My Self Assessment
A self–assessment requires that a person take a look at him or herself objectively. Doing this can
be extremely hard for a person because they have to be honest with themselves about who they
are and the areas where they are lacking. Personally, I like taking assessments that are going to
help me better myself and so forth. But I really did not like this assessment because of how it is set
up. I prefer assessments where you are scored based on what you put and then there is a synopsis
that gives some explanation or detail about what it all means. After taking the assessment, I learned
that my five greatest areas of weakness are: Seeking support from others, Retaining written
information, Time–management skills, Management and leadership of people and Creative–problem
solving (Bethel University, 2014). When taking a closer look at my areas of weakness, I was able
to see that my many of my weaknesses are similar because they have to do with the confidence that
I lack. For example, take seeking support from others or management and leadership of people. I
have issues with...show more content...
The greatest way in which I would be able to improve my writing skills would be to practice.
"Good writing is an acquired art, and it takes practice" (Bethel University, 2014, p. 4). For many,
writing comes very easily. But then there are those like me who have to work very hard at
becoming good at writing. And when I say that I would practice, I mean that I would set aside
time the time to rewrite things that I have previously written so that I could correct and perfect the
things that I failed to do correctly the first time. When it came time to do an actually assignment I
would initially do a rough draft so that I could work out the kinks prior to submitting the
assignment. Some other ways of improving my writing would be to always grammar check and
spell check what I have written and to read out loud what it is that I have

My Self Identity
Many skills that I have learned are being to identify and understand my interpersonal skills and
facilitating skills. Through the course I have been able to undergo a shift in my identity as I
thought I knew who I was. Yet I come to class asking the same question, who I am, constantly. I
think this also has helped me identify what skills are those that I have learned and those that I have
made even stronger. Anotherskill that I have gained to appreciate more is storytelling and the
important role and value that it holds. I am able to see that storytelling can be vital to learning about
who we are as well as find out out about others in a matter of time. I think that I am getting used to
the idea that this in congruence with music and other...show more content...
I believe that I am able to be more comfortable with who I am and who I am becoming. I know for
a fact that I am becoming more confident in who I am as I am still on my own self identity path
of discovery. I also believe that from our learnings in class, such as the drum circle, I have to put
myself in the uncomfortable position first in order to be comfortable and that will help set the
stage for my future clients. This we enable the counseling sessions to flow better and address that I
will know the emotions and feelings of how my client will feel. I also think that learning and with
the emphasis by being a culturally competent counselor, I have to strive to be that person wearing
multiple hats in being culturally diverse in my learning. I believe that with my strength of my mind,
body and spirit will help me conduct better sessions as I know what cultural implications can help
and impact both I as the counselor and

Narrative Essay Kindergarten
All I wanted when I was little was to have beautiful long hair. All of my dolls had hair down to
their waist , and I longed to have hair like them. Unfortunately for me, my hair did not grow very
fast... at all. I was practically bald until I was three; and my hair was only about to my chin when
I was ready to start kindergarten. So there I was, on my first day at Foreign Language Academy. I
was in SeГ±ora Vargas's Kindergarten class holding on to my mom, dreading the moment she
would have to leave. I had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy
blue dress and my hellokitty backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve
racking. Most of the parents were mingling and asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried
to find their place. Some kids had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me,
were more shy, still clinging to their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest
hair in the entire class of kindergartners. She looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink
cast on her arm, and the hair I had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about triple
the length, and with more curl in it. Jealousy immediately swept over me. It seemed like this girl
had everything I had ever wished for in my entire life. I also thought casts were really cool at that
time because I did not really understand that broken bones hurt, or that you couldn't really move

Characteristics Of Myself Essay
I was born fourteen years ago and I have acquired many qualities in those fourteen years. One is I
like to see myself as a very relatable person who many people can talk to. Many of my friends tell
me that I am very relatable and a very honest person who says their honest opinion, which I can
only agree with. Another word I hear a lot from my friends is that I am a chill, also known as
relaxed or easy going. Listening to my friends is another good quality I believe I have. I can
always sense when something isn't right. I believe I am also fairly good at judging people's
character, so I think in some way that saves me from hanging out with bad people and also
knowing which ones are the good ones. Adapting is another thing I am good at because of the
many times I have moved. That also helps me get good at making friends all kinds of places, even
in different countries. I get told a lot that I have a lot of friends and honestly I'm not totally sure
how I have become friends with so many people. But I am not complaining. Most of my friends
also say I am trustworthy and cool. Another thing I get told a lot is that I am hilarious. I mean I
can just say the simplest things and my friends will laugh. All of these qualities are qualities that I
like about myself but I also feel that many of my friends have the same traits. I like to hangout
around people who remind me of myself. Most of my friends are funny and kind. They are all
trustworthy and of course very cool. My friends are

