Impact of Technology in the Workplace Essay
The Impact of Technology in the Workplace The impact of computer technology in the workplace
has been enormous within the past decade, both positive and negative. Distant communication
through the use of computers and mobile devices have overhauled the office setting completely.
Email, social networking sites and the world of the Internet have opened a whole new avenue of
communication. Technology has changed the entire workplace environment, the relationships, and
how things get done. Office workers and businesses are not limited to phone calls, meetings or mail
to communicate with each other anymore. Electronic email can be used and not interrupt the

Years ago, the final draft of a document went through several stages. The first draft was typed on
a type writer, edited for corrections and revisions were made. It took time for the document to be
read and reviewed by several persons before all corrections and additions were made. Then, the final
copy was re–typed with corrections. Through the use of computers, grammar, spelling, and
punctuation can be corrected and changed within the document instantly as the person types.
Mailing documents took time as well. Someone had to make a trip to the post office, purchase
postage, etc. With the use of virtual meetings, money is saved by eliminating the cost of travel.
Participants can be actively involved without leaving their own office or home. When there are
problems or urgency, solutions and reactions can occur quickly. There is acceleration of decision
making with the use of technology. Communication can occur anywhere at any time. Job applicants
no longer actually visit businesses to complete an application. Resumes and other documents can be
uploaded and easily accessible to the Human Resource Manager. Online postings, applications, and
screeners provide applicants the luxury of completing this process from their own home. Likewise,
businesses are able to obtain a great deal of information and select qualified applicants for further
evaluation. With the absence of the traditional office, physical face to face

Why I Want To Be A Writer
I want to be a writer when I grow up. Being a writer is hard. The success of your job is dependent
not only on whether you have done it well but also on whether other people think you have done
well. I would like to be a writer. I don't know if I can do it. It's like any other job; you never know
until you try. But few other jobs are as dependent on the opinions of others and on something that
has no basis in fact or logic. One word out of place can tear a whole work apart, and yet a few black
and white words arranged just so can unleash a world of color and feeling. A spark of inspiration
can create a new world from nothing, metaphorically speaking. It is the gift of God. He gives some
people a story to tell and the ability to tell it. Like any gift from God, it is something to be used to
His glory and not taken lightly. To use any gift takes work....show more content...
In college you can major in Creative Writing but many authors recommend that you do not.
Instead, they advise that you study Literature instead, the great works of authors past and present.
If you don't know what is good, how can you write something good yourself? Or you can do this
outside of college and simply read the great works of literature on your own, studying what makes
these writers great, what writing tricks and techniques make up their style. The purpose is not to
copy them; the purpose is to be inspired. To be awriter you must write. This is the most important
piece of advice. Write anything, even if it's as flat as the floor. The more you use words, the more
they become willing to be used by you. The more you write, the more you have something to write.
Writing is both a skill and a gift. It is both acquired and

Essay On Job Opportunities
Employment Opportunities The Career and Internship Center at UW provides students with the
opportunity to gain a job, especially through their HuskyJobs system, a database that tells students
any job openings or internships all over campus. The jobs with the most availability on campus are
in the library, housing and food services, department of recreational sports, the university bookstore,
and the UW foundation – student calling system. However, some of the academic apartments also
offer internships to students, and those positions are very competitive since it gives a boost to one's
career, but there are also job opportunities in the athletic department. Compared to other schools,

are available at the school. Currently, their football team is doing pretty well, as they are seeded
in the top 25 of Division I football and are in the hunt to go to the BCS playoffs. In addition to
intercollegiate sports, UW also offers intramural sports and club sports. For their intramural
sports, they offer everything from basketball to softball to soccer, but one thing that did catch my
eye was that they have a 6 feet and under intramural basketball league, which is something I had
never seen before. For their club sports, they are student led organizations that compete against
other colleges. They club sports that they offer are sports that are in demand by the students, and
not all of the common, classic sports are available as club sports. For example, they don't offer
basketball as a club sport, nor softball, but they do offer water polo, ice hockey, and kayaking,
which must be sports that have a large enough student backing in order to be club sports. Club
sports are competitive, as they do compete against other colleges, so I don't think I am good enough
to play a club sport, but I would definitely like to get involved in intramural sports when I go to
college, since they sounds fun and a good way to socialize. Greek Life at UW is relatively popular,
as there are over 30

