  3. 3. TM When the power crises in Ghana hit its peak, some businesses died, oth- ers were left crawling on their knees. It was a difficult time for startups. Though things have improved in recent times, power outages are not gone entirely. We did some very simple things that helped us to keep our head above water.
  4. 4. Before the power goes out...
  5. 5. Ironing your clothes for the week insures you always have something great to wear. It saves time and energy. Prepare your clothes 1
  6. 6. Be efficient. Create a culture of sticking to your master plan. Endeavour to finish projects ahead of schedule. Work smart and hard 2
  7. 7. After the power has gone out...
  8. 8. Run to your mum and dad or friend or relative or neighbour and ask if you could use their electric generator. Seek help3
  9. 9. Make reading your habit. Look for articles, books, portfolios that can help you come better at your skill or craft. Read4
  10. 10. Go out and meet people in the flesh, make friends, network and enthusias- tically talk to them about your products or ser- vices. Sell5
  11. 11. Step outside, to the park and watch nature in all its glory. Smile when you have to. Run when you can. Play if you must. Appreciate Nature 6
  12. 12. You may need to sleep during the day. And wake up refreshed and revital- ised to work when power comes back. Sleep7
  13. 13. Spend time cleaning your office or studio. Get rid of the clutter that can make your clients lose faith in your ability to do a clean job. Tidy up8
  14. 14. It’s ok to feel disappoint- ed about the situation. Find a place - like the beach - and yell it all out. After that, gather yourself together and get back to work. Scream it out 9
  15. 15. Grab yourself a mug of coffee at a serene coffee shop where there’s pow- er and possibly wifi and work there. Work Remotely 10
  16. 16. Get creative. And make lemonade out of lemons.
