This document discusses a study analyzing the effectiveness of open educational resources (OER) on first-year higher education students' logical-mathematical skills in Chile. The study used quantitative and qualitative methods, randomly assigning students to treatment groups using either OER or traditional resources. Results showed that students in face-to-face classes using semi-open OER performed significantly better on exams than students not using extra resources or using an open textbook. However, these students had significantly lower attendance levels than other students. The study concludes OER can improve exam performance but may negatively impact attendance.
