Supporting and promoting alternative livelihood in linewith the forest protection and management plan in Mae Chaemwatershed is becoming a crucial and challenging work at the momentfor the project.

  6. 6. Community Caring and Action Project (CAP)Objective 2: People in the community particular women adoptsustainable agriculture practices through agricultural diversificationand non-agriculture alternative occupations with local knowledge andresources being taken into account.

Community Caring and Action Project (CAP)Objective 3:-In cooperation with 10 schools in Mae Chaem district, 417students in grade 4-6 participate in capacity building training forself-recognition, learning about their own community, and havingsocial awareness.-There are developed 56 initiative project regarding local plantsand livestock. For instant, local plants are grown organically.

Young Leadership Development Project (YLD)GOAL : strengthening youth leadership, life and occupationalskills that enables students to cope with problems that mayarise amidst changing social environment for poor ruralstudents living in rural communities in Nong Khai andUdonthani Provinces.Implementation Highlight5 schools are selected as “school models” transferring theirknowledge/experiences to 15 network schools.“Merck volunteer teachers” organize children learning activity visit 6times.15 schools administrators and 32 teachers have supported and becometo be project facilitators.761 students participate in doing their 65 mini-projects.2 schools establish their own curriculums using child learning centeredmethod. (Ban Tep Pra Tap and Ban Fah Pra Tan school

Self-consciousness/perception building2. Sand environmental awareness building3. Learning-by-doing mini-projects- 761 children express their interests to do 65 mini projects anddemonstrated their skills in occupational skills development,environment and social initiatives.- The project has built capacity in leadership, teamwork, analytical andproblem solving skills, and communication.

Young Leadership Development Project (YLD)Objective 2: Teachers and school administrators insmall schools adopt child-center learning methods.Implementation Highlight- 32 teachers have been trained to be project “facilitator” andunderstand the concept of child learning methods.- 15 schools administrators are engaged in providing advices onhow project implementation would become realistic in eachschool.- 3 schools receive support from local agencies with communities.
