Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2022-23
The district administration has been entrusted by the West Bengal government to undertake
a new survey of PMAY recipients throughout the state. To determine the recipients of the
affordable housing program beneficiaries' eligibility, a new survey has been commissioned.
In locations where less than 15% of beneficiaries are not on the list, the survey is being
done. Its proportion is typically about 25.
The survey crew is under threat in various locations. As a result, the state government will
now give the teams that are checking the recipients' protection.

Latest News On PMAY List 2022-23
District Magistrates must submit the final PMAY beneficiary list by December 31, 2022.
The Central Government has directed that the final list of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
beneficiaries be submitted by December 31, 2022. H.K. Dwivedi, the Chief Secretary,
issued the directives during a video conference call on December 28, 2022.
According to recent reports, up to 11.36 lakh beneficiaries are expected to receive PMAY
financial benefits, i.e., Rs.1.2 Lakh each, for the fiscal year 2022-23 to construct
rural residential houses.
After completing the verification process for each eligible candidate, the state administration
has finalised the names of 1.82 lakh beneficiaries. They must submit a list of the remaining
beneficiaries by the deadline specified.
After the funds are released, construction work on these houses is expected to be
completed within three months. Geotagging has been made mandatory by the Central
Government until construction work is completed.
Types Of PMAY Scheme
The PMAY scheme is divided into two subsections based on the topic on which they focus:
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin - Previously known as the Indira Awas Yojana, the
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) was renamed PMAY-G in 2016. The
scheme's goal is to provide affordable and accessible housing units to eligible beneficiaries
in India's rural areas (excluding Chandigarh and Delhi). The Government of India and the
respective state governments share the cost of developing housing units in the ratio of
60:40 for plain regions and 90:10 for North-Eastern and hilly regions under this scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban - As the name suggests, the Pradhan Mantri Awas
Yojana - Urban (PMAYU) is aimed at India's urban areas. There are currently 4,331 towns
and cities listed in this scheme. The scheme is designed to operate in three stages:
Phase 1: From April 2015 to March 2017, the government aimed to cover 100 cities in
various states and UTs across the country under Phase 1.
Phase 2: From April 2017 to March 2019, the government aimed to cover 200 more cities in
various states and UTs across the country.
Phase 3: In Phase 3, the government aims to cover the cities that were left out in Phases 1
and 2, and to do so by the end of December 2024.
Awas Yojana List 2023 West Bengal
The Mamata Banerjee government has directed district officials to conduct verification
drives in areas where less than 15% of names have been removed from the list of central
rural housing scheme beneficiaries.
The move indicates that the state is serious about removing the names of ineligible
beneficiaries from the list to avoid questions from the Centre.
According to sources in the state administration, the chief secretary's directive was
significant in light of reports of survey teams being threatened by villagers and panchayat
functionaries during verification.
According to reports, South 24-Parganas, Murshidabad, North 24-Parganas, Malda, East
Burdwan, East Midnapore and Hooghly have the most number of village panchayats where
less than 15 per cent of names were deleted.
The state appears to be very serious about preparing a list with as few flaws as possible.
This is because the Centre has made it clear that if funds are allotted to ineligible people, no
new funds will be released.
Under PMAY, Women Own 70% of Homes
Women own the majority of homes under the centrally-sponsored scheme, according to an
SBI Research study of the PMAY. It was reported that according to the report, 123 lakh
homes have been approved under the scheme since 2015. 94 lakh of these are registered
solely or jointly in the names of women. According to the study, six districts in Chhattisgarh,
three in Gujarat, and three in Haryana had the highest share of women borrowers in fresh
home loan disbursal under the PMAY credit-linked subsidy scheme in FY22.