My Personal Feelings of Self Worth Essay
People's self–esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person's
self–esteem begins to take shape at an early age, with their parents being a major influence. Kind,
positive, knowledgeable and caring parents help children create a positive self–image. Parents who
do not feel good about themselves or others, sometimes take it out on their childern by belittling
them or discouraging them. This leads the child down a path of self–doubt and eventually given the
right circumstances a lower self–esteem.
My parents where very overprotective which sounds good on the surface, but this caused me to
feel unequal to my peers since my parents would not let me play sports or even go on a field trip one
time because...show more content...
If that was not enough to deal with, I also have red hair and freckles so I was constantly teased
about my appearance. All this contributed to my own lack of self–confidence and a feeling that I
was not as good as my peers.
These are some experiences that have shaped my self–esteem. I do not portend to make excuses for
myself; I only want to illustrate that you can let these experiences either motivate you or
de–motivate you, the choice is always yours. I let these life experiences de–motivate until I came to
the realization that you should not let others determine your fate or what you can achieve.
Years ago I read a passage in a book by: "Louise L. Hay" she said; every morning you can get up and
look in the mirror and decide what kind of day you are going to have." The beauty of it is, you
can get up the following morning and decide all over again. This is a powerful statement, letting
us know we have the power to control our feelings and shape our outlook on life. If you are telling
yourself positive things, it will help you build a positive self–esteem.
Example:
Not long ago a golfer on the PGA Tour, was having trouble with his putting, he was losing
confidence, it was starting to effect his whole game and his self–esteem since even the TV
Announcers, where talking about his putting troubles. He choose to start telling himself that he was

Reflective Essay About Myself
Walking into my fifth grade classroom for the millionth time, I searched around the room to see
if there was anyone like me. A girl with chocolate skin. For as long as I can remember, I was the
only one in my grade, ever since I started school. But this did not mean I did not have friends.
Caterina and I were best friends that year. She was from Venezuela, had white olive skin with
long blonde hair, and light eyes. One school day, when we were walking to P.E., she said to me "I
like your hair because it stays in place." A little taken back, I was not sure if this a compliment or
not, but I said thank you anyway. Her comment had stayed with me for the rest of the day. I began
to wonder why my hair grew the way it did and if I could change it. This was, thus the beginning
of my insecurities. Going to school every few months with a different hairstyle would raise a few
questions for my classmates. Different styles, such as, box braids and marley twists, would
change my attitude because I no longer looked the way I felt most of the time, ugly. But because
I knew my look was only temporary, I did my best not to draw attention to myself. As I advanced
grades, I always hoped there would be someone like me. Not necessarily student. After fifth grade, I
figured I might as well conquer eighth grade alone. It would at least be nice to have a teacher to
talk to about when I get angry about each day instead of keeping everything bottled up. A person "...

The Importance of Self Essay
The Importance of Self
For many centuries people have been trying to find answers to questions concerning the reason for
their existance and the meaning of self. Questions such as: 'What is the meaning of I? Where does
the idea of self come from?' pose many arguments in our society. Many philospophers tried to find
solutions to these questions yet it seems that those questions are much more complex than we
perceive them and are not fully explainable. One of the most famous philosophers, Descartes, spend
much time analyzing human existance and the idea of self. Even though his solutions are
questionable to certain extend, he provides us with helpful knoweledge on how to approach this
complex matter of self. The matter of...show more content...
We are able to think critically and distinguish ideas from each other. Yet these ideas are not always
stable and well–understood. As Descartes proposes the self is filled with images that might appear
true yet in reality are nothing but a false images created by our senses. The self has the ability to
understand the world outside and decide for itself which images are true and which are false.
Before making a decision the self or I uses reason to establish the possible outcome and see if it will
benefit the self. We do everything to satisfy the self. Our mind is designed especially to fulfill the
wishes, sometimes unnecessary, to make ourselves feel better. Intellingece we posses, helps us
find a right place for the self in this world. The decisions we make based on our desires to please
the self are not always beneficial and ethical. Many times we place certain unimportant values
above other more helpful and correct ones in order to fulfill temporary desires. The self is
satisfied for a short period of time until the conscience takes over and analyzes the situation again.
Every choice taken has a consequences on ourselves; either a good or bad. Our understanding of
world through our senses could be very deceiving. Our senses deceive our self and impose on us
certain values and beliefs which otherwise would not come up. The urges to do

