We’re firm believers in sharing – that’s no surprise. So on the day of our annual event we have lots of content to share with you. How do we handle the live reporting?
Our live reporting coordinator Oliver de Leeuw likes to explain his role as a content enabler: “I see four different disciplines creating content that need to be brought together. As Jim once described himself as the mere conductor of an orchestra, my job is to ensure all stringed instruments play well together. Can you imagine an orchestra of soloists? The four live content teams need to talk to each other under a huge amount of stress. That’s the only way to become a content hub. Now don’t get me wrong: this takes a lot of planning, thinking and collaborating.”
Which 4 content teams do you coordinate?
“First of all there’s the huge video team, a job well organized since 2009 by our partner Feller Media. Our lead photographer Martijn Zijerveld manages the input of 8 professional photographers chasing the most interesting images all around the event. Then we have over 12 bloggers and their 2 proof readers for whom I’ve made a precise planning. And of course we have a full blown social media team in place, who spend their time evenly sharing (content) and caring (reactions). This year we found a partner in Social Inc. to manage all of that. Did you know we’ve been a trending topic on Twitter all day since 2009?”
Where can people follow the live reporting?
“Everything is brought together on the top of TEDxAmsterdam.com, accessible on all devices. The livestream is available to anyone right here, starting at 8.00 in the morning until the very final second, ending the 5th edition. Underneath the live video player you will find an overview of newest blog posts, latest videos and the most recent curated photos. It’s a special one day addition to the new website I created with MediaMonks.”
So, why are you creating all this content?
“Spreading ideas is what we do! With the technology available in our pockets we have the luxury to be able to share these ideas with so many more people than the few visitors we can host in the Concertgebouw. We offer free knowledge and inspiration. We connect great minds to engage with a diversity of ideas. We want to contribute and hope to accelerate positive transitions in various sectors boosting innovation and improving the lives of many. But we need to tell those stories, or no one knows about these ideas.”
What other live content can we expect?
“Well, next to the free live stream our team will produce almost 40 blog posts: one for every speaker, one for every musical act and one about each behind-the-scenes video report. These will also contain photos, of course. We’re planning to interview most of the speakers in a tv studio.
