  1. Technology Use Plan By Marima Sarotic-Ronneburg and Susane Tardiff A technology plan for North California High School.
  2. Why develop a Technology Use plan? Creating a Technology Use Plan will allow a school district to follow a well organized plan which will help enhance existing technology and its use, as well as create perspective maps of future technologies needed for effective use of digital tools in educational settings.  It will also give all the stakeholders an idea of costs, resources, and changes needed for this plan to be executed. 
  3. Who should be a part of the team and planning process? The planning process should include administration, staff, parents, students, and the community.  For example, a meeting committee should be formed; including but not limited to at least one administrator from each site, a technology coordinator for the site(s), a director and/or coordinator of the technology department, district educational technologist(s), as well as any interested board members, teachers, students and members of the community.
  4. What are the steps in developing a Technology Use Plan? The team will meet every two weeks or more if needed.  All the team members will be enrolled in an on-line class where information will be shared and technology plans will be updated.  Team members will continuously focus on research, input, feedback, and make recommendations.  The areas addressed will be:   1.  What existing technologies need to be enhanced, replaced or discarded. 2.  What new technologies need to be purchased as well as budget development, implementation strategies, professional development, strategic planning, and innovation.
  5. Technology will be used to enhance or facilitate learning where appropriate with vision to increase student achievement.
  6. We will be focusing on a one on one computing environment which will include a bring your own device scenario, cloud computing and digital textbooks. This will also include a support and maintenance plan and a purchase of digital textbooks and media.

  8. Assessment will be made on current technologies available, through research, feedback and comparison.  Current technology standards will be taken into consideration.  Surveys will be administered to staff and students.
  9. The Technology Use Plan will include professional development funds.  The best case scenario would be including professional development line item when acquiring or enhancing technologies. This could be an on-site or on-line self-paced training.  Funds and times should be allocated for in house collaboration and training.
  10. Assessment tools will be enhanced within the duration of this plan.  Those tools will help us in the evaluation of the technology plan created.  For example, we could test students electronically (such as blackboard testing abilities), then collect the scores and compare them to the previous scores (if available) to find out if those tools helped the students learn more effectively.  We will provide surveys to get a general idea if staff and students found the provided technology to be an effective teaching and learning tool.
  11. This Technology Use Plan will be a state mandated three year plan.  We will stay away from a longer plan due to the contentiously changing world of technology and it’s use in education.