I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss
who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide some basic background information on

grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's

people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group
projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work
together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them.
Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic
circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme
gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a
family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities.
One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a
blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other

helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Another Opportunity I am grateful for is
the skill of playing the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents

Development of Self Essay
Development of Self
The development of self starts at a very young age. When a preschooler is asked how are they
different from other children, they usually look at their self concept. Self concept is their identity, of
their set of beliefs about what they are like as individuals. Most preschoolers give inaccurate
statements about their self concept. They usually overestimate their skills and knowledge.
Preschool–age children also begin to develop a view of self that reflects their particular culture
considers the self. An example of this would be to look at the different views as self between the
Western culture and the Asian culture. Western cultures believe that an individual should seek
attention of others by standing out...show more content...
Children's views of self become more differentiated. As they get older, children discover that they
may be good at some things and not so good at others. Children's self– concepts become divided into
personal and academic spheres. During middle childhood children begin social comparison. Social
comparison is the desire to evaluate one's own behavior, abilities, expertise, and opinions by
comparing them to those of others. During middle childhood children deal with the crisis industry
versus inferiority stage. The stage is characterized by a focus on efforts to attain competence in
meeting the challenges presented by parents, peers, school, and other complexities of the modern
world. This is a time of their life where the child develops a self esteem. Self–esteem in an
individual's overall and specific positive and negative self–evaluation. Self concept reflects beliefs
and cognitions about the self, self–esteem is more emotionally oriented. The self–esteem of most
children tends to increase during middle childhood with a brief decline around age of 12. Some
evidence shows that members of minority groups have lower self–esteem then those of the majority
group. Children build a sense of self efficacy during their elementary years. Self efficacy refers to
learned expectations that one is capable of carrying out a behavior or producing a desired outcome
in a particular situation.

The results of my self–assessments were the following close–minded, conscientious, introverted,
disagreeable, nervous/high strung. My top values include achievement, conformity, and
self–direction. After reading in to the categories I do for the most part, with a few exceptions, agree
with the results. Conscientious, introverted, and nervous/high strung are the traits I most definitely
see in myself. These three things generally are true to me, regardless of the situation. I tend to be
very goal–oriented, thorough, and organized in all aspects of my life, explaining the conscientious
trait. As for the introverted trait, I am generally reserved and social situations do require more energy

Achievement is extremely important to me, I believe in working hard toward something important
and reaching your goal. Conformity is also significant to me, especially in trying to achieve one's
goals. I am a rule follower; getting things done the right way is something I value. Self–direction,
while seemingly conflicts with conformity, is important in regards to achievement. To me
achievement is having success at your own accord, making self– direction a vital element. I currently
work at the San Marcos Senior Center as front desk staff. My position has little direction and can
be very hectic. With the organization, there is also opportunity to create and help with special or
new projects. Knowing that I will generally always be organized and able to think clearly makes
me confident that I will be able to keep track of my tasks during chaotic days. Also, valuing
self–direction pushes me to pursue special projects and complete my task without interference
from my supervisor. In the future I think knowing these traits will help me decide what will be a
good fit for me. A career that is not too chaotic but allows me to create my own direction would
most likely be a good fit for me. I would also consider the amount of team work necessary, as well as
the work habits of other

School, to me and among many peers of my age, is not a distant term. I have spent one–third of my

regardless the degree of significance, things that happened all contributed to shape the person that I

