The Event First ever Library and Learning Services Conference Aims of the conference: • To raise awareness of the formal and informal research activity that underpins the work in Library and Learning Services • To showcase our most innovative practice • To receive feedback on potential areas for development. Brimming with new ideas to inform practice, advance teaching and learning pedagogy and utilise exciting new technologies.
  4. 4. The Target Audiences • Library and Learning Services colleagues • Academic staff in the University • Colleagues in other LIS organisations

The Promotional Objectives • Attract at least 30 attendees to the conference • Attract a mixture of the three intended audiences • Raise high level support for the conference within the university • Raise awareness of LLS research among all the intended audiences • Create print and web-based publicity materials which reflected the professional nature of the conference content • Support the aims of the conference in raising awareness of research activity and showcasing innovative practitioner research • Achieve positive exposure of Library and Learning Services, both to internal stakeholders and external organisations

The Marketing Plan • ‘Powerful’ brand and professional marketing materials – Logo, A3 poster, A5 leaflet, PowerPoint templates and web page banner by Heppdesigns • WordPress blog http://llsconference2012.wordpress.com/ – Promote the conference – Archive conference presentations – Reflect upon the experience – Gain ongoing feedback • Targeted dissemination campaign – Internal and partner colleges – posters, leaflets, meetings, website, staff communications, email and other internal events – External - various LIS lists, Career Development Group (CDG), SCONUL and LIEM – disseminating to our own research/special interest networks

The Impact • Positive informal feedback - before , during and after the event • Vice-Chancellor backing a move to improve reading lists – based on a research paper • British Library archived the blog as an example of a site of “scholarly or cultural importance” • Blog site selected by ARLIS as a recommended site • External delegates circulated the conference papers and posters • Increased internal interest in engaging with research
