1. What Does Art Mean To Me Essay
Art is personal; an expression of inner thoughts and desires, affecting the way I not only see the
world but myself. In order for a person to grow they must know who they are, their aspirations, the
true nature of their thoughts, and their actuality of their persona; the physicality of art has given me
this knowledge. With practicing in the arts I am able to grow as a person and I am able to see that
growth within me. For with the expression of creativity, comes an outlet, an outlet of the
unconscious, forming and showing the reality of the mind. This outlet releases internal emotions
and helps me to find tranquility within myself. This state of mind is a supplement for my own
personal problems. Also, I am able to create new ideas, ones that help me see the world in a new
light. I am able to form a relaxing and mesmerizing state of mind, one that leaves me fascinated
with the world around me, along with a deep love for simplicity. Visual arts have truly given me an
insight on my own mind and happiness in my life. This is why I full–heartedly believe and practice
in the arts, to find peace of mind, not in the world, but in myself. The true beauty of art comes not
only from the end product but from...show more content...
Even though I pursue art for myself and my own happiness, I still strive for greatness. I am young
and there is still much improvement that I need in my work, there is always room for growth
and I know that I need it. Whenever I look at my work from the past and the present I see many
imperfections and that is time because there is always time to grow as both a person and as an
artist. Also, exposure to other kids who are interested in visual arts, will enable me to further and
expand on my ideas and on myself. This is truly why I think that attending MFAA will help me
mature and flourish in the

2. Why Therapy Is Important
I believe that what is truly important in therapy, is the ability to empathize with the patient, it is
essential to continue a successful therapeutic process. Empathy must be built from the first meeting
and in many cases when we fail to this, it could be very difficult to build it for the next meetings,
however, it can be achieved. This can happen often with adolescents, I would say that teenagers are
the most difficult population to establish rapport, since this is the shortest stage of life in which we
all feel that we know everything, and also nobody understands us. In addition, some teenagers think
that therapists are outdated and old fashioned dinosaurs, but when empathy has achieved in therapy,
the result is truly rewarding. Although

3. Friendship Essay: Helping a Friend in Need
It is very sad to see a friend or relative suffering or in need, especially when they pretend that
everything is all right. It is a delicate situation when approaching someone in this predicament, as
often a person's pride stands in the way of reaching out for comfort. How to offer your help to an
independent friend or relative in this position requires a bit of clever manipulation and a not–so–
obvious plan in order to help.
If the problem at hand is a financial matter, the first response would be to offer them a loan. On the
other hand, most people would be embarrassed to admit to this, and will perhaps be offended at the
offer. However, instead of outright offering them money, trading a service in return for payment

This will certainly make them feel better and will be helping them out at the same time.
Friends or relatives who have children may experience times when they cannot afford to give
them the luxuries of toys, games or name brand clothing. At the same time, while most children
do not understand hard times, these friends or relatives hurt inside because of this. It would
probably be insulting to them if you bought a bag of toys, a new wardrobe for the kids or a slew
of games and delivered these items in order to help. Overall, there is a way to present such items
in a fashion that will not seem like charity. While honesty is the best policy, lending a helping
hand when we are in a position to do so often takes precedence. Telling our life long friend or
family member that our children received clothing as a gift, but it did not fit, or perhaps received a
duplicate toy or game and offering it to their children is a way to help in times of despair.
Many times when family or friends decide to meet or get together to go out for dinner, drinks, or
even to a movie, we take for granite the expense of these excursions and expect that everyone can
participate. On the contrary, when a friend or relative bows out, the reason why they decline
becomes obvious. Here again, little white lies come in to play, and compassion takes over.
Mentioning to this friend or relative that you

