Montay Simmons' most recent research paper was about the different movements used in the shot put technique and why each movement is utilized. For his final project, Montay would like to research whether Olympic lifting improves performance in other sports based on his background in college football. He has previous experience presenting research through various classes in undergrad and giving in-service presentations lasting at least 50 minutes. Montay expects to gain further knowledge on the topic he chooses by researching and writing a paper for this course.
2. Most Recent Research Paper
The last research paper I wrote was from my Biomechanics class in undergrad.
My topic was about the different movements used in a shot put technique. I
had to discuss each movement in a biological sense and why the move is used
for the sport. It was very interesting to me because I have never thrown the
shot put, so I did learn more about the sport and how the force is generated
through the body in the throw.
3. Research Topic
If I were to pick a research topic today for the final project, my research
question would be: Does Olympic Lifting improve performance in sports?
From my background in college football, that would be a very interesting
research topic for me to research.
4. Previous Experiences
I have had plenty of experiences of doing presentations. I have had many
classes in my undergrad that required me to present projects to the entire
class.
I have gotten better over the years with the more experience in doing
presentations to where I am not nervous to do so any more.
I have done my in-services in classes about various fitness topics that had to
last at least 50 minutes.
5. Expectations from course
From this course, I expect to learn more about the topic I choose for my
research paper.
I want to pick a topic that I really want to know a question to and will
research the topic to further my knowledge about that topic.
