Spectacled Caimanby Brayden Jones The spectacled caiman stays in water unless driven out by drought then they burrow in the mud. They got their name from the bony ridges over their eyes. It has the ability to change color.
Panamanian Golden FrogBy Sarah Burnett It is thought that when the frog dies it turns gold. It is believed that the frog brings good news to those fortunate enough to see it. A single egg clutch can have as many as 900 eggs.
CoatimundiBy Shey Rodriguez The Coatimundi  is diurnal which means it lives on the ground and in the trees. It is a member of the raccoon family. It has a huge appetite-it is always looking for food to eat and uses its long nose to do it!
Spider Monkeyby Libby Pallesen The Spider Monkey does not have thumbs. They are endangered. They don’t like water but drink it.
Poisonous Dart Frogby Paul Owens Scientists think it gets its poison from what it eats, so if you raise one in captive it won’t get poisonous. One golden poison dart frog has enough poison to kill 20,000 mice. The name poison dart frog came from South American Indians which dipped their arrows in the poison.
Rhino  Beetle    by Nick Knudson The body of a rhino beetle is covered by a thick exoskeleton.   In  Asia they use the males for gambling fights. The rhino beetle’s strength is 850 times its weight.
Eyelash Viperby Emily Carroll When fighting another snake, the viper holds on to the other snake until it dies. Sometimes vipers accidently get  shipped overseas. The males do a dance called the adders dance to find the right female snake.
Pangolinby Olivia  Behrens A  pangolin walks a few miles each night. They spray a terrible spray like skunks. They look like walking pine cones and curl up in a ball to sleep.
Bearded Pig By: Janie Krueger The bearded pig can jump five feet in the air. These pigs are covered in warts. They never wash up when the are dirty or clean.
Vine SnakeBy Mickey Tvrdik The vine snake eats birds and birds eat it. The vine snake is barely the thickness of a man’s finger. The vine snake can almost lift its whole body in the air.
Aye Ayeby Michael Harwood Aye Ayes are like a mammalian version of the woodpecker. The aye ayes spend most of their time in the branches. While up on the trees it listens for bugs and uses its long middle digit to dig out insects for food.
Red Eyed Tree FrogBy Lily Weindel  They have sticky cups on their feet to help them climb  trees. They are nocturnal, and their red eyes help them see in the dark. Some people keep Red Eyed Tree Frogs as pets!
Pygmy Hippoby London Emmons A Pygmy Hippo moves along by tunnels, cleared paths, and canals. Pygmy Hippos can live to be 30 to 50 years. A Pygmy Hippo lives  a solitary, secretive life hiding in swamps.
Chubby Frogby Sam Loeffler The Chubby Frog burrows underground and only comes out at night. These frogs are very active after storms. Don’t touch these frogs or you’ll get glue-like slime on your hands!
Galagapos TortoiseRebecca Callen They have no teeth. They live for over 150 years. When it drinks it stores some of the water in its shell.
Happy face spiderby Katie Dansou Happy face spiders live in Hawaii. Happy face spiders have a lot of babies. The Happy face spider has a smile or a frown on its back.
Green BasiliskBy Jill Rokes They are excellent swimmers. Its nickname is The Jesus lizard because they look like they are walking on water. They are capable of remaining under water for up to 30 minutes.
Orb-Weaving SpiderBy Megan Snow It recycles its silk by eating it. There’s a book about them called “The Orb-weaving Spiders of Canada and Alaska”. Their webs could stop a Boeing 747 dead in the air!
Jaguarby Josephine Garro They are very good  swimmers. The name jaguar comes from a Native American word named yaguar which means “ he who kills with one leap. They sometimes climb trees to prepare an ambush.
HornbillBy Jessica Slater   They are the only birds that are as loud as jets.  They have incredibly loud calls.  They are considered the most impressive birds in the world.
Toucanby Payton Parsons The Toucan lives in a flock of six. The little Toucans do not have big bills when they are born. The Toucan lives in a tree hole and if it does not fit the it will snug up into a fluffy ball.
BongoBy Reid Burke They are known to eat burned wood after a lighting storm. They wrestle each other for something to do. Bongos use their prehensile tongue to grasp the vegetation they feed on.
Slothby Nate Wilcoxen The sloths have babies upside down. They are also good swimmers. The females produce a single baby each year.

OcelotBy Ben Nogowski Ocelots are good at swimming and climbing.  They have strong legs which makes them run fast.  They are cats but they like water.

Scarlet MacawBy Claire Howell The macaw is a very talented talker.  When a predator is near and wants to eat it, the macaw pinches the predator with its beak and it makes noises for help. A macaw’s beak is very strong. It can crush a Brazil nut.
Morpho ButterflyBy Chloe Degan The female and the male butterfly look different. The morpho butterfly is a tropical butterfly. When the morpho butterfly is born their chrysalis is yellow with black spots.
Indian CobraBy Joseph Warren  The Indian Cobra is the most venomous snake.  It is the snake of choice for snake charming. In India almost every year more than 10,000 people die from cobra bites.
Iguanaby Kate Zachary Iguanas can stay under water for 28 minutes. They can drop 40 feet from a tree onto solid ground without getting hurt. They are the largest lizards in the Americas.