Job Experience Essay
Nearly seven years ago, when I started working for the local DirecTV installation company, it
wasn't exactly a dream come true. I had the aptitude for it, having worked previously as a home
theatre installer back in Kansas City, but this job was much easier by comparison. What made this
job less than desirable were the hot attics, damp crawlspaces where I wasn't always the only thing
crawling around and the loose eaves near ideal dish mounting locations that were often home to
swarms of hornets.
Less than a week into the job I was offered a promotion of sorts. They needed inspectors to verify
that things were done correctly at several installation locations each week and they wanted someone
who hadn't been around long enough to make...show more content...
The best part of this situation for me was the pay. I was making $12.50 per inspection. That's over
$1500 per week! Despite the great pay, I had been unemployed for nearly a month before starting
this job and because of tool costs to get started hadn't taken home much during my first week as an
installer. The first paycheck I received had an error in it. I was told by my Manager at the Paducah
Office to call the corporate office and talk to payroll directly and they would handle it. I regularly
heard new employees being told, "Call payroll and ask for an advance", not just due to pay errors,
but also to cover the startup costs of tools and ladders. This advice would soon lead to disaster.
For the first time in several months I was going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my daughter for the
weekend. I had received one puny paycheck and one nice one, but had spent everything to get
caught up on bills that had accumulated during my unemployment. So, I did what experience and
observation had taught me to do, I called payroll and asked for a relatively small advance to cover
my weekend trip. Without incident a check showed up at the office the next day and my wife and I
were off for a fun weekend with my daughter. It wasn't until late the next week that all hell began to
break loose.
I was on the road somewhere in Southern Illinois when I received an angry call from the district
manager inquiring why I had "bypassed" him and gone

Job Skills Essay
Laura G. Thompson Angie Miller English IV November 6th, 2014 Important Job Skills There are

My Career as a Teacher Essay
As I begin my rewarding career as I teacher, I sit and reflect on what my goals and priorities are in
the classroom. I am excited to be engaged in a future career where I can implement my own beliefs
and mold the future into something extremely positive. I believe the most important aspects that I
want to bring to my students are threefold: I want to educate, motivate, and inspire.
In order to have a productive learning environment where I will be able to educate my students,
many different factors must take place. First and foremost, it is important to me that I master
exceptional classroom management skills. Effective and efficient learning takes place when
expectations in the classroom are consistent and clear. Also, discipline in...show more content...
These learning styles include; auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. By mastering and using as many
learning styles as I can, I will make sure each student is able to get the most out of their learning
experience. I understand that every child learns differently and understanding how to use different
approaches in each lesson plan will benefit every student. Not only is it important to use different
learning styles but I will also use different teaching styles during the curriculum. The different
methods I would like to use to teach my lessons include but are not limited to; scientific investigation
which uses the scientific method. The scientific method includes first investigating the problem,
coming up with a logical hypothesis, performing the experiment, reading the results, and finally
completing an analysis of the results. The next method I would explore is decision making which
is the thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. Next is problem
solving. When I teach the students to problem solve accurately they be able to overcome obstacles
and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which
includes identification and evaluation to problem solving. Finally, I will use the method of
cooperative learning which is an approach to organizing classroom activities into academic and
social learning experience. I believe that every one of these method can be valued

Essay about A Career in Graphic Design
Most people grow up dreaming about becoming an actor, singer, or a professional athlete. They
want to be famous, for people to know their name, and they also probably want to make a large
amount of money. While getting into one of those professions is slim to none, there is a career that
can offer some of the same exciting opportunities. A graphic designer is an interesting job because it
allows creativity and artistry, combines designing with business and marketing, and gives an
opportunity to become well–known in the field. Louise Horton once summed up the job description
of the graphic designer by referring to him or her as the "Architect of the Printed Page" (Horton).

