Besides the CSR award, SABMiller India’s Royal Challenge beer won the ‘Best Beer- Connoisseur’s choice’ award and its premium beer Foster’s won the award for the best stall at the event exhibition.

SABMiller India, India’s leading brewing company, bagged the CSR initiative of the year award at the just concluded alcobev trade
conference INDSPIRIT 2009, organized by SAP Media, the publisher’s of liquor magazine Ambrosia. Besides the CSR award,
SABMiller India’s Royal Challenge beer won the ‘Best Beer-Connoisseur’s choice’ award and its premium beer Foster’s won the
award for the best stall at the event exhibition. Organized annually, INDSPIRT offers a platform to the industry to come together to interact and share
their initiatives in the field of CSR and environment among other things. The award recognizes the initiatives of SABMiller India in the areas of water, HIV and
barley farming

2. Designed as Public Private Partnerships, these projects are aligned to the company’s 10 sustainable development priorities that take into account the group’s
commitment and support to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sundeep Kumar, Director – Corporate Affairs and Communication, SABMiller India, said, “Our programs reflect our global
focus on managing water sustainably and encouraging enterprise development. The water projects for instance demonstrate our commitment to support strategies
for sustainable integrated water resource management at the catchment scale using science-based technologies and community participation.
We also address local priorities – such as HIV/AIDS – and are increasingly developing partnerships with NGOs, governments and other civil society partners, to
make sure our projects are sustainable and inclusive. We abide by the belief that business is inextricably woven into the social framework it operates in and the
factors affecting the society have a lasting effect on it.”
Some of SABMiller India’s CSR initiatives include, holistic water management initiatives such identification of natural recharge sites, productivity enhancement
initiatives, promoting shift towards less water intensive crops. Creating awareness about HIV/AIDS in the nearby communities and amongst truckers visiting the
breweries and social initiatives such employment and education camps, animal husbandry camps etc for of barley farmers in Rajasthan
Besides the CSR award, SABMiller India’s Royal Challenge beer won the ‘Best Beer
