WALT:
Start to understand the basicsof
the high jumping. Understand
how to do a scissors kit jump.
WILF:
Do a scissors kit to get over a
flexible bar, onto the high jump
mat.
Warm up
Tag, whilst running, then jumping with left
leg, then right leg.
Stretching as a group.
Teach the technique of doing a scissors
kick to get over the bar.
Key points: i) big arch on the run up, to
make sure you are side on at the mat. ii)
Jump with your outside leg iii) drive up
with the inside leg and swing yourarms up
for power. iv) Kick the inside leg over and
then follow with the outside leg to end
standing on the mat.
Practice: Pupils practice on two mats, split
into boys and girls. Reinforce the key
points; and give feedback to individualsas
they do a jump as to what to improve next
time.
Teach: Pick a pupil that is very good at
the technique ordemonstrate yourself,to
give pupils a model to try and copy.

2 JAVELIN
WALT:
Understand the technique of
throwing a javelin.
WILF:
Pupils to throw a javelin with
the basic technique.
Warm up
Zone ball: two zones on either side of the
football field. One teamtries to get the
ball into the zone, with someone catching
it to score a point, the otherteamtrying to
do the same in the otherzone. You can
only intercept the ball, not steal it. Focus
on pulling throw.
Explore: In groupsof 2/3,one throws,
then when instructed the next person
collects, and getsready to throw on the
instruction to.

WALT:

WILF:

basic technique.
Warm up – Throwing possession game in
teams try and get the ball across the score
line for a point (to warmup shoulders
ready to throw)
Teach the correct stance, correct way to
hold the shot,(shot in neck, clean palm
dirty neck, high elbow, sideways on and
push!)

Look at weight transfer.
Develop by aimand speed in movement to
throw further.

technique (FOBISSEA). Have a
competition with partner trying to out
jump them.
Look at armmovement to ensure forward
momentumand talk about marking from
the body part nearest take off.
Develop – into a one step 1-2 footed
takeoff. Driving non take off leg up for
power.
Develop to sand pit, look at short run up, 1
foot take off, forward momentumand
landing in the pit with 2 feet. Measure.
