feisty one that we have heard many times.
▪ The freedom movement is synonymous with
the freedom fighters who were revolutionary in
their approaches towards Independence
3. #We all knew how Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat
singh, Rani Laxmibai, Bal Gangadhar tilak and
many more paved the way of Independence,
but there are many Unsung leaders we need
to know about. Let us dig into the past to have
a look at the unsung leaders and lesser known
freedom fighters.
4. ❖Alluri Seetharamaraju led ill-fated “Rampa Rebellion” of 1922-24, during which a band
tribal leaders and other sympathizers fought against the British.
❖ Born into a prosporous family in Andhra pradesh. He gave up everything for freedom
struggle and led an armed rebellion against British forces.

5. Pingali Venkayya:
❖He was a devout follower of Mahatma Gandhi and was known as
Diamond Venkayya for his knowledge on Diamond mining.
❖He was an authority in geology, agriculture and also an educationalist.
❖His major contribution to the movement was the design of the national
flag of India, which was first modified and adopted as the national flag of
India.
6. Potti sriramulu:
❖He was a devout
follower of Mahatma
Gandhi.
❖He spent most of
his life doing
humanitarian work
and working for dalit
community.
7. Kanaiyalal maneklal Munshi :
❖An active participant in India’s freedom movement, he
was a legendary figure during the Quit India Movement and
was arrested several times, but that didn’t stop him for
fighting back.
8. SUCHETA KRIPLANI :
❖The first woman
Chief Minister of
Indian state. She
was the founder of
All India Mahila
Congress. She was a
follower of
Gandhian principles
and worked with
him during the
partition riots.
9. VEER VINAYAK DAMODAR SAVARKAR :
❖A pro-independence activist, he was against caste
system. He was responsible for arousing nationalistic
feeling among common people through his writings.
