a) Forrester forecasts that mobile retail will grow from $12 billion in 2013 to reach $27 billion within the next three
years, although retailers remain cautious about how much investment they should earmark for mobile.
2. Consumers Who Make Purchases On Mobiles Are Young, Male, And Affluent
b) It's also important to look at which consumers aren't buying through the mobile channel. Those online mobile consumers
who are buying products with their phone are typically buying within the same categories that early eCommerce
shoppers did -- apparel, event tickets, and hotel reservations.

Windows Phone is now the third-leading mobile phone platform, selling 7 million units in the first quarter of
2013 for 3.2% market share. The Windows Phone more than tripled its market share YoY and more than
doubled unit sales.
Pebble, a smartwatch that easily connects to iPhone and Android smartphones using Bluetooth, raised more
than $10 million from Kickstarter and received $15 million in first round funding from Charles River Ventures.
– As a result of the anticipated success of this product, Apple, Google, and several other companies are rumored to be working
on similar devices.

– Overall, mobile accounts for just under 40% of time spent on social media. Both Twitter and Facebook have passed the 50%