4. How Education Has Impacted My Life Essay
What is education? According to Webster's Dictionary education is defined as, (noun) 1: the action
or process of being educating or of being educated, 2: the field of study that deals mainly with
methods of teaching and learning in schools. What does education provide for us? How important is
education in today's society?
Education is the very foundation in which we as individuals grow, and formulate the knowledge we
gain through life into meaningful ways of adapting to the world.
Education is very important in the sense that in today's society, there is not much success without
education. Education allows us to grow and learn intellectually. It gives us the ability to enhance our
perception of the world as we see it, and construct our...show more content...
Up until I got into high school. I actually enjoyed school prior to my transition into high school. I
was a B student and quite happy with a 3.0 GPA. At the time, I really did not give my education
much thought. In other words, I did not think about my future then, and education had little value
in the great scheme of life. However, I still enjoyed school, and had perfect attendance not missing
a day unless it was absolutely a must. Unless I had a rare case of some unforeseen sickness as to
keep from infecting others with some viscous illness I was suffering from at the time. It was not
until I made the big move into that hierarchy of education that really changed my mind. This new
experience of education was so different, so terrifying, so difficult, and overwhelming that I felt
there was nothing else to do, but stop attending. I failed so miserably bad it cracked and crumbled
the very foundation in which I spent the last nine years constructing. Without this foundation, I was
nothing, I was stupid, and had nothing to offer.
This caused much heartache for several years to come. This also triggered the biggest regret of my
entire life, along with feeding a horrible addiction that began with marijuana and ended with
methamphetamines. Had I stayed in the game, and not thrown in the towel, I would have

6. Reflective Essay On Helping People
We always talked about helping others. I noticed that you love helping people, it gives you joy to
help others, and I think that's something we both share. I understand now, when you cannot help
me, you don't feel the joy. In a way you feel like you can't help me and it may feel like a rejection. I
am not rejecting you when you offer help and I say no. There are times where I should have asked
for help and I didn't, because I thought you couldn't, which isn't an excuse, I should have given
you a chance. I didn't ask for help because I was embarrassed and thought you would think less of
me. I have problems with helping others and my professor actually pulled me aside from the final
and wanted me to write why I felt like I need to be a savoir, and help others so much. I talked to her
after class as a therapist and not a professor. I realized that what I thought was helping, was
actually not. I thought all help was good and it's not. When I go out my way and help others who
been helped their whole lives, I'm just feeding into what they want. I'm not letting them learn on
their own, and will continue to help, and its actually not helping at all. I am guilty of doing that to
you sometimes. I'm always trying to help and it's not real help and we get stuck in the same cycle.

7. Asking For Help Essay
Prior to completing Skip Downing's "On Course Self Assessment," I was starting to realize one of
my most sabotaging behaviors. I find it incredibly difficult to say a three–word phrase. When it
comes to assisting others, I have no problem lending a helping hand, but I cannot tell anyone that "I
need help." In writing this paper I hope to recognize the roots of my problem and adopt a plan to
aid me in overcoming this negative behavior. After I took the self–assessment and received a low
score in the area of interdependence, I began considering options for overcoming my hesitation so
that I may become a successful student. The first strategy is to learn that I cannot do everything by
myself. Typically, I never ask for...show more content...
We cannot know everything, and we can all benefit from mutual helping relationships. I may need
someone to explain something discussed in Psychology class today and that person may need the
favor returned for English. Working together and helping others is important in almost every area
of life. I do not need to feel ashamed for reaching out first. As a result of doing the assessment, I
realized that I seldom request and often reject offers of assistance. A successful student would
employ interdependence by actively seeking out mutually supportive relationships to help achieve
their goals and dreams, while doing the same for others in return. I chose this topic because I do not
want to be a struggling student! Interdependence is a key factor in being successful in college. In
order to obtain a degree a college student must do well in all areas of their studies. To accomplish
that, he or she must comprehend the subject matter taught and apply what they learn. If a student
does not understand something and refuses to ask for help when it is readily available, they are
only hurting themselves. Three little words can make all the difference. By asking someone who is
more knowledgeable than they may be in a certain area, they could find the missing pieces that lead
to total understanding. This will enable them to perform better on my assignments and to keep
moving forward towards that college degree. College can be an

After this english class I am a new writer I am so much better of a writer before. This is a fact I
learned basic grammar rules that are very necessary to writing. I actually really learned them, I
think this is because I really care now. I have learned the rules in the past through many years of
school. But it was not until now my first year of college, and actually wanting to change my life
and my habits I built through all my life in school. The habits of just going to class because I have

something else or not actually putting in my full effort. I did not actually learn the material I was
being handed because I did not care of put in any effort.