They can work at their own homes or can obtain a space in an art studio (Horton). The U.S. Bureau
of Labor Statistics has confirmed that this type of work in the graphic design world has been
becoming increasingly popular by stating that in 2010, about thirty percent of all graphic designers
were self–employed (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). As with all jobs, free–lancing does have its
advantages as disadvantages. An advantage is that free–lancers have an opportunity that most other
graphic designers do not, and that is to make an incredible amount of money if they create an
extraordinary piece of art. They do not have to share their money with anyone if they make a good
sale. (Gordon). Another advantage is that there is no one telling them what they have to create, no
one is holding them back from their possible success. They are in charge of their own reputation,
may it be good or bad (Gordon). A disadvantage is that there can be long stretches of time where
business cannot be found, and that can cause some free–lancers to have to work more than one job
(Gordon). Free Lance is very risky and most people prefer a job with a guaranteed, steady, income
than the insecurity of free–lance (Gordon). Whether working on one's own, or involved with a
business, it is very important to have the proper experience before setting out for a job. Art classes

Essay On Applying For A Job
So you have decided to apply for a job; well, it's time to write your resume. It may seem like a lot
of hard work and time but once you've got your mindset and know your own capabilities writing a
resume will be a breeze. The resume helps the employer understand what you have accomplished
so far and why you should be hired for the position you applied for. A resume should consist of
where you had volunteered or played a sport, what transferable skills you could deliver to the
workplace and why you think you should be hired. Volunteering and extracurricular activities are

Careers are constantly changing within the job market which means applicants have to
constantly develop new skills to meet the requirements of that job. Transferable skills are
essential in anchoring your next career however, you should also consider whether your skills
are compatible with the career you have in mind. Employers always make sure that they hire the
correct person for the position they have open. You have to make sure that you actually want this
job, it's suited to your skills and that you will perform well in the given workspace. Always
include why you think the you're the right candidate for the job; be confident enough to state
your opinion to your employer. Allowing the employer to see how confident your desire is for
this position will make them see how well you will work; they'll want a person that can work
comfortably in that job. Always mention what you could bring to the workplace; how you could
be an asset. Again, mention how your transferable skills can be put to use to benefit the company
that you have applied to work for. Showing the employer how much they could benefit by hiring
you is what will make you a more desirable choice compared to your competitors, this is your
opportunity to show what you're capable of. Always have the confidence to state why you think you
deserve this job and what you have to offer. The job market is a competitive place, volunteering

My Dream Job: Being a Lawyer Essay examples
"The jury has made their decision, the plaintiff has been found guilty." These are the words that

When you buy an apple product you're not just buying the actual product your buying what the

In conclusion, Steve Jobs changed the world not only with the invention of the Apple II in 76'which

My Experience As A Reader And Writer
As a reader and writer I always faced given assignments with the intent of doing exceptional jobs
and take a sense of pride in my work to complete my tasks. As a reader, I will bore myself through
out an entire book and realize I didn 't understand a single thing. Although as a writer, I can go on
for so long losing myself on a topic because it feels more interactive. Reflecting on my experiences
as a reader and writer have been very bold, I never really found a joy or an interest to become the
exceptional student who stands out amongst others because, I always felt ok with myself and my
results with the way I did things. A Majority of the time I will only read what I have been
assigned because reading will not be my preference of task simply because I will lose focus and
wonder off into thinking about what my girlfriend might be doing. My useful method that I
discovered about myself when reading alone so I can remain focused is looking up summaries of
the book like spark notes, before I read so I can understand the text more clearly. It is probably the
worst thing to do because it does ruin the suspense or purpose of reading the book anyways, but it
helps with remaining concentrated. I feel that I am this way because I am really picky with what I
like to read, which in my case may be informative magazines like Men's health that can teach me
something useful. I don 't have the best experiences with reading, possibly because teachers never

