This is one of the first products to emerge from the recently forged alliance between design teams from Microsoft and Nokia. As such, Lumia 900 demonstrates the amazing heights that shared values and design philosophy can reach.Content and speed Everything about Lumia 900 shouts ‘content first’: Instantaneous, responsive, and intuitive.The stunning 4.3” AMOLED ClearBlack display is the centre of attention. Which means that Lumia 900 is totally in keeping with Nokia’s long line of both functional and beautiful phones. The shell is made from a single piece of injection-moulded polycarbonate plastic. Why plastic? Well, Nokia has spent 20 years mastering this material, and we have more experience manufacturing with it than almost anyone else. Here, we’ve made plastic feel premium and perform likewise. By using post-processing techniques normally reserved for metals (machining openings to tight tolerances, and removing flash and part lines) we have created a handsome, convention-defying product. Plastic also has a well known, though occasionally overlooked functional benefit- it enables outstanding antennae performance resulting in fewer dropped calls and lost data connections. Colour The Lumia range has a way with colour, and Lumia 900 continues this bold approach. Another advantage of creating Lumia 900 from plastic is we can inject colour into a sea of serious, monochromatic smartphones. So Lumia 900 comes in a beautiful white,stealthymatte-black and a bright cyan that conveys cool sophistication. More vibrant colours will follow later in the year based on operator demand thus completing the set. In fact, rather than being applied only to the surface, the colour pigment runs completely through the polycarbonate body. This means that if the smartphone gets scratched, the colour stays the same; ensuring that Lumia 900 stays looking like it’s just stepped out of the box for longer.
