NPP Temelín – Power Uprate Basic Principles
 Current TVSA-T fuel (as licensed for 3000 MWt)
 Analyses independent on particular reload scheme, supporting
core operation with cycle lengths 260-480 EFPD
 Flow-rates, functions and volumes of safety systems remain
unchanged
 Safety analysis acceptance criteria remain unchanged (i.e. same
as for 100%)
 Steam Generator nominal secondary pressure unchanged
 Changes expected in trip setpoints, methodologies, control
systems settings, …
Power Uprate Project is based on exploitation of the reserves
existing in the current design => no extensive modifications of
plant systems / equipment

Temelín Introduction PWR, 2 x VVER-1000 V-320 Rated Thermal Power: 3000 MWt Generator nom. output: ≈ 1016 MWe  10/2000 – U1 1st. criticality  12/2000 – U1 1st. connection to grid  01/2002 – U1 – 100%  05/2002 – U2 1st. criticality  12/2002 – U2 1st. connection to grid  03/2003 – U2 – 100% Annual Production: 13,25 TWh (2009), 13,8 TWh (2010 – plan) Safely 15-TERA Program - to get into the first quarter of operated NPPs worldwide based on safety indicators - to achieve and maintain 15 TWh annual production

N = 1016 MWe N = 1059 MWe N = 1081 MWe ~ NPP Temelín – Power Uprate Project Uprate of reactor thermal power to 3120 MWt New turbine LP parts with increased thermodynamic efficiency (+22 MWe) Reactor power uprate + new LP parts = increase of power output: 1081 MWe

NPP Temelín – Power Uprate Basic Principles  Current TVSA-T fuel (as licensed for 3000 MWt)  Analyses independent on particular reload scheme, supporting core operation with cycle lengths 260-480 EFPD  Flow-rates, functions and volumes of safety systems remain unchanged  Safety analysis acceptance criteria remain unchanged (i.e. same as for 100%)  Steam Generator nominal secondary pressure unchanged  Changes expected in trip setpoints, methodologies, control systems settings, … Power Uprate Project is based on exploitation of the reserves existing in the current design => no extensive modifications of plant systems / equipment

NPP Temelín – Project Scope Fuel and licensing • Update of core design and safety evaluation methodologies • 1st 104% cycle core design • Safety analysis • SAR revision Transient analysis, optimization of I&C setpoints Evaluation of power uprate impact on systems & equipment parameters / performance • Equipment strenght & lifetime reevaluation • SG secondary side performance • Specification of necessary modifications … Expected modifications: - Enhancement of generator, generator main breaker, encapsulated leads cooling - Modifications of I&C systems settings (protection, limitation, control systems)