My Dream Job Being A Lawyer
I envision my dream job being a lawyer for many reasons. I would like to be a lawyer because I like
to argue my point and look for evidence. For example, I get really competitive when I debate with
my brothers about politics and logic. It is really fun for me to back up my topics with logic and
facts. I like the feeling I get when I already know what I am going to say and I have the facts and
logic to prove it. I would also like to be a lawyer because I get to help my clients' cases.
Additionally, I love thinking critically and using clues to come to a conclusion. Ever since I was
a little kid, I loved thinking about things in a critical and/or different way. I also loved the idea of
being a detective that would look for clues. I even read stories and watched shows where the
detective would come to a conclusion and back it up with facts. I really loved how the detective
would blow everyone away with the evidence he found. I also loved when the detective would
think in different ways about the clues and retrace his steps if he came to a false conclusion. I
picture myself to be a lawyer because lawyers argue and support their point, help their clients, and
think critically. I will become a lawyer by following many procedures. One of which will be to ask
questions to role models and other lawyers about how they got to where they are now. For example,
I could choose to follow in Phil Beck's footsteps and observe how he does things. It is always nice to
have a role model because

chemical, mechanical, textile, civil, agricultural and structural engineers. Our civilization would be
as advanced as the Stone Age without these people. This career demands a wide education of math

(Britannica 243) Another disadvantage of being an engineer is the actual status of being one. It is
not looked upon as highly as other fields such as doctors and lawyers. Most of the time they are

presidents or top executives. They do not have the accounting or business education to do that

The job of an engineer itself is a creative job. The actual definition of an engineer is "The

problem and are depended on to come up with a solution. Whether it be a new chemical, a
mechanical part, or even a whole new system such as computer operating program, engineers are the
problem solvers of our materialistic society. (Basta 45)
Many engineers work in laboratories, industrial plants, or construction sites where they inspect,

Essay On Becoming A Writer
I remember distinctly the first time I was exposed to how writing, and specifically my own words
on paper, could compel another person to feel emotion. How they understood what I was feeling
and thinking, simply by the words I wrote. I was in eighth grade and my English teacher was giving
me praise for a paper I had written on my parents' divorce. For the first time, writing wasn't about
getting an "A" or following a five paragraph system; we had been given minimal guidelines for the
paper and I'd thrived. As my teacher, Ms. Palmer, had put it I understood how to "present a factual
story while keeping the reader's' interest." She suggested that I submit it to a special essay contest
and I was thrilled. I gained so much that day, more than just...show more content...
Whether it was my frustrations about the never–ending conflicts in society or my personal dilemmas
on being a modern day teenager, I can guarantee I wrote about it. Even at my young age, I started
to rack my brain trying to ascertain how I could be sure to use writing in my career. Should I be a
novelist, a poet, maybe even a screenwriter? All of these different ideas came and went during my
phase of pondering. Once I hit high school though, it all became clear to me; how I could help
others through my writing. It came to me because of what Ms. Palmer had said; I could make the
pain and tribulations of everyday life less difficult, even if just for the small amount of time
while someone was reading what I presented to the world. I determined I would be a journalist. I
aspire for my writing to make an impact on society, and aid people through the adventure of life.
Whether it's an investigative news article, editorial piece, or even a feature about an esteemable
individual, I am eager to learn more about honing in on my abilities for writing. I have utilized the
resources placed around me and learned much along the way. Transferring to a prestigious university
in a thriving, scholastic environment is the next step in my journey and I am more than prepared to
take it. Exercising the expertise I gain from the wonderful experience of attending a

A Career Of A Pilot
A Career in The Clouds Since the beginning of time, flight is something that humans have tried to
master. Now that we have it figured out, it is considered a luxury. If you are a pilot, you will get
to experience this beautiful luxury regularly. As many people are, I have always been fascinated
with the idea of flying. Even when I was young I entertained the idea of becoming a pilot. I
believe this is a job that will challenge me and help me grow as a person. This paper will explore
the job description, requirements, and salary expectation for a pilot. First, a pilot's job description is
very extensive. Firstly, there are many general duties as a pilot. The Occupational Handbook
mentions that even before...show more content...
There are also advantages such as the opportunity to see new places, your entire job will be to
travel. Depending on your specific job as a pilot, the pay is extremely good, which is always a
plus to me. I think the job in general and the work environment sound like they would fit me very
well. I feel as though I would work best and be most comfortable in a job where I work closely
with only a few people. I now know the extent of difficulty this job comes with, but luckily the
most difficult aspect is the schooling and not the job itself. In summary, there are many elements
in the job description of a pilot. Second, it is important to consider the educational and personal
qualifications of being a pilot. To begin, the Occupational Handbook describes what education
requirements you need. To be a commercial pilot you will need a high school diploma or the
equivalent before you can even begin training; in order to fly for an airline, you will need a
bachelor's degree. As for pilot specific training you will need six certificates: a Student Pilot
Certificate, Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot License, Multi–Engine
Rating, and an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. Education received through the military is also
highly valued, but not necessary (OCO). Next, there are a few available places to receive pilot
training in Kansas. Spartan College notes that they have a 33 month program to become an
airline–ready pilot. The Spartan

