Disease related complications can be avoided.
Silent Killers of vision like Glaucoma & Diabetic
Retinopathy can be detected & controlled.
Fluctuations in the power can be detected.
Working continuously in front of Computer can cause Computer Vision Syndrome & Dry eye.
So early detection can reduce the complications.
It is recommended to have eye check once in atleast 6 months.

CURVATURE change focus from distant objects

15. BENEFITS OF LASIK / LASER SURGERY
• Feeling better - Improved vision contributes to the total health and
general youthful feeling that comes from clear vision and an alert mind.
• Look better - People who see better are more alert, attentive, and take
care of their personal appearance better, including smiling with the joy of
their new vision.
• Reduce stress - Poor vision is a proven stress factor. Restored vision
after LASIK is a proven stress reducer. Therefore, you have reduced
stress without tranquilizers and their side-effects.
• Enjoy greater energy - People with poor vision are less physically
active. Improved vision may bring more energy. Think of how much more
you could do and enjoy in every precious hour, day, and the rest of your
life.
• Gain confidence - When you see better, look better and feel better, you
will feel better about yourself too - personally, professional, and
socially. This is a beautiful bonus of your improved vision.

16. • Reduce the risks of injury - People with poor vision have poor depth
perception and side vision and are more prone to falling or driver's accidents
that can hurt themselves or others. Do not risk your life or health with poor
vision when it can be improved with LASIK treatment.
• Reduce the rise of other health problems - Research has shown that other
illnesses are less frequent in active, alert people. This could mean that
diabetic problems, back pain, fatigue, and senility may not occur until much
later in life when you have clear vision.
• Maintain your strength and avoid disability - Clear vision from LASIK will
restore your confidence and depth perception to allow you to remain
active. This strengthens bones and ligaments to help prevent crippling
arthritis. This is especially important for women to avoid osteoporosis.
• Aging symptoms may be postponed - Increased physical activity with better
vision/slows down many of the symptoms of aging, helping to keep your
muscle tone, energy, and "youth" longer.
• Add years to your life - People who have had their vision restored with LASIK
are more physically active and are less prone to falling or driving
accidents. These people generally live longer while enjoying a higher quality of
life that comes with better vision and good health.

below eye level, so you’re looking down at it. A viewing
distance of 20” to 26” inches is ideal.

24. Decreased tear production
Excessive tear evaporation
An abnormality in the production of mucus or lipids normally found in
the tear layer
Poor production of tears by the tear glands may be a result of age.
Evaporative loss of the watery tear layer is usually a result of an
insufficient overlying lipid layer.
Some medications may decrease tear production.
When you read, watch TV, or perform a task that requires close
attention with your eyes, you may not blink as often. This decreased
blinking allows excessive evaporation of the tears.
Certain conditions, such as stroke make it difficult to close your eyes
on your own. As a result, your eyes may become dry from tear
evaporation.
Also, if an infection is present along the eyelids or the eyelashes.

25. SELF-CARE AT HOME
•Excessive air movement dries out your eyes. Avoid having excessive air
movement by decreasing the speed of ceiling fans and/or oscillating fans.
•Large amounts of dust or other particulate matter in the air may worsen the
symptoms of dry eye. In those situations, an air filter may be helpful.
•Hot compresses and eyelid scrubs/massage with baby shampoo help by
providing a thicker, more stable lipid layer.
•Artificial tears and lubricating eyedrops and gels .
•If you notice your eyes are dry mainly while you are reading or watching TV,
taking frequent breaks to allow your eyes to rest and become moist and
comfortable again is helpful.

26. Although no cure exists for DES, many treatments are
available. Treatment is dependent on the severity of DES. you
may only require a humidifier or occasional eye drops, or you
may require surgery to help treat DES.
Over-the-counter lubricating eye drops, commonly referred to
as artificial tears, may help relieve your dry eyes.
