6. On the hoof judging
• Four producers per Farmers’ Association are entered
• Participants judge animals on the hoof
• Animal grades and slaughter percentage are estimated
• Participant scores are compared with Meat Board grading
and actual slaughter percentage

9. Slaughter Cattle Competition
• Farmer’s Associations compete within the four
Meatco procurement regions (Communal, Otavi,
Okahandja, Windhoek)
• Each Farmers’ Association should enter a minimum of
16 cattle
• The competition looks at Farmers Associations with the
best quality animals entered
• Cattle are judged on the hoof a day prior to slaughtering
and compared with grading by Meat Board
• A national winner is then announced

• Producers slaughtering at Meatco are
automatically entered and all cattle are taken
into consideration
• Quality of ALL carcasses for period is measured
(55 points)
• Improvement on Quality (10 points)
• Merit points (20 points)
• Quantity of cattle supplied to Meatco (15 Points)
