• Cricket grew out of many stick-and-ball games played, under a

• The first definite reference to the game is found in a 1598
court case concerning dispute over a school's ownership of a
plot of land.
• A 59-year old coroner, John Derrick, testified that he and his
school friends had played cricket on the site fifty years earlier.
• The school was the Royal Grammar school Guildford, and Mr.
Derrick's account proves beyond reasonable doubt that the
game was being played in Surrey c.1550

• The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) was
founded in 1787.

• When the ICC (imperial cricket conference) was founded in
1909 the test cricket was established, only England, Australia
and south Africa were members.
• Renamed the international cricket conference in 1965, and
took up its current name in 1989.
• India, West Indies and New Zealand became test nations
before the second world war and Pakistan soon afterwards.

• T20 cricket originally introduced by the
England and wales cricket board in 2003.
• For professional inter-county competition in
England and wales. In A twenty20 game the
two teams have A single innings each, which is
restricted to A maximum of 20 overs.
• Then first international T20 match was played
in 2005 Australia vs. New Zealand at Eden
Park in Auckland. .
• Australia won by 44 runs