  • 1. Impact of Technology in the Workplace Essay The Impact of Technology in the Workplace The impact of computer technology in the workplace has been enormous within the past decade, both positive and negative. Distant communication through the use of computers and mobile devices have overhauled the office setting completely. Email, social networking sites and the world of the Internet have opened a whole new avenue of communication. Technology has changed the entire workplace environment, the relationships, and how things get done. Office workers and businesses are not limited to phone calls, meetings or mail to communicate with each other anymore. Electronic email can be used and not interrupt the recipient. It took time for the document to be read and reviewed by several persons before all corrections and additions were made. Then, the final copy was re–typed with corrections. Through the use of computers, grammar, spelling, and punctuation can be corrected and changed within the document instantly as the person types. Mailing documents took time as well. Someone had to make a trip to the post office, purchase postage, etc. With the use of virtual meetings, money is saved by eliminating the cost of travel. Participants can be actively involved without leaving their own office or home. When there are problems or urgency, solutions and reactions can occur quickly. There is acceleration of decision making with the use of technology. Communication can occur anywhere at any time. Job applicants no longer actually visit businesses to complete an application. Resumes and other documents can be uploaded and easily accessible to the Human Resource Manager. Online postings, applications, and screeners provide applicants the luxury of completing this process from their own home. Likewise, businesses are able to obtain a great deal of information and select qualified applicants for further evaluation. • 2. Why I Want To Be A Writer I want to be a writer when I grow up. Being a writer is hard. The success of your job is dependent not only on whether you have done it well but also on whether other people think you have done well. I would like to be a writer. I don't know if I can do it. It's like any other job; you never know until you try. But few other jobs are as dependent on the opinions of others and on something that has no basis in fact or logic. One word out of place can tear a whole work apart, and yet a few black and white words arranged just so can unleash a world of color and feeling. A spark of inspiration can create a new world from nothing, metaphorically speaking. It is the gift of God. He gives some people a story to tell and the ability to tell it. Like any gift from God, it is something to be used to His glory and not taken lightly. To use any gift takes work....show more content... In college you can major in Creative Writing but many authors recommend that you do not. Instead, they advise that you study Literature instead, the great works of authors past and present. If you don't know what is good, how can you write something good yourself? Or you can do this outside of college and simply read the great works of literature on your own, studying what makes these writers great, what writing tricks and techniques make up their style. The purpose is not to copy them; the purpose is to be inspired. To be awriter you must write. This is the most important piece of advice. Write anything, even if it's as flat as the floor. The more you use words, the more they become willing to be used by you. The more you write, the more you have something to write. Writing is both a skill and a gift. Currently, their football team is doing pretty well, as they are seeded in the top 25 of Division I football and are in the hunt to go to the BCS playoffs. In addition to intercollegiate sports, UW also offers intramural sports and club sports. For their intramural sports, they offer everything from basketball to softball to soccer, but one thing that did catch my eye was that they have a 6 feet and under intramural basketball league, which is something I had never seen before. For their club sports, they are student led organizations that compete against other colleges. They club sports that they offer are sports that are in demand by the students, and not all of the common, classic sports are available as club sports. For example, they don't offer basketball as a club sport, nor softball, but they do offer water polo, ice hockey, and kayaking, which must be sports that have a large enough student backing in order to be club sports. Club sports are competitive, as they do compete against other colleges, so I don't think I am good enough to play a club sport, but I would definitely like to get involved in intramural sports when I go to college, since they sounds fun and a good way to socialize. • 4. Job Experience Essay Nearly seven years ago, when I started working for the local DirecTV installation company, it wasn't exactly a dream come true. I had the aptitude for it, having worked previously as a home theatre installer back in Kansas City, but this job was much easier by comparison. What made this job less than desirable were the hot attics, damp crawlspaces where I wasn't always the only thing crawling around and the loose eaves near ideal dish mounting locations that were often home to swarms of hornets. Less than a week into the job I was offered