Dear Prof. Huang Chang Yong,
First of all, I would like to congratulate you and your team, in particular Marina Guo, for the
excellent organization and the success of the Global Creative Education Forum Shanghai 2011, held at
Shanghai Theatre Academy from 2-4 December 2011. UNCTAD was proud to join as a partner in this
endeavour. The forum activities were results-oriented and provided for fruitful debates. This paved the
way for enhanced collaboration in the future.
UNCTAD Creative Economy Programme was pleased to appoint the Shanghai Theatre
Academy as focal point in China for the activities of its Academic Exchange Network on the Creative
Economy. The certificate ceremony was a highlight of the forum. I will be delighted to continue
working with the STA with a view to further promote the Global Creative Education Forum as regular
event and a catalyser to encourage greater cooperation among academia and the international creative
community.
The opportunity to showcase the UNCTAD-WMO Puppet Planet Project was also highly
appreciated. I designed this multi-sectoral creative project with the aim to bring pragmatism to the
policy debate and illustrate how the creative economy can provide culture, education, climate literacy
and job opportunities in developing countries. It would be great if the project would be implemented in
China, starting with a pilot project in Shanghai. I also look forward to a productive cooperation with the
municipality of the Putuo District to support the future Puppet Museum of Shanghai.
Moreover, I express my most sincere thanks for the warm hospitality and the tailor-made
programme from the political, substantive and logistics point of view for my visit to Shanghai,
Shaoxing and Quangzhou.
Looking forward to strengthening our working ties on issues related to the creative economy
and its development dimension.
Yours Sincerely
(signed)
