- Ronald Currie and Annie McIntosh were brother and sister of John Currie. Ronald ran a stage coach on the Portage. William Currie remembers living at the Halfway house with his aunt and uncle.
- Law was an English immigrant who worked in a London Store but wanted to farm. He and his wife came to the Halfway House property then owned by Dr. T.V. Devey.
- About the time the war broke out, Mrs. Law gave birth to a baby girl, the first child, she was told later, to be born at a stopping house. Law went to serve overseas and died at in WW1.
