around the technology called WI-FI.

5. WI-FI STANDARDS
1) 802.11:-
This standard allows wireless connection
up to 300 feet from an access point and can easily
be added to existing wired networks with speeds
up to 11 mbps.
2) 802.11a:-
This provides a bigger pipe for data and
supports more simultaneous users.
It can support up to 54 mbps.

The popular 802.11b WI-FI
devices broadcast in the 2.4Ghz band used
by cordless phones.

There are currently two types of
components:-
1) WI-FI radio devices.
2) Access points or gateway that act as
base station.
A third type WI-FI equipped
peripherals are emerging and will soon be
common place,this group includes printers,
scanner ,cameras etc.