Everything started anew, I was all by myself. While I was busy getting used to the school and
making new friends, I also discovered a new passion, soccer. Through soccer I was able to meet
some of my most loyal friends. We would often get together and play soccer against other classes.
The school required a test for admission, so the competition was getting fierce. The teachers
focused a lot on our academics and tried to squeeze as much time as they can from us to study. As
the result, we were not allowed to play soccer during our free time because it hinders us from
studying. Maybe it is human tendency to break laws, but the gang of us didn’t want to
conform to that rule so sneaking a soccer ball to school and keep it away from the teachers
became an everyday challenge. It was amazing the kind of ideas we came up with for this task.
Soccer added spices into my otherwise boring school life, and it served as a channel between me
and my fellow classmates. Through soccer we found a common ground, that we were able to know
each other more and support each other no matter what happens. It gave us a sense of unity, and it
was very important to me. Even now I cherish the pact I had with them back then – the support that
helped me to stay on the right track during my rebel teenage years. My homeroom teacher at the
time had the most impact on me than any other mentors I had. People say

The importance of knowing yourself as a learner is to know your strengths and areas you can

What I Learned About Myself Essay
This class has taught me a lot about myself in such a brief period of time. I never thought I could
dig as deep as I did, and have a better understanding of who I am as a person just by writing a single
essay. I was not expecting the amount of self–awareness that I gained through this class. I really
enjoyed the hermit crab essays, because they really guided me to find my true feelings. It was hard
for me to get started writing at first and then once I got started, it was almost impossible to stop. I
love the feeling that I am in control of what I am writing and there are no restrictions and that I
can be vulnerable in my writing. This class really helped me show the vulnerable side of who I
am. I was sometimes moved to tears while I was writing because, I realized things about myself
that I never thought to be true before. I would get so excited that I would read it to my boyfriend,
family and friends. This class was in no way easy, but it was definitely worth it for many reasons.
I learned how to become a better writer, I learned about myself as a person, and I constructed
pieces of writing that I didn't know I was capable of. Some assignments became easier as time
went on because I became a stronger writer. However, I think the hardest one for me was having to

feelings or anything of that matter. I also didn't enjoy having to respond to different pieces of

What is intimacy? This may be just one question, but it comes with a multitude of different
answers. When I looked it up on Google, this is what I found: "close familiarity or friendship;
closeness" and "a private cozy atmosphere" and also "an intimate act, especially sexual intercourse."
Intimacy is looked at in many different viewpoints. If you think of intimacy with a friend, you may
think of the closeness aspect, while intimacy with a partner could be defined as physical, especially
sexual.

listening to them. Moreover, I like it when people give me feedback over what I have done as
opposed to asking for opinions over ideas. I work well in teams since I am a free spirit who
indulges with anyone. Compared to other people from my country, Saudi Arabia, my English
language skills are very good and are quite an asset when it comes to the research writing. Since
childhood, creation was an aspect of awe to me, the ability to picture ways of improvement and
sustenance were always an intriguing factor to me. I lead through experience and actual practice. I
am not actually a follower but I prefer a very interactive team that is full of practical ideas since I
usually take initiative to follow through. I am good at organizing things since people's reaction
always matter to me and I always want to impress them. I work towards that through the engagement
of personal trials and errors; thus, I get a

My Personal Self Assessment
The self–assessment I chose to do was on online team roles preferences self assessment. They had
one in the book, Chapter 8 on pages 259–260. I prefer to do the online assessment. This one came
from a website called Pscyh Test. The url is http://testyourself.psychtests.com /testid/3113. It was 43
questions regarding team situations, as well as, many team scenarios. It took about 20 minutes to
finish and below are the my strengths from my self–assessment. The Strengths You have good
interpersonal skills You are able to effectively resolve conflict with teammates You are able to work

I also felt that I could do any type of role needed for the team. I am not restricted on just doing one
role or task, but many roles and tasks. I feel I am a great team member because I try to do my best
to inspire myself and motivate others. I try to handle conflicts within a team. I try to be open
minded regarding opinions and suggestions. I try to get everyone involved including the quite ones
without intimidation. I feel I am also very good at organization, which I feel is very need when
working in teams. It didn't show me any limitations or things I needed to work on. However, after
taking the seld–assessment, I feel everyone has strengths and liminations. One limitation I can think
of is that I am very detailed and organized and it can be frusrating when others are not the same
way. Being on a team, deadlines must be met. Some I find let others pull the weight or could care
less. I need to learn to manage my frustration and try my best to teach them why this is important and
why they need to

Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as
intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly
right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also
making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend
most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors
and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people
has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have
now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and...show more content...
I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic
experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my
grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter
how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I
have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend
most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very
open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different
backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very
young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have
learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting
differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the
discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a
group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is
most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most
important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe

