1. What Better Way to Raise Funds Than With Spirit Cards?
Spirit cards are a great way for school clubs, sports teams, church groups and other
youth-oriented organizations to raise money, and have been around for years. There are
literally endless ways to raise funds, limited only by your imagination. Car washes,
auctions, t-shirts, candy bars and cookie dough, jerky, popcorn - we could go on and on
about the activities and products that have been relied on for years by groups that need to
raise money, but if you have yet to give spirit cards a try you will want to after reading
this article.
Let's begin with profits - and just how much you actually raise with the some of the more
common products. For instance, how much profit do you actually make on a chocolate
candy bar? Maybe $1 or two? Even with higher priced products like cookie dough, the
profits are generally about 50% or 60%. Not bad, but what about the fact that not every
customer wants cookie dough? When considering a product for your fundraising efforts,
it's important to think of not only profit margins, but how likely customers are to buy.
With spirit cards, you enjoy the benefits two ways - first, profit margins range from 50%
to more than 100% depending on the number of cards you buy and sell. Second, it's a
product customers really want and can see the value in, and we all know that more sales
equates to more profits!
Why not sell something your customer really wants and can use? Considering economic
conditions over the past four or five years and the fact that many people don't have the
money to spend on purchases that aren't necessary, spirit cards just make sense. These
cards offer the customer discounts at a dozen or more merchants located in their own
community, with special "deals" on the backs of the cards. The deals are usually
something like 20% off of a haircut/service at a local hair salon, 15% off of an oil change
for the car, buy-one-get-one-free offers at local restaurants, the pizzeria, etc. These are
the kinds of specials everyone enjoys, because they're ordinary expenses, things most
people spend money on regularly. Sales come easier, without the hard work. Think of
some of the other products you have used to raise money, and how much work or hassle
was involved. With catalog sales, not only do you have to wait for the customer to
choose what he/she wants out of the catalog, you have to go back out to deliver the orders
once they arrive. Cookie dough, same thing - AND you have to worry about storage and
spoiling issues. With spirit cards there are no catalogs, boxes, or anything else you have
to lug around, and you sell the card on the spot, take the customer's money, and you're
done. One thing we didn't mention in the paragraph above, customers love the cards
because they get the enjoy the discounts and special deals at their favorite merchants for a
whole year!
Typically, spirit cards sell for $10 each, and allow customers to save far more than that
over the course of one year. Even small groups that purchase a lower volume of cards
enjoy $5 per card profit - and if yours is a large group, you can enjoy profits of more than
$8 per card. As you can imagine, because of the ease of selling and large profits, the
money adds up in a hurry. Instead of spending months trying to raise the money your
group needs, why not accomplish your goals in just weeks? Whether your organization is
in need of hundreds of dollars or tens of thousands, it’s possible with spirit cards.
