2. Does Bullying Vary Between Genders
• I decided on this question because I thinks girls
are the root of all evil and they created bullying.
• I did extensive pre searching I looked through a
series of library catalogs and databases. I also had
a lot of help from my group members and from
the best teacher at UWG Professor
CRITTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. Boys bully physically, girls bully
psychologically
Argument Question
• My argument is that boys • I answered my research
bullying in a more question by finding
physical and animalistic information in books
way trying to be the alpha articles and websites.
male. Girls try to be the
alpha female also but
they do it through mental
and psychological control
or bullying.
4. My Research
• The Article: "Affective and Cognitive Empathy as Mediators of Gender
Differences in Cyber and Traditional Bullying This article hit my topic right on
the head by trying to distinguish the different types of bullying by genders. The
article did a study on a large group of teenagers ranging from thirteen to eighteen. It
measured the role of cognitive and affective empathy. This is how they were able to
find out witch technique was being used.
• The book: Bullying: the bullies, the victims, the bystanders. I chose to use this
book because both authors engage on all of the different types of bullying in school and
how each person involved is affected, which includes the bully, the bullied, and the
bystander. Each author reports their results of many studies including personal research.
Their personal research is used to discuss actual incidences of bullying at school and they
list many sources to try and help prevent and reduce this bullying behavior.
• The website:<http://www.josephswan.org.uk/?page_id=3296>. This website
was packed with information about bullying. It was very helpful o get another persons
point of view on the broad topic of bullying. but it also broke is down into sub categories of
bullying.

5. Evaluation process
• Credibility
• The article and the book were both written by
professors and scholars from universities and
the website was done by a novelist with twenty
five years of experience.
6. What are the effects of cyberbullying on teenage
girls?
• The reason that I chose this research question is that
cyberbullying has become more prevalent with the growth of
social media. I chose to focus on teenage girls specifically ,
because they tend to be more critical of their self image,
reputation, etc. I was able to narrow my research question
from “What is cyberbullying and what are its effects” as I feel
that understanding the effects of cyberbullying amongst
teenage girls is geared towards helping us come to a solution
for this problem.
7. Because teenage girls are often most targeted by
cyberbullying, knowing the effects on teenage girls may
help lead to prevention.
• My approach to cyberbullying is this:
▫ Twice as many females are affected, therefore, studying how
cyberbullying affects them as a whole may help us to fully
understand why cyberbullying occurs and how best to prevent it.
• Self image, confidence, and reputation may be affected by
cyberbullying.
• In most serious cases, individuals are driven to inflict self
harm.

9. Evaluation Process
• The sources that I used to support my argument
discussed the problem at hand, how to identify the
problem, and the necessary steps to prevent/ resolve
cyberbullying problems.
• The sources I used were peer reviewed, published
within the last five years, and written by authors who
are knowledgeable in this field.
11. “The psychological effects of
bullying”
• I believe that this question was important in order to understand the
psychological problems that come from bullying even after the
bullying has stopped. Also to show the different types of bullying
that victims go through and there effects. I was able to narrow the
question from effects of bullying which include the physical aspect
of bullying to the psychological effects of bullying . I believe this
would be a more interesting topic as these effects can be long lasting
and can go unnoticed if a cause such as bullying is unknown and not
addressed correctly.
12. By revealing the psychological effects
of bullying, the public can see the
value of bullying prevention.
• My position is to bring awareness and explain the psychological
effects of bullying in order to allow others to see problems that can
come from it. Consequences form bullying can affect the mental
state of a child and reduce his ability to perform successfully in
school. To bring awareness to it’s problems and how serious they
can be in hopes of more people taking action and working on
solutions on reducing bullying in school. Bullying can be overt but
also take more subtle forms in which the effects aren’t as apparent
even to the victim(s) but can still have long-lasting effects .
13. Research
• Book - Failing Grades: This book speaks mainly on the effects of
bullying on a victim’s school success and therefore their future
success.

on the individual.

14. Evaluation Process
• All of the resources I choose were relevant to the
position that was proposed more so then other’s that
dealt with bullying and listed it’s psychological effects
and problems associated with it.
• I also looked to sources of authority such as
www.bullyonline.org which as an information source is
ranked highly over other website sources.
• The author’s credibility was also important with many
having PHD’s and/or serving high positions in
organizations dealing with the topic.
16. What are the Long-Term Effects of
Bullying on the victim?
• I decided on this question:
▫ Because I was curious about the topic
▫ I have an interest in self esteem.
▫ I broadened it from “How bullying effects self
esteem”
17. The effects of bullying last well
beyond childhood
• Carrying characteristics of being victimized can
hinder job market success.
• Being bullied in the past and effect how
academic environments are approached in the
future.
