4. What is screencasting?
n Ability to capture and share for viewing
anything displayed on the computer screen
n Both audio and images are captured
n Short video capture possible (files get very
large fast!)
n Send link to view screencast OR
n Embed in Web page (blog, wiki, social
network, etc.)

5. How can ELTs use screencasting?
n Extend classroom or “flip” the classroom
– Guided “tour” of interesting Web resources
– Tutorials – displaying Web pages, Word docs,
PPT slides, etc.
– Feedback on student writing
– Presentation of vocabulary
– Provide pronunciation model
– Presentation of grammar points

n Narrate a trip while showing Web pages
n Explain how to get somewhere displaying a
Google Map or Google Earth.
n Create a timeline and narrate events
