Wives Of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam

2. ما الحكمة من كثرة زواج الرسول؟ ماذا ستجيب ؟ Why did the Prophet Mohammad have many wives?

3. إذا جاءك أحد وسألك بنية غير سليمة وفهمت منها نية الإحراج والتشكيك في نوايا الرسول - صلى الله عليه وسلم - من تعدد زواجه .... فهل تعرف الإجابة؟ If someone asks you that question, either in a good or in a bad intention, will you be able to answer?

4. إليكم الجواب , وهو عبارة عن محاضرة ألقاها الأستاذ عمرو خالد منذ فترة عن أمهات المؤمنين، لخصتها لكم بما يأتي : Here is the answer, as given in a lecture by Amro Khalid about the Mothers of the believers ( the Prophet’s wives )

5. أولا : لنتساءل بداية كم هن عدد زوجات الرسول - صلى الله عليه وسلم - ؟ Let’s first ask ourselves, how many wives did the Prophet had?

6. عددهن 12 زوجة . والرسول - عليه الصلاة والسلام - توفي وعنده عشر زوجات ، حيث توفيت في حياته السيدة خد يجة والسيدة زينب بنت خزيمة ... رضي الله عنهما They were twelve. When he died there were ten wives with him, while Khadija and Zaynab died in his life

8. عفى الله عني وعنكم سنذكر الآن أسماء الزوجات : خديجة بنت خويلد سودة بنت زمعة عائشة بنت ابي بكر حفصة بنت عمر زينب بنت خزيمة أم سلمة هند بنت عتبة زينب بنت جحش جويرية بنت الحارث صفية بنت حيي بن أخطب أم حبيبة رملة بنت ابي سفيان ماريا بنت شمعون المصرية ميمونة بنت الحارث

They are: They are: Khadijah Bint Khuwaylid Sawdah Bint Zamaah Aaishah Bint Abi Bakr Hafsah Bint Omar Zainab Bint Khuzaymah Om-salamah , Hind Bint Otbah Zainab Bint Jahsh Juwayriyah Bint Alharith Safiyah Bint Huyay Ibn Akhtab Ommo Habibah Ramlah Bint Abi Sofian Maria Bint Shamoun, the Egyptian Maymonah Bint Alharith

10. لنسأل السؤال التالي بعد ذكر أسماء زوجاته عليه الصلاة والسلام : كم واحدة بكر وكم واحدة كانت متزوجة من قبل؟ Did the Prophet’s (pbuh) wives married someone for the first time (i.e. were they all virgins)?

12. هل كن عربيات؟ Were they all Arabs?

14. هل كن مسلمات كلهن؟ Where they all Muslims?

15. نعم إلا اثنتين : السيدة صفية كانت يهودية والسيدة ماريا كانت مسيحية , رضي الله عنهن جميعا All but two; Safiya who was a Jew , and Mariya who was a Christian.

16. والآن .. لنجيب على السؤال التالي : هل كان سبب تعدد الزواج من قبل الرسول - صلى الله عليه وسلم - شهوة؟ Now, let’s answer the main and very important question: Was it lust that caused the prophet to have so many marriages?

19. 1- The Prophet married for the first time when he was 25 years old.

20. 2- The first woman he married , Khadijah was 40 years old already married twice before him and had children. He stayed married to her alone for 25 years, until she died. He stayed single after her death for two years in grief and mourning over her death. He was then 52 years old.

21. 3- From 52 till 60, he married several times for political and social reasons, not for lust (Naooz Billah)…. After two years of living single , he married Sawdah, an 80 year old widow in order to honor her because she was the first widow in Islam. Not an act of a lustful man after a period of living single.

22. إذا .. ، هل من المعقول أن الشهوة ظهرت فجأة من سن 52 سنة؟ It’s not logical to say that lust had appeared suddenly at the Prophet’s life at 52, and at the middle of the fierce physical and psychological struggle to spread Islam

24. ثم إنه عليه الصلاة والسلام عند زواجه بعد السيدة خديجة تزوج السيدة سودة وكان عمرها (80) سنة حيث كانت اول أرملة في الإسلام - واراد عليه الصلاة والسلام أن يكرمها ويكرم النساء اللواتي مثلها حيث ابتدأ بنفسه ولم يأمر صحابته بزواجها بل هو عليه الصلاة والسلام قام بتكريمها بنفسه ليكون هذا العمل الإنساني قدوة من بعده

26. ولنسأل السؤال التالي : هل الرسول محمد - صلى الله عليه وسلم - هو الوحيد الذي عدد أم أن هنالك انبياء عددوا أيضا؟ But , was Mohammad the only Prophet to have multiple wives? Or polygamy was taken by other Prophets as well?

27. الجواب نعم .... لقد عدد المرسلون والأنبياء - صلى الله عليه وسلم كسيدنا إبراهيم وسيدنا داود وسليمان - صلوات الله وسلامه عليهم أجمعين ، وهذا مكتوب في الكتب السماوية كلها . فلماذا يهاجمنا بها الغرب , وهم معترفون أصلا ومكتوبة عندهم ! The answer is : NO. Polygamy was the norm at the times of Ibrahim, Dawoud, Solayman, all known in the Bible to have been polygamists.

