Making the AI revolution happen - Faction XYZ
In my daily job, I help companies translate their business problems to questions that can be answered by data, using AI, machine learning, data mining, predictive modeling and sensor analytics. This way companies can improve their business processes by making data-driven decisions, with often impressive and insightful results.
Faction XYZ is an applied artificial intelligence engineering service provider, with headquarters in Antwerp (Belgium). We serve clients with a vision and budget for a future where data science and machine learning will continue to drive our client’s core business in a rapidly transforming economic reality. Our in-depth knowledge of artificial intelligence, conversational agents, and an array of emerging technologies make us the first choice for companies with a vision and budget. We advance your strategic goals by imagining, developing, and implementing the technology stack you need to stay ahead.

EXAMPLES
These are some of the examples the kind of things teenagers put on social media. A lot of teenagers are very open on social media, way more open then they are to their parents or teachers. Currently, as far as I know, all this data is not used anywhere. It is just completely ignored.
It is ignored, while suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in teenagers [NEXT SLIDE]
Second leading cause of death among youth in Canada, according to Statistics Canada,
Accounting for one fifth of deaths of people under the age of 25 in 2011.
The Canadian Mental Health Association says that among 15 – 24 year olds the number is an even more frightening at 24 percent
Signals that an individual plans on self-injury or suicide are hard to isolate.
Text Mining and Text Analytics can help

Why did we do this?
One of the thigns we COULD do: we can come up with a predictive model to predict a probability that someone is dealing with depression or suical thoughts.
But let’s take a step back.
Talk about How we want to use that. Privacy issues. GDPR.
Privacy, GDPR regulations tells us we can’t use data unless we have explicit permission. Even open source.

I have a lot of ideas. And most of them are pretty shitty.
Technology is mature, and has been for the last 10-15 years. Technology is ready, but I feel that companies and governments aren’t yet.
Large scale data mining. For good, or for profit.
It has Value
The technology is ready. The software is ready.
It is easy. It doesn’t have to be hard.
For good, but also for profit.
Just do it. And if you don’t ask me how.
For Good… but also For Profit
Would love to redo this analysis in Belgium. And actually do something useful. If anybodyt knows Maggiie, or somebody close to her who might be interested in this. Let’s redo this.