Essay About Myself as a Writer
I don't consider myself a very good writer. I write when I am made to or when I have something
that I need to say that I can't just tell someone. I keep a diary. Usually my diary is just a record of
what I have done that day. It's not so much about my feelings. I don't really like talking about my
feelings, usually because most of the time I am confused about what exactly I am feeling. I tend to
keep the feelings that I do have to myself, to protect myself from getting hurt.
I didn't have that many close friends in high school. I always was just kind of there. I was no one
important. Everyone seems to have his or her place in this world of high school and it seemed that
my place was on the outside that I...show more content...
When I started my high school, I found my current best friend, Marie. We are still friends to this day;
she just left for college at George Mason. So once again I'm not with my best friend.
I'm not trying to make my life all depressing because it hasn't been all bad. And I realize that
people have had things a lot worse happen to them, in their lives, and I should be thankful for
what I have. But no matter what I have I just never seem truly happy. I always have this front up,
and it seems like everything is going great, but deep inside, I'm falling apart. This comes out in
my writing, and I think that writing is a good release from all of this. I always try to do my best
when it comes to my class work and my writing, but I know that my writing isn't the best by any
means. I always find it important to the best job that I can do, on school work and also in life.
I think that a lot of what got me through writing papers in middle and high school was my mom.
She was so great about reading over and correcting my papers. She stayed up many nights doing
that for me. Not because she had to, but because she wanted to help me. There were so many other
things she could have been doing, but instead she was helping me, and that means a lot to me. I'm
kind of nervous about doing this all on my own. I'm excited thought o see what I can do on my
own. I am so excited about starting new here, with a clean slate. I think that

The Self Essay
The Self Every situation that an individual is exposed to throughout life, helps mold our "self." As
humans we have the ability to see ourselves from the outside, and all through life we try to see what
others see and our "self" revolves around the generalized other. We observe how others perceive us
and we make conclusions depending on our observations. How we act around others depends on the
image we feel they have towards us.
Charles Horton Cooley, a symbolic interactionist, concluded that our sense of "self" develops from
interactions with others. Cooley described this process as the...show more content...
On the other hand if you see yourself as an individual who can communicate without a problem and
you see that you can keep others interested in a given conversations, your reaction is more positive.
Through this looking– glass self we develop a "self" concept. Depending on the observations we
make concerning the reactions of others we develop feelings and ideas about ourselves. The
reflection we see in the mirror is either negative or positive depending on the feedback we get back
from those around us. Misjudgments of the reactions of others become part of our "self" concept
also the misinterpretations of how others think of us. Self concepts begins in childhood but it
continues to develop throughout life. As we observe how other people react to us, we modify our
"self."
The "self" is never a finished project, and it continues to change as our life takes different turns. Our
"self" reacts to the environment that we are in. As the "self" expands we put together the different
reactions making us a unique individual. Every individual has a different way of thinking and
therefore they make their own choices about certain situations. Going through different life changes,
means the "self" is expected to change to accommodate the life stage we find our selves in. The
way we perceived things when

