Community Service & Philanthropy
Community service is an important aspect of Sorority Life. Participation in
community service builds character through the realization of the needs of others.
All sororities sponsor chosen philanthropies supported by collegiate and alumni
chapters.
They also participate in different service projects in the community and here on
CSUF campus.
Sororities and Fraternities together donate over $57,000 each year to Camp Titan
(CSUF’s philanthropy).

9. Benefits of Sorority
Membership
Socials
With over 35,000 students on campus, sorority creates many opportunities to help your daughter
get to know other students on campus as well as adjust to college life.
Many of your daughter’s fondest college memories will be developed through social interaction.
Sororities provide the chance to make new friends and have fun.
Sororities offer exchanges, retreats, Sorority and Fraternity mixed events, formals and sisterhood
events to help your daughter meet an array of new people constantly. Also, many sororities
have events that include parents such as Mother-Daughter & Father-Daughter events.
10. Benefits of Sorority
Membership
Networking
Sorority life is not just during our collegiate years, but lasts a lifetime.
Being a part of a sorority can help your daughter find that perfect job when she
graduates. Our sororities have a strong relationship with their alumnae, which give
many opportunities for job placement after college.
Once your daughter graduates, she can even continue her service in her sorority.
Many groups have active alumni/graduate chapters providing opportunities for
continued involvement.
11. Financial Information
Average Sorority Costs
Annual Fees- $1,400.00
New Member Fees- $200.00
Annual Live-In Fees
Though some sororities may vary in monthly dues and
payment plans, they all average out at the end of the year.
12. Time Commitment
The more your daughter puts into sorority life, the more she will get out of it.
Weekly Monday (or in some cases Sunday) meetings are mandatory by each
chapter. These meetings are to let your daughter know what is happening in
the chapter, the activities during the upcoming weeks and any new news
that might be important for the chapter to know.
Greek speakers, chapter retreats and sisterhood events are also obligatory
events. Estimate about 3-6 hours per week, depending on events.
