2. The Pitch
Working title- Forte
I thought this was an appropriate title because it
means loud in Italian which is linked to the genre of
music I want to include in my magazine.
Frequency of publication- Monthly. This is because
my survey responses show me that my target
audience (students) are not regular magazine readers.
Cover price- Seen as though I want it to be a monthly
magazine I think the cost should be reasonable at a
price of £4.00 most of the magazines I researched
were a lot higher in price because they are well known
and I feel like it will have a lot more content
3. Genre
My research showed me that most people prefer rock
and indie music. It is clear from this that I will use his
genre of music but also with very little pop. In order to
appeal to the widest audience I don’t just want to focus
on one particular genre so it will have many different
artists. I am inspired to include music which is similar
to Kerrang! and NME but with a younger target
audience
4. About the magazine
Colour scheme- I experimented with different colour variations before
choosing one in particular to see which had the best impact
I have chosen the grey black and red
because I think they compliment each
other and they wont be too similar to other
well known magazine companies
Style- When researching music magazines I found the covers more
appealing when they are simplistic with little writing and I think they will
appeal more to a younger audience if they are simple. This will help the
main image be the focal point because it is what the readers will look for.
I also want to include small images because it breaks up the text. I want
to be careful when making my front cover because I don’t want it to look
photo shopped and to give a sense of cohesion.
5. Content
In addition to my genre being based
around rock and indie bands I will feature
artists that would be associated with this
style for different articles and interviews.
Kodaline
Catfishandthe
bottlemen
Arctic
Monkeys
30 seconds to mars
You me at six
BombayBicycle
club
Paramore
VampireWeekend
The1975
Blink 182
JakeBugg
6. Regulars
Giveaways/competitions- I think including a free cd will give the
audience a reason for buying the magazine other than reading and they
get something back from the magazine.
Interviews- I find the idea of incorporating an interview in the magazine
interesting as it makes the reader feel more connected with the artist
and their music. They could be used on popular artists or unknown
artists
Reviews- This could be album reviews or live reviews which are
popular with readers as it lets them read about them before they buy
them. The magazine will feature a variety of reviews because my target
audience being students they could decide what gig to go to if they are
looking to go out.
Advice- to break away from reading about artists and bands this
segment will tell people what events are upcoming or clubs so it is still
based around music.
7. Style
FORTE.
Colour scheme- I chose these colours as I feel as though they contrast with
each other which will make the title and writing stand out but also because I will
be including pictures so I don’t want it to be too full and complicated.

Bauhaus font size 96
Bauhaus font size 96
Britannic bold size 96
I have chosen … as my masthead font because it is simplistic which from
my research has a nice effect and is the layout I am going for
Headers
I think….. font is easier to read and quite
bold which would be good for headings.
Text
This font fits with the headers and
masthead fonts which I think creates a
uniform style.
