points out of 100. Do not calculate your CRS points before getting at least 67 points needed to

your points. You cannot enter into the pool without IELTS and ECA in hand.
Six selection factors
A candidate must score 67 points or higher out of 100 points. The criteria are:

Canada, including previous experience working or studying in Canada or having family in

2. CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS
The Canadian Experience Class is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and
want to become permanent residents. However, to qualify for the CEC, you must :
• Have, within the past three years, minimum one year of NOC Skill Type/Level O,A or B work
experience in Canada full time (30h/week or an equivalent amount part time, at least 15/week)
• Have legally gained your job experience in Canada

CLB 7 for Skill Type/Level O or A
CLB 5 for Skill Type/Level B
You do not need minimum education level for CEC. If you have a degree, diploma or certificate
you can earn extra points. You will have to request an ECA if your diploma is not from Canada.
3. FEDERAL SKILLED TRADES PROGRAM
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent
residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade.
To be eligible, you must

• Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work

4. PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM
Under Canada’s Constitution, the power to select immigrants is shared between the federal
government and the provincial/territorial governments. Canada’s Express Entry application
management system facilitates economic immigration for both levels of government.
PNPs vary significantly in terms of requirements, availability, and application process. They are
linked to the individual needs of the participating province or territory.
A provincial nomination is the single most valuable factor within Express Entry’s Comprehensive
Ranking System (CRS). It results in an Express Entry candidate receiving an additional 600 points
towards their overall score—effectively guaranteeing them an invitation to apply for
permanent residency.
No Job Offer? No Problem.
With more than 70 unique PNP streams across the provinces, we can fit them into three broad
categories: first-come first-served, Expression of Interest, and passive.
Passive
Passive streams allow a province to search the Express Entry pool for candidates who match

Active—First-Come, First-Served

• Open to candidates with no ties to Canada (such as a relative , job offer, or previous Canadian
work or study)

Two popular examples of these streams are:
• Saskatchewan’s International Skilled Worker—Express Entry subcategory
• Category B of Nova Scotia’s Demand: Express Entry Stream
These two programs operate on a first-come, first-served basis. They open periodically to a set
number of applicants, and they usually meet their intake quota within hours. Although a job
offer may not be required, these streams do require specific work experience.
Active—Expression of Interest
Express Entry candidates who want to be considered for “active” streams can submit what’s
called an “Expression of Interest.”

5. FAMILY SPONSORSHIP
Your relatives can live, study and work in Canada if they become permanent residents of
Canada. You can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if :
• you’re at least 18 years old
• you’re a Canadian citizen or person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian
Indian Act or permanent resident of Canada
• you’re able to prove that you’re not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a
disability
• you can provide for the basic needs of any persons you want to sponsor
As a general rule, the sponsor must also be physically residing in Canada in order to sponsor. An
exception is made for Canadian citizens who wish to sponsor a spouse, common-law partner or
children if the sponsor can demonstrate an intention to reside in Canada by the time the
sponsored relative lands in Canada.

Family members eligible for sponsorship are:
• Spouses or common-law partners.
• Parents or grandparents.
• Dependent children (must be under 22 years of age unless substantially dependent for

• Meet medical, security and other conditions

7. TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER PROGRAM
The Temporary Foreign Worker Program ( TFWP ) allows Canadian employers to hire foreign
nationals to fill temporary labour and skill shortages when qualified Canadian citizens or
permanent residents are not available.
The applicant must fulfil basic eligibility requirements including intention to return upon expiry
of the work permit, adequate financial resources to take care of self and family members till,
and including, departure from Canada, good health, a clean criminal record, etc.
If the Canadian job is not exempt from requiring a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA),
then the employer offering the job to the applicant must apply for and obtain a positive LMIA
from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
The employer must issue a valid job offer with detailed information about the position along
with the positive LMIA to the applicant. The applicant must submit the above-mentioned
documents along with the work permit application and requisite fee.
Spouse and dependent children can either accompany or subsequently join the work permit