a promotion of sorts. They needed inspectors to verify that things were done correctly at several installation locations each week and they wanted someone who hadn't been around long enough to make...show more content... The best part of this situation for me was the pay. I was making $12.50 per inspection. That's over $1500 per week! Despite the great pay, I had been unemployed for nearly a month before starting this job and because of tool costs to get started hadn't taken home much during my first week as an installer. The first paycheck I received had an error in it. I was told by my Manager at the Paducah Office to call the corporate office and talk to payroll directly and they would handle it. I regularly heard new employees being told, "Call payroll and ask for an advance", not just due to pay errors, but also to cover the startup costs of tools and ladders. This advice would soon lead to disaster. For the first time in several months I was going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my daughter for the weekend. I had received one puny paycheck and one nice one, but had spent everything to get caught up on bills that had accumulated during my unemployment. So, I did what experience and observation had taught me to do, I called payroll and asked for a relatively small advance to cover my weekend trip. Without incident a check showed up at the office the next day and my wife and I were off for a fun weekend with my daughter. It wasn't until late the next week that all hell began to break loose. I was on the road somewhere in Southern Illinois when I received an angry call from the district manager inquiring why I had "bypassed" him and gone Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. Essay about A Career in Graphic Design Most people grow up dreaming about becoming an actor, singer, or a professional athlete. They want to be famous, for people to know their name, and they also probably want to make a large amount of money. While getting into one of those professions is slim to none, there is a career that can offer some of the same exciting opportunities. A graphic designer is an interesting job because it allows creativity and artistry, combines designing with business and marketing, and gives an opportunity to become well–known in the field. Louise Horton once summed up the job description of the graphic designer by referring to him or her as the "Architect of the Printed Page" (Horton). The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has confirmed that this type of work in the graphic design world has been becoming increasingly popular by stating that in 2010, about thirty percent of all graphic designers were self–employed (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). As with all jobs, free–lancing does have its advantages as disadvantages. An advantage is that free–lancers have an opportunity that most other graphic designers do not, and that is to make an incredible amount of money if they create an extraordinary piece of art. They do not have to share their money with anyone if they make a good sale. (Gordon). Another advantage is that there is no one telling them what they have to create, no one is holding them back from their possible success. They are in charge of their own reputation, may it be good or bad (Gordon). A disadvantage is that there can be long stretches of time where business cannot be found, and that can cause some free–lancers to have to work more than one job (Gordon). Free Lance is very risky and most people prefer a job with a guaranteed, steady, income than the insecurity of free–lance (Gordon). Whether working on one's own, or involved with a business, it is very important to have the proper experience before setting out for a job. It may seem like a lot of hard work and time but once you've got your mindset and know your own capabilities writing a resume will be a breeze. The resume helps the employer understand what you have accomplished so far and why you should be hired for the position you applied for. A resume should consist of where you had volunteered or played a sport, what transferable skills you could deliver to the workplace and why you think you should be hired. Careers are constantly changing within the job market which means applicants have to constantly develop new skills to meet the requirements of that job. Transferable skills are essential in anchoring your next career however, you should also consider whether your skills are compatible with the career you have in mind. You have to make sure that you actually want this job, it's suited to your skills and that you will perform well in the given workspace. Always include why you think the you're the right candidate for the job; be confident enough to state your opinion to your employer. Allowing the employer to see how confident your desire is for this position will make them see how well you will work; they'll want a person that can work comfortably in that job. Always mention what you could bring to the workplace; how you could be an asset. Again, mention how your transferable skills can be put to use to benefit the company that you have applied to work for. Showing the employer how much they could benefit by hiring you is what will make you a more desirable choice compared to your competitors, this is your opportunity to show what you're capable of. • 9. Becoming A Writer Essay Becoming a