2. Technology Connects The use of technology allows students to broaden their horizons and think outside the box, allowing them to go places and see things they might never have before. The Web connects students to experts in the real world and provides numerous opportunities for expressing understanding through images, sound, and text (Edutopia, 2008).
3. Technology Inspires Creativity Technology inspires students to create in ways they have never done before. Innovative teachers use iPods and other handheld devices to inspire their students to create story boards and other collaborative assignments (Tech and Learning, 2009). Technology allows students to see the world from a different perspective and use that technology to create something new. http://www.techlearning.com/article/26018
4. The use of handheld devices improves test scores. “Social Studies teacher Todd Schmidt acted as the guinea pig for the Los Alamitos Unified School District in using a hand-held, question-and-answer program called Qwizdom that he says helps students better learn and retain information (Fletcher, 2010).” It allows teachers to know who is getting it and who is not. They can specialize their instruction around student needs gaining insight into how their students learn.
