Design Thinking is a methodology that provides a solution-based approach to
solving problems.
Designers’ work processes can help us systematically extract, teach, learn and
apply these human-centered techniques to solve problems in a creative and
innovative way – in our designs, in our businesses, in our countries, in our lives.

The Challenges of Innovation
Superior solutions (탁월한 솔루션)
Lower risks and costs
Employee buy-in (직원들의 지지)

7 Steps of Design Thinking
1. Immersion Takes an ethnographic approach and walks through the customer’s
experience, thereby gaining deeper understanding and uncovering unarticulated needs.
2. Sense Making Collects the observations and data considered most important, then
invites key stakeholders to note the data they consider most essential and group them.
3. Alignment Without constraints, have creative discussions to determine what the criteria
should be of the new design.
4. Emergence Using the new design criteria, brainstorm individually, then share ideas and
build on them, brainstorming solutions.
5. Articulation The group questions the assumptions implicit in them. But rather than
simply arguing that something will or won’t work, design thinking frames the conversation
in terms of what would have to be true in order for an idea to be successful.
6. Pre-experience One doesn’t need a polished prototype to test an idea; even helping
testers imagine the result helps them assess it in a productive way. The incompleteness
invites interaction with those evaluating the idea.
7. Learning in Action Experiments in the real world bring to the surface what changes make
the idea successful and lead to further developments.

Customer Discovery
Identifying ‘the job to be done’
Sense making (맥락 파악)
Gallery Walk 기법

Idea Generation
Identifying ‘solutions conforming the criteria’
22. 22
The Testing Experience
Learning in action (실행을 통한 학습)
Identifying ‘the changes needed to work’

Discussion
1. 디자인씽킹에 의해서 앞서 논의된 ‘The Challenges of Innovation’이 해결
될까?
