1. After this the children will be able to know what is weather and to distinguish the components of weather!
2. The weather is all around us, all the time . It is an important part of our lives and one that we cannot control. Instead the weather often controls how and where we live, what we do, what we wear and what we eat.
3. Weather is the day-to-day conditions of a particular place. For example: It was raining today at school. Yesterday it was sunny at home.
4. Weather is made up of different things. Here are some of them...
5. What are clouds? --- A cloud is a large collection of very tiny droplets of water or ice crystals. The droplets are so small and light that they can float in the air. Why are clouds white? -- Clouds are white because they reflect the light of the sun. Light is made up of colors of the rainbow and when you add them all together you get white.
6. What is wind? Wind is air in motion. It is produced by the uneven heating of the earth’s surface by the sun. Two factors are necessary to specify wind: speed and direction.
7. How does rain form? Water droplets form from warm air. As the warm air rises in the sky it cools. Water vapor (invisible water in the air) always exists in our air. Warm air holds quite a bit of water. When enough of these droplets collect together, we see them as clouds. When the drops get heavy, they fall because of gravity, and you see and feel rain.
8. What is temperature? Temperature is a degree of hotness or coldness the can be measured using a thermometer. Temperature is measured in degrees on the Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin scales.
9. What is a thunderstorm? A thunderstorm is a storm with lightning and thunder. Its produced by a cloud, usually producing winds, heavy rain and sometimes hail.