9. English 101 Made Me a Better Writer
Everyone on the planet has a goal set in life, but only a handful attempt to improve to obtain their
goal by studying the subject their goal is in. In my English class, English 101 this quarter I was
astonished by how much I had progressed as a writer sharpening my writing skills and also
learned a lot about writing that I hadn't learned before. In my writing portfolio for this quarter I
had to write an autobiography essay, a research essay, and this reflection essay to develop my
writing skills better. The writing assignments were fun to do because it challenged me to work on
essays of different styles that were new to me. The essay assignments helped me grow as a better
writer that gave me the self–confidence and skills to take on the world on my own. During the
beginning of the English 101 when we began the writing process: I thought at first that we spent
too much time on our essays but I soon realized how important it was spending time on the essays
to improve them . The revisions that my teacher and classmates made on my essays were truly
helpful for me because it allowed me to better my writing. For every week in the entire course we
went over the MLA formatting process, annotating, citing within the essay, and how to make the
paper flow better. I had the most troubles in this quarter when I started writing some of my essays
for my portfolio because I didn't have a clue how to start them at first. After a while of brainstorming
ideas and seeing examples the teacher

School is only for the open minded and strong, the weak cannot survive. You may have learned

lifelong lessons to be in a productive society. School holds many things in its classrooms and
hallways. Having great teachers and mentors will benefit you in school. Their wisdom and
knowledge will contribute to you in ways unimaginable. School can teach you plenty and these

is one word that could have described me at a younger age. When nobody believed in me
Ms.Scott took a chance and brought me under her wing and taught me it was acceptable to
embrace my feelings and emotions. For example if someone needs a pencil and you have one to
share gladly offer it to them because it will build on your reputation and if you don't have that you
don't have anything. Kindness will take you very far in life. Take Dr.Suess TheGrinch Stole

showed him any kindness and that slowly but surely ate him from the inside out. Cindy Loue was
the towns innocent sweetheart and she was also the first person to show the Grinch kindness and
that small act of kindness went a long way and warmed his little evil heart. In conclusin, school

Therapy
Today many people seek professional therapy or counseling for a limited amount of time in order
to deal with different life crises. Others seek professional help for the majority of their lives in
order to deal with a psychological disorder. After reading this chapter on Therapy, I learned that this
was not always the case, and that the way our society views therapy, and the meaning of therapy, has
changed dramatically of the years. This chapter not only explains the evolution of therapy, it explores
the different therapeutic approaches.
I found chapter thirteen to be very interesting. Learning about the different types of therapy was very

Trephining was the most disturbing picture. I am still amazed that people thought that anything
whatsoever could be solved by chiseling away at a person's head. The picture of the skull was
extremely disturbing: I cannot even fathom how horrible it would have been to be a patient of such
practices. Also one would think that after the first gaping hole in a person's head with no results, the
chiseling would stop. However it is obvious by the number of holes in the skull that this was a
procedure that was tried multiple times on one patient. Other than the trephined skull, I also found it
unusual that bloodletting was such a common practice. It was particularly troubling to learn that it
was used for treating mania, which is something I have experienced.
All of the information on the different types of therapies has helped me to more fully understand
psychology. This chapter is dedicated to explaining the current methods of treating people with
psychological disorders in order to help them through a rough time in life. This chapter on therapy
shows the side of psychology that is the result of the hard work of a multitude of psychologists and
doctors.

There are many things in the world that can shape a person throughout their lifetime, such as events,

environment are in important in shaping a person. If a person isn't surrounded by people or weren't
in that environment they wouldn't be who they are. My parents, childhood bully, teachers, and

future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers,
documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I

was totally lacking of detailed descriptions, and detailed descriptions are very important for the
audience to create a vivid image when they are reading the description. However, after your lectures,

translations in order to understand the author's purpose. However, after you introduced the four

to understand. For example, the poem "The Georgics of Virgil," I was confuse about the purpose at
first, but after you patiently teach us on finding the audience and context, I was able to get
connected with the author's purpose. I realized this idea also goes for writing. If I am able to identify
the specific audience for my paper, then I can make my purpose more clear. The way you presented
the idea and organized the four elements, as you can see in my notes, was a great model for me to

