services
4. The bargaining power of customers
5. The bargaining power of suppliers