Writer There is a multitude of jobs and careers I want to have, as some of you may know, but I think we're only allowed to talk about one. However, there is one job in particular that I know that I'll do, whether I'm paid for it or not. That job is writing. Not only do you need language skills, but I believe that you will need creativity and an immense amount of patience in order to be a successful writer of any sort. Essay on School jobs Many high school students want to keep up with the high demand of designer clothes, new movies, and the best five–star restaurants, but really, who in high school can afford those things on their own? If parents are not going to supply the cash for the latest and hottest trends, then who is? With that being said, many students are left with no other choice but to dig into their free time so they can dig into their wallets. That is right, going to work and going to school. When I first began working there I was working about thirteen to eighteen hours per week, including weekends. At first it was easy to do so I thought that I could talk with the manager and ask to be scheduled for more hours. After of few weeks of working there I began to work about twenty to twenty–five hours per week. Things started to catch up with me. I went straight from school to work and straight from work to bed. No homework, no study time, and no good grades. According to Sharon Jayson, Irina Voloshin once said," Working for more than 20 hours a week can hamper academic achievement." (par.11). I had completely overloaded myself with work outside of school work. I thought for a brief minute that I wanted the money instead of the grades. I was in route to graduate early and almost knocked it all off track for some extra spending money. I already had everything that I needed but I wanted more and working part–time was such an easy way to get it. Thankfully I saw where I was headed and promptly quit my job. • 13. My Experience As A Reader And Writer As a reader and writer I always faced given assignments with the intent of doing exceptional jobs and take a sense of pride in my work to complete my tasks. As a reader, I will bore myself through out an entire book and realize I didn 't understand a single thing. Although as a writer, I can go on for so long losing myself on a topic because it feels more interactive. Reflecting on my experiences as a reader and writer have been very bold, I never really found a joy or an interest to become the exceptional student who stands out amongst others because, I always felt ok with myself and my results with the way I did things. A Majority of the time I will only read what I have been assigned because reading will not be my preference of task simply because I will lose focus and wonder off into thinking about what my girlfriend might be doing. My useful method that I discovered about myself when reading alone so I can remain focused is looking up summaries of the book like spark notes, before I read so I can understand the text more clearly. It is probably the worst thing to do because it does ruin the suspense or purpose of reading the book anyways, but it helps with remaining concentrated. I feel that I am this way because I am really picky with what I like to read, which in my case may be informative magazines like Men's health that can teach me something useful. I don 't have the best experiences with reading, possibly because teachers never showed us what Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My Dream Job Being A Lawyer I envision my dream job being a lawyer for many reasons. I would like to be a lawyer because I like to argue my point and look for evidence. For example, I get really competitive when I debate with my brothers about politics and logic. It is really fun for me to back up my topics with logic and facts. I like the feeling I get when I already know what I am going to say and I have the facts and logic to prove it. I would also like to be a lawyer because I get to help my clients' cases. Additionally, I love thinking critically and using clues to come to a conclusion. Ever since I was a little kid, I loved thinking about things in a critical and/or different way. I also loved the idea of being a detective that would look for clues. I even read stories and watched shows where the detective would come to a conclusion and back it up with facts. I really loved how the detective would blow everyone away with the evidence he found. I also loved when the detective would think in different ways about the clues and retrace his steps if he came to a false conclusion. I picture myself to be a lawyer because lawyers argue and support their point, help their clients, and think critically. I will become a lawyer by following many procedures. One of which will be to ask questions to role models and other lawyers about how they got to where they are now. For example, I could choose to follow in Phil Beck's footsteps and observe how he does things. It is always nice to have a role model because Get more content on HelpWriting.net

How they understood what I was feeling and thinking, simply by the words I wrote. I was in eighth grade and my English teacher was giving me praise for a paper I had written on my parents' divorce. For the first time, writing wasn't about getting an "A" or following a five paragraph system; we had been given minimal guidelines for the paper and I'd thrived.
