The new pool safety laws started in the year of 2009 and are aimed at reducing incidences in drowning of young children in swimming pools without the necessary safety factors in place or swimming pool without the correct fencing or barrier applications.
2. Nearly all the swimming pools
located in Queensland have
managed to become registered on
the “pool safety” register issued
by the Queensland Government.
Failure to register a swimming
pool will result in a spot fine of
up to $220 or even a type of
maximum penalty up to the
amount of $2,200.

3. Register for Pool Safety
This specific register will include all
the records of the swimming pools
in the Queensland area, as well as
copies of certificates in pool safety
that has been issued. The register
will include all the “pool” safety
inspectors that are licensed in the
Queensland area.

4. Safety Barriers and Pool Fences
Maintenance of safety barriers and
pool fences are an essential element
in reducing the amount of serious
types of immersion injuries and
drowning’s of younger children in
residential swimming pools.

5. One new pool safety law replaces eleven different
types of pool safety standards. These new pool safety
laws are associated to caravan parks, hostels, motels,
hotels, units, townhouses, houses and villa’s. Different
rules will apply depending on buying, renting or
selling properties that have a swimming pool present.

6. Inspections for Pool Safety
Certificates in pool safety have become a
requirement for all swimming pools since December
1, 2010 when leasing, selling or buying properties.
These certificates must be supplied by a safety
inspector.
