2. The trailer opens with Haygate council estate on a normal day. After this we
see various newspapers stating that the estate was wiped out due to a
deadly virus. One of which states there had allegedly been sightings of
mysterious activity and what looked like creatures, spotted, despite the
estate being abandoned and of limits. After this the down trodden area is
shown!
Then enter two teenagers (Sasha and Carter). We see the two walking on a
causal day out towards the estate. As they come across it they wonder what
it would be like to go in. Curious and after much contemplation, the two
decide to enter. After a while of exploring Sasha feels she is being watched
and uneasy and before she realises, Carter disappears! After a frantic search
she thinks she has spotted him, but has she really? As she walks closer to
him she does not see Carter but what appears to be a zombie! All of a
sudden he sprints after her, clearly not in his normal state of mind…
The trailer ends with Sasha trying to escape. But can she …?

5. Why and how I developed my story
I felt that for a one minute trailer my developed story line would be more interesting as it could
be told faster whilst having a range exciting elements in it. For example, in my first draft I was
going to show a range of newspapers and headlines. I felt that it would be more effective to
show one main headline that the audience could read quickly and understand. I also felt the
second draft of my synopsis built up more suspense as it went on. For example I felt it built
more suspense and mystery by Sasha finding Carter on the floor.
Setting
When viewing the location before filming commenced, I felt more could be made of the
surroundings, so changed the story slightly.
Audience feedback
I “pitched” my story to a group of young people. They expressed what they liked about the story
and what they thought could improve it. I took note of the feedback and used it to redraft my
final story.
Characters
My group decided to change Carters character to a girl as prior to filming our male actor proved
unreliable. When practising we found that the two female actors had more of connection.
Having two females could also symbolise contrasting personalities of females. One which
conforms to the conventional female role in a movie and the other, taking a more dominant role
that may not be seen as conventional. The female audience could relate to these differing
characters and it also works in favour of creating the “male gaze”.