28. نأتي الآن لذكر الدواعي السياسية والإجتماعية والدينية التي دعت الرسول لتعديد زوجاته Now, let’s mention the political, social and religious reasons the prophet had these marriages.

29. أولا : توريث الإسلام والدعوة بدقة تفاصيلهما وخصوصياتهما ( كالصلاة وحركاتها ) فلا بد من دخول ناس لبيت الرسول - صلى الله عليه وسلم - لنقل التفاصيل المطلوبة لتعليم الأمة ... فأراد الله – عز وجل - بزواج الرسول من السيدة عائشة حيث كانت صغيرة تتعلم منه الكثير بحكم سنها ( والعلم في الصغر كالنقش على الحجر ) وعاشت بعده 42 سنة تنشر العلم .. First: To spread the culture through eyewitnesses with all the details known only to intimate people. Aaishah , being so young, was able to tell all those details to the Muslims for more than 42 years. She had seen and learnt so much from him. Her young age was a great advantage in this respect. She could tell what the Prophet used to do or say in all aspects of life, so that people do and say the same in the similar situations…

30. والحديث في علم السيدة عائشة يطول حيث أنها كانت أعلم الناس بالفرائض والنوافل ... وإجمالي عدد الأحاديث المروية عن زوجات الرسول - عليه الصلاة والسلام - 3000 حديث . أما شبهة زواج السيدة عائشة وهي صغيرة فقد كانت طبيعة البيئة الصحراوية أن الفتاة تبلغ بسرعة وكان متعارف على تزويج الصغيرات ليس عند العرب فحسب بل عن الروم والفرس Aaishah , was the most knowledgeable person when it comes to the daily life of the Muslim and how it should go as was lived by the Prophet himself . But how come he married her when she was only nine years old? The desert climate answers to that . In such environment Girls reached youth very young. Not only in Arabia, but also in Roma and Persia, girls were married that young

31. ثانيا : تأصيل العلاقة بين الصحابة وتشبيكها مما يؤدي إلى تماسك الامة فها هو عليه السلام يتزوج بابنة أبي بكر وأخت عمر بن الخطاب ويزوج ابنتيه لسيدنا عثمان والبنت الثالثة لسيدنا علي رضي الله عنهم جميعا وأرضاهم Second: To strengthen the relationships with his companions, he married Abi Bakr’s daughter and Omar's sister, married his daughters to Othman and Ali, May God be pleased with them all.

32. ثالثا : الرحمة بالارامل حيث تزوج الرسول - صلى الله عليه وسلم - من الأرامل ( السيدة سودة وأم سلمة وأم حبيبة Third: out of mercy and rewarding the early Muslim widows and divorcees he gave them the honor of marrying them himself (Husbands either died in battles or were non Muslims who divorced them.). Sawdah, Om-salama and Habeebah were widows.

33. رابعا : استكمال تشريع الإسلام حيث يقوم الرسول بالفعل بنفسه ليكون قدوة واسوة للمسلمين من بعده سواء كان بتكريم الأرامل أو الرحمة بمن اسلم من غير المسلمين كزواجه بصفية بعدما أسلم أبوها ورفعة لشأنه عند حاسديه من اليهود Fourth: The Prophet was being a role model for the Muslims being kind to the widows and to the people of the book who newly embraced Islam. He married Safiyah after her father , a Jew, embraced Islam , so giving him and his daughter the honor among his people

34. خامسا : محبة الرسول - صلى الله عليه وسلم - لعقد الصلة والرابطة بين أقطار الأرض كلها حيث أراد بزواجه من السيدة ماريا المصرية أن يؤلف بلدا بأكمله والرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام تزوج السيدة جويرية حتى يسلم بنو المصطلق حيث كانوا أسرى بيد المسلمين بعد غزوة بني المصطلق والقصة معروفة Fifth: He wanted to have ties and links with the different nations of the world. When he married Mariya, all Egyptians were on his side, and when he married Gowayriyah, all her people (they were called the Bani Almustalaq and were captured by the Muslims after a battle),, they all embraced Islam

35. آمل أن أكون قد قدمت لكم ما تطمئن به قلوبكم ويثبتكم ويقويكم على مواجهة هذه الشبهة التي يريد منها أعداؤنا أو جهالنا تشكيكنا و النيل من ديننا ونبينا . والله من وراء القصد والدعاء للراسل حتى تقول لك الملائكة " ولك بالمثل ... السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته I wish this makes you more assured and able take a stand up to allegations against the Prophet (pbuh). May peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you all.

36. جزى الله خيراً من أعان على نشرها أو نشر شيٍ منها لا تنسونا من الدعاء حفظكم الله PRAY FOR THE UNITY OF THE WHOLE MUSLIM WORLD!

37. يقول صلى الله عليه وسلم بلغوا عني ولو اية ارسلها لمن تحب، و لمن لا تحب ايضا ! قم بإرسال هذه الرسالة إلى كل من تعرف ، و إن شاء الله ستكون صدق جارية ، تكسب بها حسنات عن كل من يقرأها و يعمل بها إلى يوم الدين