Essay My Self

  • 1. My Self Assessment A self–assessment requires that a person take a look at him or herself objectively. Doing this can be extremely hard for a person because they have to be honest with themselves about who they are and the areas where they are lacking. Personally, I like taking assessments that are going to help me better myself and so forth. But I really did not like this assessment because of how it is set up. I prefer assessments where you are scored based on what you put and then there is a synopsis that gives some explanation or detail about what it all means. After taking the assessment, I learned that my five greatest areas of weakness are: Seeking support from others, Retaining written information, Time–management skills, Management and leadership of people and Creative–problem solving (Bethel University, 2014). When taking a closer look at my areas of weakness, I was able to see that my many of my weaknesses are similar because they have to do with the confidence that I lack. For example, take seeking support from others or management and leadership of people. I have issues with...show more content... The greatest way in which I would be able to improve my writing skills would be to practice. "Good writing is an acquired art, and it takes practice" (Bethel University, 2014, p. 4). For many, writing comes very easily. But then there are those like me who have to work very hard at becoming good at writing. And when I say that I would practice, I mean that I would set aside time the time to rewrite things that I have previously written so that I could correct and perfect the things that I failed to do correctly the first time. When it came time to do an actually assignment I would initially do a rough draft so that I could work out the kinks prior to submitting the assignment. Some other ways of improving my writing would be to always grammar check and spell check what I have written and to read out loud what it is that I have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Self Identity Many skills that I have learned are being to identify and understand my interpersonal skills and facilitating skills. Through the course I have been able to undergo a shift in my identity as I thought I knew who I was. Yet I come to class asking the same question, who I am, constantly. I think this also has helped me identify what skills are those that I have learned and those that I have made even stronger. Anotherskill that I have gained to appreciate more is storytelling and the important role and value that it holds. I am able to see that storytelling can be vital to learning about who we are as well as find out out about others in a matter of time. I think that I am getting used to the idea that this in congruence with music and other...show more content... I believe that I am able to be more comfortable with who I am and who I am becoming. I know for a fact that I am becoming more confident in who I am as I am still on my own self identity path of discovery. I also believe that from our learnings in class, such as the drum circle, I have to put myself in the uncomfortable position first in order to be comfortable and that will help set the stage for my future clients. This we enable the counseling sessions to flow better and address that I will know the emotions and feelings of how my client will feel. I also think that learning and with the emphasis by being a culturally competent counselor, I have to strive to be that person wearing multiple hats in being culturally diverse in my learning. I believe that with my strength of my mind, body and spirit will help me conduct better sessions as I know what cultural implications can help and impact both I as the counselor and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Narrative Essay Kindergarten All I wanted when I was little was to have beautiful long hair. All of my dolls had hair down to their waist , and I longed to have hair like them. Unfortunately for me, my hair did not grow very fast... at all. I was practically bald until I was three; and my hair was only about to my chin when I was ready to start kindergarten. So there I was, on my first day at Foreign Language Academy. I was in SeГ±ora Vargas's Kindergarten class holding on to my mom, dreading the moment she would have to leave. I had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy blue dress and my hellokitty backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve racking. Most of the parents were mingling and asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried to find their place. Some kids had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me, were more shy, still clinging to their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest hair in the entire class of kindergartners. She looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink cast on her arm, and the hair I had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about triple the length, and with more curl in it. Jealousy immediately swept over me. It seemed like this girl had everything I had ever wished for in my entire life. I also thought casts were really cool at that time because I did not really understand that broken bones hurt, or that you couldn't really move Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Characteristics Of Myself Essay I was born fourteen years ago and I have acquired many qualities in those fourteen years. One is I like to see myself as a very relatable person who many people can talk to. Many of my friends tell me that I am very relatable and a very honest person who says their honest opinion, which I can only agree with. Another word I hear a lot from my friends is that I am a chill, also known as relaxed or easy going. Listening to my friends is another good quality I believe I have. I can always sense when something isn't right. I believe I am also fairly good at judging people's character, so I think in some way that saves me from hanging out with bad people and also knowing which ones are the good ones. Adapting is another thing I am good at because of the many times I have moved. That also helps me get good at making friends all kinds of places, even in different countries. I get told a lot that I have a lot of friends and honestly I'm not totally sure how I have become friends with so many people. But I am not complaining. Most of my friends also say I am trustworthy and cool. Another thing I get told a lot is that I am hilarious. I mean I can just say the simplest things and my friends will laugh. All of these qualities are qualities that I like about myself but I also feel that many of my friends have the same traits. I like to hangout around people who remind me of myself. Most of my friends are funny and kind. They are all trustworthy and of course very cool. My friends are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Personal Feelings of Self Worth Essay People's self–esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person's self–esteem begins to take shape at an early age, with their parents being a major influence. Kind, positive, knowledgeable and caring