TECHNOLOGY ”
PRESENTED BY
POOJA CHAWAN

UNDER THE GUIDENCE OF
Prof. ARUNKUMAR TADKAL
INTRODUCTION
 The terms “wearable technology”, “wearable
devices”, and “wearable” all refer to electronic
technologies or computers that are incorporated into
items of clothing and accessories which can
comfortably be worn on the body.
CONTD....
• Wearable Device performs same task as similar to
mobile phones & laptop computers. Wearable
technology could be anything from a small wrist
mounted system to a bulky head mounted display as
shown below:
• A typical wearable device will have a motherboard worn
inside a fashion garment, connecting all the components of
the system.
• The components will be placed at different parts of the body
as per the user convenience.
• User input to the device is either mostly voice driven or
sensed from gestures or body motion.
• The display and audio output generated by the device will be
relevant to the context and environment.
How does a Wearable Technology look?
FEATURES
Consistency :
There is always a constant interaction between the
device and the user and hence there is no need to turn
the device on or off.
Multi-Tasking :
Wearable device provides computational support even
when the user’s hands, voice, eyes, or attention is
actively engaged with the physical environment.
Mobility :
Wearable devices must go where the wearer goes.
They are always on and their wearer can access them
anytime.
CHARACTERISTICS
 Unrestrictive
When using it you can do other things.
 Observable
It can keep your attention continuously if you want it to
 Controllable
It is a responsive system. You can grab control of it at
any time you want
Contd.…
Communicative
It can be used as a communications medium when you
want it to.
 Attentive
Wearable device is environmentally aware, multimodal,
and multisensory
Un monopolizing
Wearable device does not cut you off from the outside
world.
TECHNOLOGIES
 PEBBLE
 GOOGLE GLASS
 FITBIT TRACKER
 FIN
 SIGN LANGUAGE RINGS
1.PEBBLE
•Pebble (Smart watch) with features as memory storage,
Bluetooth, vibrating motor ,ambient light sensors.
•These extend its use beyond just displaying time into many
roles like activity tracking, gaming ,map display and more.
•When connected via Bluetooth , it vibrates and displays
text messages, emails, incoming calls .
2.google Glass
Google glass is a wearable device
with an optical head-mounted
display(OHMD).
It consists of Touchpad, camera
and Display.
Wearer communicate with the
Internet via natural language voice
commands.
Uses Google applications ,also
sharing to social n/w ,photo
manipulation ,facial recognition
etc.,
3.Fitbit Tracker
 The Tracker measures steps taken, and combines it with user data
to calculate distance walked, calories burned , floors climbed and
activity duration and intensity.
 It uses an OLED display to display and
information such as the battery level.
 A wireless base station is included to
receive data from the Tracker and
When connected to a computer
the base station will upload data to
the Fitbit website, where a number of
features are available: seeing an overview of physical activity.
4.Fin
 Fin, is a device which can be wore on thumb and act as a
centralized remote to control devices like smartphone , laptop,
automobile or home automation system.
 Fin creates Bluetooth connection
with these devices and can support
three devices at a time.
•It makes your palm as a virtual keypad
where you can use your thumb to give
various commands to any of the three
devices connected to that ring.
5.Sign Language Rings
-tracks signing &
translates
-bracelet storage
• Military Field
Application AREA
Army's Land Warrior
A. Eye piece display Friendly
Positions Maps Mission data.
B&C. Mic and Earphones.
D. Input device that acts as a
mouse.
E. Laser range finder to send
data about targets to others
F. Thermal Sight for night vision
G. Video Camera Send Pictures
and clips Shoot around corners.
 Medical Field
- Health monitoring
- Data can be viewed in real time via wireless link
• Face Recognition
Working in conjunction with an appropriate face-finding
software, face recognition system can be adapted for use in
wearable computing
ADVANTAGES
 Portability.
 Hands-free use.
 Comfortable.
 Always on for the task it is designed.
 Quick to access.
LIMITATIONS
 Equipment can be heavy.
 Expensive.
 Some Wearable Device can consist of a lot of wiring.
 Can cause irritation in heat.
 Side-Effects such as Headaches.
 It may become easier to get data on an individual if
the item is lost / stolen.
CONCLUSION
Wearable technology will provide safety, efficiency and
comfort for users. It is true extension of mind and body.
Enhances the quality of life of the user at work place and
in all parts of daily life. Whatever area it is applied to, it
will improve the quality of life and make day-to-day life
less complicated.
