I hope this presentation will help you to know about the cutting department of garments section. Though, there will be some up and downs for process optimization otherwise all good. I hope this will help you guys.

5. Fabric Receive
Fabric received from Textile Fabric Store in ATN Warehouse.
Capacity of 40 Tons.
Fabric relaxation
Fabric width measurement
Shade checking
GSM measuring
Activities:
6. Relaxation
Moisture is removed from the fabric and it is
not in actual condition when received.
if we keep the fabric in normal temperature
and pressure for a certain time, the fabric
absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and
regains its original nature.
This process is called fabric relaxation.
Another cause of fabric relaxation is to
maintain the dimensional stability of
produced garments.
7. Cut Order Plan
Merchandiser sends a cutting ratio for every style of garment to do
this job smoothly
Size-wise cutting Plan as per Time of
Delivery (TOD)
Width & Shade-wise fabric cut plan
Ratio Send to CAD for Marker

Activities:
8. Marker Making
To complete cutting process in easy way, making marker is
essential for each style garments.
Marker width
Marker length
Grain line
Position of
pattern pieces
Cutting table
Production plan
Activities:
9. Marker Checking
In location that uses the CAD system, the
marker information needs to be cross-
checked by an operator other than one who
complied the marker, before the marker is
printed.
This is to ensure that no operator error has
occurred.
The marker can then be re-inspected by the
Quality Control Department after it has been
placed on the lay of fabric prior to cutting.
10. Spreading
When the above process is completed, fabric is spread with correct
lay height and ply tension.
Fabric Type Lay Lay Height No of Ply
100% Cotton Fleece 9 yards 4” - 4.5” 70
Polar Fleece 9 yards 4” - 4.5” 50
100% Cotton Single Jersey 9 yards 3” - 3.5” 110
Cotton Pique 8 yards 3” - 3.5” 90
Lycra Fleece/Terry Fleece 8 yards 3” - 3.5” 80
Interlock 7 yards 2.5” - 3” 70
100% Cotton Rib 7 yards 3” - 3.5” 50
Lycra Pique 7 yards 2.5” - 3” 80
Lycra/Viscose/Polyester 7 yards 2.5” - 3” 85
11. Marker Setting
After that, marker have to placed on the top layer of the lay.
Inspect the measurement of marker
with pattern size set
If all okay, then Marker is fixed with
fabric using tape.
The tape used so that the marker
does not move from the fabric during
the cutting process.
Activities:
12. Cutting
Here, fabrics have to cut by maintaining marker.
Straight knife is use to cute the fabric
ply according to marker.
Use proper tension for smooth
cutting
Activities:
Panel Size Tolerance
1 cm – 10 cm No Tolerance
11 cm – 30 cm 2 mm
31 cm – 50 cm 5 mm
Above 50 cm 1 cm
13. Bundle Card Making
Bundle cards carry a unique number (bundle no.)
that is made in computer to represent the
bundles such as garment size, no. of pieces
consist in bundle etc. Bundle cards are attached
to each bundle as similar to bundle tickets. When
operators work on the bundle they scan bundle
card to the terminal. One or multiple cards are
issued against each bundle depending on the
production system.
14. Numbering
After cutting the fabrics, each parts of
different style fabrics should be numbered to
avoid mixing with the others style fabric
parts.
Bundling
After cutting the fabric lay and tagging the
sticker, all the garments components in stack
form is shorted out as per size and color. To
avoid mistake in sorting, it is better to use
code number on each pattern.
15. Panel Check & Replace
All cut panels are checked with it’s pattern
size. If found any defects it will be replaced
with extra cut panel in this process.
Print/Embroidery(If Need)
Cutting fabric parts have to sent into print or
embroidery section if required.
16. Print/Embroidery Panel Check
After completing print or embroidery as
per requirement it need to be checked
again and replace with extra if needed.
Ready to Input
Cutting parts should be sorting and
bundling here to send into the next
process.
18. Machinery Equipment
Straight Knife
Round Knife
Band Knife
Fusing Machine
Heat Seal Machine
Straight Knife
Suitable for mass trimming cotton, woolen,
linen leather and chemical fiber goods, etc.
Neat cutting, small-curvature radius curvilinear
cutting.
Low noise, stable running, easy to operate and
high efficiency.
Piping Machine
Plotter
Automatic Numbering Machine
Bundle Card Punch Machine
Bar Code Scanner
19. Round Knife
Easy to handle & operate.
Suitable for cutting single ply as well as
multilayer (say 20-30 layers).
To cut the larger part of the garments.
Band Knife
Very large productivity for limited products,
such as collars, cuff, placket, etc.
Possible to cut 90° angle of the lay.
Intensity of accident is low.
20. Fusing Machine
heat presses are often used to apply designs to
fabrics, specially designed presses can also be used
to imprint designs on mugs, plates, jigsaw puzzles,
caps, and other products.
Heat Seal Machine
Fusing is one of the most important processes
involved in apparel manufacturing which affects
the appearance of the garment. It also provides
support and strength to the specific parts of the
garment.
21. Piping Machine
This machine used to make piping for
shoulder and neck join
Plotter
Plotter used computer-aided design in CAD
section for marker making.
Easy to use.
22. Automatic Numbering Machine
To identify the right garment components of a
garment (size, color, and shade) when operators
stitch the garment.
Bundle Card Punch Machine
After print out bundle cards this machine
used to punch more than one bundle
cards at a single time.
23. Bar Code Scanning Machine
Every Bundle Card carry a Unique Numbers. These
Unique Numbers need to be scanned by Bar Code
Scanning Machine to input in ERP Software