What is society and how did it help shape me into the person I am today? First, society is the state of
living in organized groups of people. These organized groups of people are the ones that made me
who I am today and will continue to shape me, as I grow older. My version of society is white
middle class people who grow up going to catholic schools. These white middle class people are
only associated with other white middle class people, and very seldom venture out of this little

Our community was like the one Timothy Egan described by saying, "Americans long have had

catholic laws or morals have been put into my head and have helped me become a better person.
The people that drove these morals into my head were my friends and family. So that brings me

The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to

possible. Allowing us as students to get up in front of the class each and every day to conduct
reviews, share about our passions, or present on potential opportunities for other students has
helped us tremendously. It has allowed us to gain experience in front of a large group of peers and
superiors, and it has also allowed us to gain confidence as leaders. This course has also helped me
become more self–aware. Knowing more about how I operate as a leader and a team member will
allow me to avoid conflict and excel not only in my education, but in the workforce as well. By
being more self–aware and by knowing my strengths and weaknesses, I have gained better complex
problem solving skills, and I will continue to be more mindful and focused when dealing with
stressful work conditions. This course has also helped empower me to succeed. It has proved to

1. The way that we can see God's call to mission in this chapter is the way that Moses gives us his
four objections. Now the first of these four objections is when Moses asked,
"Who am I that should go...?" (Ex. 3:11)
To this question God answers by saying,
"I will be with you" (v. 12)
The mission was God's, and he would be with those who carried it, also implying that the mission
was greater than the missionary. The secondobjection was when Mose's asks
"Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and
ask me, 'What is his name? Then what shall I tell them?" (v.13)
All god did to reply to this question was to say "I am who I am" (v.14) and that was the name...show

It is my personal beliefs that these last two kinds of motives are of no use in determining whether
one should become a missionary or not. They are simply irrelevant to ones personal choice; the
primary motives are what makes the person choose the path that God has provided for them. I
belief that God is the only person that can choose the destiny of our lives and that is why these last
motives are of no use.
3. The cycle of missionary service can be divided into seven stages: commitment to go to the mission
field, general training, field selection, focused training, initial adjustment, long–term missionary
service, and reentry to the home culture. In the first step, the missionary is often questioned by peers,
family and co–workers about the need to go as far as they do. This can be a difficult and awkward
as people who are close do not understand that it is a difficult thing to go through. General training
is the next step; it is in this step that people study classes that give the basic foundations for their
chosen work that as well as written courses that help them have a better understanding of the bible.
The third step is the field selection. It is in this step that the place of missionary work is to be
chosen or found, this can be a difficult time for the student as there are so many places to choose
from in the world. The fourth step focuses on training. Formal and

19. Importance of English Class Essay
Taking an English class during college is important for a fundamental education, because
regardless of the major I chose, I must able to communicate well in written and spoken words.
After all, in the future, when I try to obtain a job, the corporations will most likely base their
decision on my ability to express ideas and opinions in a sophisticated and correct manner.
Therefore, increasing my knowledge and skills in English will increase my opportunities to success.
Yet, currently, many students try to avoid taking English class due to the great amount of practice
and dedication that requires. This, in the long run, decreases their abilities to analyze, express and
critique ideas. Personally, taking an English class has made my...show more content...
As a foreign student, English class gave me the opportunity to improve my overall knowledge about
the language. Another writing mistake was thinking what I was going to write in Spanish and then
try to translate it to English. Nevertheless, this does not work. The grammar and idiom differences
would make my writing sound confusing and clumsy. In the future, this could affect my
performance as a professional. And since a sloppy writing will most likely reflect on a person's
poor vocabulary, I am presently learning to improve my vocabulary by reading frequently since it
helps me to be exposing to new words, sentence structures, and styles techniques, which I could use
in my future assignments. During the semester, I learned to focus on my strengths and work on my
weaknesses. I could use my organization, paragraph structure, and transition skills to keep high
quality writing. This will be helpful to assure an above average grade when I take English 102

20. Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as
intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly

now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and...show more content...

experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my
grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter
how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I
have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend
most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very
open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different
backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very
young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have
learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting
differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the
discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a
group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is
most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most
important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe
