3. Trade
Globalization has brought about more
opportunities to trade with persons around
the world.
It causes more economic wealth in countries
already economically well off, and
opportunities for more possibilities in
countries who are not (Singh, 2004).
Influence on secondary students = least
Goods traded between the US and Mexico
may affect some of my Mexican American
students.
4. Interdependence
Globalization has brought about interdependence
across the world. Because opportunities also mean
pressure, what were independent activities of each
nation in the past have been narrowed down and
replaced by the activities of international
corporations, who are considered global players
(Singh, 2004).
Secondary students should be more aware of the
global world that we live in and have some idea
about the diverse cultures that make up the world.
5. Morals
Globalization has brought about the need
for more moral education
Moral education is more diverse because of
globalization (Noddings, 2010).
Ex. There are different ideas of justice
around the world
All students have to understand that
different cultures believe and live in
different ways. What they consider a moral
act may not be deemed moral in another’s
opinion.
6. Technology
New technologies, especially computer
technology and transportation systems,
rationalized at the highest level, have
opened new opportunities to meet the
demand for goods and services all over the
world as well as communication and
socialization (Singh, 2004).
Secondary students are increasingly
influenced by the rise of technology
7. Migration
Globalization has been met with an increase in
migration.
Migration may help to finance education and lead
to exports and development and thus create
resources for schools (Singh, 2004).
Migration, however, causes a loss in teaching
capacity in smaller countries as teachers venture
away different opportunities (Singh, 2004).
This is the most important issue in globalization
because several of the secondary level students in
the education system today are products of
migration.
