  2. 2. ■ Cybercrime is any criminal offence that involves the use of, electronic communications or information systems, including any electronic device, computer, or the Internet. The term, cybercrime, is a general term that covers crimes like , credit card frauds, illegal downloading, industrial , cyber bullying, cyber stalking, cyber terrorism, creation or distribution of viruses, spam and so on.
  3. 3. SOME CYBER CRIME

Cyber Troll and Bulling Cyber troll refers to a person who purposely posts opposing, sarcastic, demeaning or insulting comments about something or someone with an aim of targeting a person online. The p messages posted this way are also called troll.. Trolling is a cybercrime and is closely related to cyber bullying. In fact, it is a form of cyber bullying.

CYBER BULLING ■ Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. ■ Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media. ■ Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. ■ It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation.

Spreading Rumour Online ■ People often think that they can make a fake profile with some different name and do anything online and will not be caught. ■ Through such fake profiles, people sometimes indulge in posting false information on social media, or comments that could hurt others or spread Rumours that may trigger panic or hurt religious sentiments of other people resulting into clashes and even riots etc. ■ Publishing/circulation of Rumors, especially hurting religious sentiments is a cybercrime and it may invite a fine with imprisonment extendable up to three years.

PHISHING ■ Phishing is the practice of attempting to acquire sensitive information from individuals over the internet. ■ Information typically targeted by phishing schemes includes passwords, user- names, bank account information, and social security numbers. The term 'phishing' is a play on 'fishing' - hackers use various forms of 'bait' in order to catch a victim.
  8. 8. ILLEGAL Download ■ Illegal downloading refers to obtaining files for which you don't have the right to use or download from the Internet. It is downloading a paid digital item, without making any payment and using an illegal way to download it. ■ For example, If you are downloading a movie which is not available for free download, this is illegal download. Similarly, downloading a copy of the licensed software bypassing the legal measures is also illegal download.
  9. 9. REPORTING CYBERCRIME If any cybercrime happens, one must report it firstly to parents, school authorities and then to police. The procedure for reporting cybercrimes is more or less the same as for reporting any other kind of offence. Like other countries, India also has Cyber Law enforcement that deals with all types of cyber crimes.
  10. 10. That is how to report a cyber crime ■ The local police stations can be approached for filing complaints just as the cybercrime cells specially designated with the jurisdiction to register complaint. ■ In addition, provisions have now been made for filing of 'E-FIR' in most of the states. ■ In addition, the Ministry of Home Affairs is also launching a website for registering crimes against women and children online including cybercrimes.
