OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson pupils
should be able to
1. respond to pictures shown by teacher.
2. give adjectives that describe "man" and
"mountain".
3. construct simple sentences using adjectives.
T.Aids : Pictures, A4 paper, markers, video clip,
speaker.
CCE/EE: Constructivism, Verbal Linguistic,
Analysing
ACTIVITIES :
Set Induction
1. Teacher recite the poem and pupils
arrange the poem in sequence ( group
work).
2. Teacher displays the correct poem and
pupils check their answers.
Presentation
1. Teacher shows words and pictures (man and
mountain). Teacher asks pupils to match.
2. Teacher asks pupils to match adjectives with
“man’" and "mountain”.
Practice
1. Teacher asks and guides pupils to talk about
the topic.
2. Teacher guides pupils to construct simple
sentences using adjectives.
Production
1. Teacher divides pupils into groups and asks
them to write adjectives about “man” and
“mountain”. (I-think)
2. Pupils present their works in front of the class.
Closure The winning group will be given awards.

1. read and understand the poem given
2. read the poem in a groups.
3. Match the pictures to the correct words and
read the correct line of the poem
T.Aids : PPT Slides, LCD, laptop and worksheets,
pictures
CCE/EE:Interpersonal and Intrapersonal.
ACTIVITIES :
Set Induction:
1) Teacher shows some words extracted from the
poem.
2) Teacher explains the meaning of the words by
showing pictures.
3) Teacher introduces the topic of today’s lesson.
Activities :
1) Teacher displays the poem using power point.
2) Teacher reads the poem before getting the
pupils to read along.
3) Teacher asks for a volunteer to read the poem.
4) Pupils will be asked for their understanding of
the poem with some guidance
from teacher.
5) Teacher divides the class into three groups.
6) The pupils read the poem in groups.
7) Teacher shows some picture cards related to
the poem.
8) Teacher asks pupils to match the pictures to the
correct words.
9) The pupils read the correct line of the poem
which they have formed.
10) Teacher distributes worksheets to the pupils.
11) Teacher asks the pupils to complete the task.

ACTIVITIES :
Set Induction:
1. Pupils recite poem with correct intonation
and rhythm.
2. Pupils are shown picture and name the
object in the picture..
3. Pupils list the adjective based on the picture.
4. Pupils construct compound sentences in
group.
5. Pupils write their sentences on the board
and others check the sentences and make
correction.

Activities:
1. Distribute Worksheet 2. –refer pdf
Guliver’s travel
2. Using a paint brush the water colour and
write out the title of the graphic novel
creatively anywhere on the task sheet.
3. Teacher asks the pupils to give a suitable
and creative name to the ship.
4. Use different colours to decorate the
picture of the ship.
5. Discuss with pupils the journey on a ship:
a. What do you see on the ship?
b. Who works on the ship?
c. Would you like to travel on the ship?
Why?
5 Teacher encourage pupils (good students)
to name the main parts of the ship.

ADDITIONAL FOR LITERATURE Subject /Class /Topic Details Reflection Subject English Class YEAR 5 Time (60 minutes) Language Art THEME : World of Story TOPIC : The Man and The Mountain Focus : Listening and speaking LEARNING STANDARD(S) : 1.1.1 able to speak with correct pronunciation, stress and intonation 1.1.3 able to listen to and respond to a given stimulus by using appropriate words phrases and expressions with guidance OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to 1. respond to pictures shown by teacher. 2. give adjectives that describe "man" and "mountain". 3. construct simple sentences using adjectives. T.Aids : Pictures, A4 paper, markers, video clip, speaker. CCE/EE: Constructivism, Verbal Linguistic, Analysing ACTIVITIES : Set Induction 1. Teacher recite the poem and pupils arrange the poem in sequence ( group work). 2. Teacher displays the correct poem and pupils check their answers. Presentation 1. Teacher shows words and pictures (man and mountain). Teacher asks pupils to match. 2. Teacher asks pupils to match adjectives with “man’" and "mountain”. Practice 1. Teacher asks and guides pupils to talk about the topic. 2. Teacher guides pupils to construct simple sentences using adjectives. Production 1. Teacher divides pupils into groups and asks them to write adjectives about “man” and “mountain”. (I-think) 2. Pupils present their works in front of the class. Match the pictures to the correct words and read the correct line of the poem T.Aids : PPT Slides, LCD, laptop and worksheets, pictures CCE/EE:Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. ACTIVITIES : Set Induction: 1) Teacher shows some words extracted from the poem. 2) Teacher explains the meaning of the words by showing pictures. 3) Teacher introduces the topic of today’s lesson. Activities : 1) Teacher displays the poem using power point. 2) Teacher reads the poem before getting the pupils to read along. 3) Teacher asks for a volunteer to read the poem. 4) Pupils will be asked for their understanding of the poem with some guidance from teacher. 5) Teacher divides the class into three groups. 6) The pupils read the poem in groups. 7) Teacher shows some picture cards related to the poem. 8) Teacher asks pupils to match the pictures to the correct words. 9) The pupils read the correct line of the poem which they have formed. 10) Teacher distributes worksheets to the pupils. 11) Teacher asks the pupils to complete the task.
