22. SOME VERBATIMS
Technical skills are good; but what separates the good PMs from the great PMs are those that can ensure a problem for a
market is being solved, and then, can ensure that a strong strategy is outlined and communicated.
Because good problem solving to me encompasses analysis, communication, conflict resolution and execution
Great Products are solutions that solved a compelling problem
someone who understands the bigger picture
This job is not for the faint of heart, you have to love solving problems, or challenges, because it is never straight forward.
Product mgmt is an influence role - you must win the trust and respect of your cross functional team. It's all about how you
paint the context and for those who disagree - get them to disagree and commit. I would say problem solving and conflict
resolution follow good communication.
One thing misses us follow through. One of the best qualities of one of my PMs is that she follows up and her work gets
done.