parents help children create a positive self–image. Parents who do not feel good about themselves or others, sometimes take it out on their childern by belittling them or discouraging them. This leads the child down a path of self–doubt and eventually given the right circumstances a lower self–esteem. My parents where very overprotective which sounds good on the surface, but this caused me to feel unequal to my peers since my parents would not let me play sports or even go on a field trip one time because...show more content... If that was not enough to deal with, I also have red hair and freckles so I was constantly teased about my appearance. All this contributed to my own lack of self–confidence and a feeling that I was not as good as my peers. These are some experiences that have shaped my self–esteem. I do not portend to make excuses for myself; I only want to illustrate that you can let these experiences either motivate you or de–motivate you, the choice is always yours. I let these life experiences de–motivate until I came to the realization that you should not let others determine your fate or what you can achieve. Years ago I read a passage in a book by: "Louise L. Hay" she said; every morning you can get up and look in the mirror and decide what kind of day you are going to have." The beauty of it is, you can get up the following morning and decide all over again. This is a powerful statement, letting us know we have the power to control our feelings and shape our outlook on life. If you are telling yourself positive things, it will help you build a positive self–esteem. Example: Not long ago a golfer on the PGA Tour, was having trouble with his putting, he was losing confidence, it was starting to effect his whole game and his self–esteem since even the TV Announcers, where talking about his putting troubles. He choose to start telling himself that he was a great putter of the golf ball and in a short Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Reflective Essay About Myself Walking into my fifth grade classroom for the millionth time, I searched around the room to see if there was anyone like me. A girl with chocolate skin. For as long as I can remember, I was the only one in my grade, ever since I started school. But this did not mean I did not have friends. Caterina and I were best friends that year. She was from Venezuela, had white olive skin with long blonde hair, and light eyes. One school day, when we were walking to P.E., she said to me "I like your hair because it stays in place." A little taken back, I was not sure if this a compliment or not, but I said thank you anyway. Her comment had stayed with me for the rest of the day. I began to wonder why my hair grew the way it did and if I could change it. This was, thus the beginning of my insecurities. Going to school every few months with a different hairstyle would raise a few questions for my classmates. Different styles, such as, box braids and marley twists, would change my attitude because I no longer looked the way I felt most of the time, ugly. But because I knew my look was only temporary, I did my best not to draw attention to myself. As I advanced grades, I always hoped there would be someone like me. Not necessarily student. After fifth grade, I figured I might as well conquer eighth grade alone. It would at least be nice to have a teacher to talk to about when I get angry about each day instead of keeping everything bottled up. A person "... to vent [my] frustrations, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The Importance of Self Essay The Importance of Self For many centuries people have been trying to find answers to questions concerning the reason for their existance and the meaning of self. Questions such as: 'What is the meaning of I? Where does the idea of self come from?' pose many arguments in our society. Many philospophers tried to find solutions to these questions yet it seems that those questions are much more complex than we perceive them and are not fully explainable. One of the most famous philosophers, Descartes, spend much time analyzing human existance and the idea of self. Even though his solutions are questionable to certain extend, he provides us with helpful knoweledge on how to approach this complex matter of self. The matter of...show more content... We are able to think critically and distinguish ideas from each other. Yet these ideas are not always stable and well–understood. As Descartes proposes the self is filled with images that might appear true yet in reality are nothing but a false images created by our senses. The self has the ability to understand the world outside and decide for itself which images are true and which are false. Before making a decision the self or I uses reason to establish the possible outcome and see if it will benefit the self. We do everything to satisfy the self. Our mind is designed especially to fulfill the wishes, sometimes unnecessary, to make ourselves feel better. Intellingece we posses, helps us find a right place for the self in this world. The decisions we make based on our desires to please the self are not always beneficial and ethical. Many times we place certain unimportant values above other more helpful and correct ones in order to fulfill temporary desires. The self is satisfied for a short period of time until the conscience takes over and analyzes the situation again. Every choice taken has a consequences on ourselves; either a good or bad. Our understanding of world through our senses could be very deceiving. Our senses deceive our self and impose on us certain values and beliefs which otherwise would not come up. • 8. Descriptive Essay About Myself I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide some basic background information on myself and talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better understanding of why I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any differently I would be a different person than I am today. I have always grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them. Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. Through soccer I was able to meet some of my most loyal friends. We would often get together and play soccer against other classes. The school required a test for admission, so the competition was getting fierce. The teachers focused a lot on our academics and tried to squeeze as much time as they can from us to study. As the result, we were not allowed to play soccer during our free time because it hinders us from studying. Maybe it is human tendency to break laws, but the gang of us didn’t want to conform to that rule so sneaking a soccer ball to school and keep it away from the teachers became an everyday challenge. It was amazing the kind of ideas we came up with for this task. Soccer added spices into my otherwise boring school life, and it served as a channel between me and my fellow classmates. Through soccer we found a common ground, that we were able to know each other more and support each other no matter what happens. It gave us a sense of unity, and it was very important to me.
