Chieko  was born in Tokyo, Japan and spent her early life in the U.S.A and Brazil, which planted seeds of love for nature and multicultural environments in her. Her love for the ocean and its creatures eventually drove her to Australia where she spent 6 years studying  biology, ecology, environmental management, and social ecology of bottlenose dolphins . Though her passion for the ocean never died, her interest has slightly shifted and significantly expanded. After acquiring her M.Sc. in Tropical Environmental Studies and Geography with specialty in Marine Wildlife Management, she worked as a research coordinator, a translator, and a nature interpreter taking kids and families out to the sea. She also cruised around the world visiting more than 10 regions in 90 days including Antarctica, working as a communication coordinator for the ‘Peace Boat’, a NGO dedicated to education for peace and sustainability. She has spent the last couple of years in Mexico working as an environmental educator. She definitely feels passionate about creating a sustainable world for all life forms sharing the one planet
Pablo grew up in a town near Bilbao (Basque Country) where he got involved in peace building movements and non-formal environmental education groups. He graduated in Business Management from Deusto University in Spain, studied Intercultural management at Tec de Monterrey in Mexico, and pursued postgraduate studies in Local Development and International Relations in Chile. He lived for a decade in Latin America, working as an organizational development consultant and facilitator for multinational companies, NGOs, micro-entrepreneurs, public institutions and local communities. After three years leading sustainable tourism projects in the Andes Mountains, he lectured as Local Sustainable Development professor at Universidad Andrés Bello, Chile. After the MSLS program, Pablo wishes to build a global network of intercultural consultants to facilitate organizational change toward sustainability in Latin America and other emerging countries. He loves hiking, salsa dancing and storytelling. He is married to Yohana, a Chilean social worker, and they have a cute smiling baby, Amanda.
An enthusiastic and driven apprentice for Sustainability matters, Elvio is a Brazilian, currently living in Sweden having recently come from a placement with a global processes alignment project at Electrolux in Stockholm. Now enrolled at MSLS, Elvio hopes to focus his career in Strategic Sustainable Development growth and development. He holds a Business Administration Bachelor at prior to joining the MSLS programme at BTH. Attracted by the power of multidisciplinary collaboration/innovation, he believes in the capability that organizations have to change behaviors and shape cultures. Based on that, through education Elvio strives to bring awareness to society and empower people to take positive actions related to strategic sustainability practices.In his spare time, Elvio loves to practice extreme sports, to explore new places and meet as many diverse people as he can.
Advisors Cesar Levy Franca André Benaim
Cesar, MSLS of 2006 class,was Co-Founder and Director of Research and Development for The Natural Step in Brazil. He was a resident student for a year at Schumacher College in the UK, where he earned master credits in Ecological Economics. He studied Gurdjieffian Psychology in order to explore human fundamental needs, has a degree in Environmental Consultancy. Cesar is currently developing his Phd research project on market introduction of sustainable energies at BTH. He loves Djembé Jam-Sessions, as well.
André Benaim was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His daily contact with poverty and suffering touched him deeply. His experience working in social work reinforced his desire to help increase awareness and equity among people. His natural curiosity for issues surrounding justice, human feelings and the meaning of life led him to study philosophy and law. He has also studied integral theory and psychology, specifically psychosynthesis. These are fields that he aims to explore further. During his years at university he helped create The Academy of Sciences, Arts and Philosophy where he promoted theoretical lectures and art exhibits. In many situations, his strong empathetic and diplomatic skills enable him to understand different points of view and facilitate dialogue. André interned in two law offices and at the Willis Harman House, an organization representing various international organizations including The Natural Step – Brazil. He facilitates Deep Listening Sessions for the MSLS students at BTH.

  • 29. Chieko was born in Tokyo, Japan and spent her early life in the U.S.A and Brazil, which planted seeds of love for nature and multicultural environments in her. Her love for the ocean and its creatures eventually drove her to Australia where she spent 6 years studying biology, ecology, environmental management, and social ecology of bottlenose dolphins . Though her passion for the ocean never died, her interest has slightly shifted and significantly expanded. After acquiring her M.Sc. in Tropical Environmental Studies and Geography with specialty in Marine Wildlife Management, she worked as a research coordinator, a translator, and a nature interpreter taking kids and families out to the sea. She also cruised around the world visiting more than 10 regions in 90 days including Antarctica, working as a communication coordinator for the ‘Peace Boat’, a NGO dedicated to education for peace and sustainability. She has spent the last couple of years in Mexico working as an environmental educator. She definitely feels passionate about creating a sustainable world for all life forms sharing the one planet
  • 30. Pablo grew up in a town near Bilbao (Basque Country) where he got involved in peace building movements and non-formal environmental education groups. He graduated in Business Management from Deusto University in Spain, studied Intercultural management at Tec de Monterrey in Mexico, and pursued postgraduate studies in Local Development and International Relations in Chile. He lived for a decade in Latin America, working as an organizational development consultant and facilitator for multinational companies, NGOs, micro-entrepreneurs, public institutions and local communities. After three years leading sustainable tourism projects in the Andes Mountains, he lectured as Local Sustainable Development professor at Universidad Andrés Bello, Chile. After the MSLS program, Pablo wishes to build a global network of intercultural consultants to facilitate organizational change toward sustainability in Latin America and other emerging countries. He loves hiking, salsa dancing and storytelling. He is married to Yohana, a Chilean social worker, and they have a cute smiling baby, Amanda.

An enthusiastic and driven apprentice for Sustainability matters, Elvio is a Brazilian, currently living in Sweden having recently come from a placement with a global processes alignment project at Electrolux in Stockholm. Now enrolled at MSLS, Elvio hopes to focus his career in Strategic Sustainable Development growth and development. He holds a Business Administration Bachelor at prior to joining the MSLS programme at BTH. Attracted by the power of multidisciplinary collaboration/innovation, he believes in the capability that organizations have to change behaviors and shape cultures. Based on that, through education Elvio strives to bring awareness to society and empower people to take positive actions related to strategic sustainability practices.In his spare time, Elvio loves to practice extreme sports, to explore new places and meet as many diverse people as he can.
  • 32. Advisors Cesar Levy Franca André Benaim
  • 33. Cesar, MSLS of 2006 class,was Co-Founder and Director of Research and Development for The Natural Step in Brazil. He was a resident student for a year at Schumacher College in the UK, where he earned master credits in Ecological Economics. He studied Gurdjieffian Psychology in order to explore human fundamental needs, has a degree in Environmental Consultancy. Cesar is currently developing his Phd research project on market introduction of sustainable energies at BTH. He loves Djembé Jam-Sessions, as well.
  • 34. André Benaim was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His daily contact with poverty and suffering touched him deeply. His experience working in social work reinforced his desire to help increase awareness and equity among people. His natural curiosity for issues surrounding justice, human feelings and the meaning of life led him to study philosophy and law. He has also studied integral theory and psychology, specifically psychosynthesis. These are fields that he aims to explore further. During his years at university he helped create The Academy of Sciences, Arts and Philosophy where he promoted theoretical lectures and art exhibits. In many situations, his strong empathetic and diplomatic skills enable him to understand different points of view and facilitate dialogue. André interned in two law offices and at the Willis Harman House, an organization representing various international organizations including The Natural Step – Brazil. He facilitates Deep Listening Sessions for the MSLS students at BTH.
